  1. in ypsilanti at the game. bowser is on the sidelines in streetclothes with a pronounced limp. no boot. any word?
  2. I'm headed up Friday night with my fiancee. Saturday is actually my birthday, hopefully I'll be celebrating with a Zips win. I know of a few other folks headed to the game. Rumor is there'll be a Bleacher Bum in attendance. The outcome of this game decides if I drive down to Athens later on.
  3. I heard Quade is playing in Denmark as well. Maybe someone could find some info? I'm too lazy.
  4. My favorite is getting paid almost half a mil to win two games. :D
  5. The spread is down to 1 point, which is a virtual PK. Seems like we're not the only ones that like the Zips in this one...this is gonna be a tough game with weather as a non-factor. 75 and sunny! BRING YOUR SUNBLOCK!! B)
  6. Wow...there's some incredible stuff going on over there. 80% of their posting fans believe the Zips are going to get destroyed in this game. I just don't see how they can be so optimistic after losing to EMU. More power too 'em I guess. Here's to 4-3 (2-0) after Saturday evening!
  7. I thought I'd get this one started early to get some thoughts of our expert prognosticators. I, for one, am not quite yet willing to make a foray into the world of predictions with our Jekyll and Hyde team. I do think the Zips have a chance to win this, especially seeing EMU pick up a win vs. BG. If you would've asked me the same thing after week one, you wouldn't have gotten the same answer. That being said, those experts in Vegas open us as a two-point dog at home versus Bowling Green? Thoughts? Predictions?Bowling Green (-2)@The University of Akron10/11/20086:00pm EST
  8. Anyone hear Igor's quote on the post game? My friend and I had just got to the car, hoping to hear Steve French's thoughts, when we were just in time to hear post-game interviews with some players. Joe Dunn asked Igor if he "felt" for Can't kicker Reed being in that situation. Igor said (to the effect) that he'd never been in that situation, then followed with "Well, except for Cincinnati last week. If I would've made that, we would've won. That sucked." Best part is, that's not even the best quote. Joe Dunn then made the ill-advised question asking Igor how he was going to celebrate his second straight Wagon Wheel victory, to which he said: "Well, I'm twenty one. I'm gonna go get drunk." I like the guy just a little more after that one. He sure made some faces red there.Second, Deryn Bowser made an appearance next. This kid seems to have his head screwed on straight, a real class-act. He portrayed a love of the game and his teammates. If JD goes JUCO for receivers, high class kids like Bowser are the way to go. I'm glad we still have him for a season and a half.
  9. FANTASTIC!!!Kinda just relived that moment. Gave me chills again. I was seated about the same level on the other side of the post. The kick was headed right at me.Simply awesome. Kudos to having the recording going at the key time! I would've shut it off after they picked up 13!
  10. Exactly. They were making fun of themselves. Remember the basketball game at the JAR? "We don't Th_ow Stuff"
  11. Just saw THIS and thought folks would get a kick out of it. Great insight, as usual Cap. Here's hoping we get over that .500 hump for good this Saturday. See you all at the bowl, stop by and say "Happy Birthday" to yours truly...GO ZIPS!
  12. Incredible. The Zips can put a big ding in BG's hopes next week. Gonna have to put things together in the next week though, let's hope we can chalk the ugliness up to being a rivalry game...
  13. Someone should tell this #@^%&$# that the Zips did win a MAC football championship in 2005. :blink:Can I be the editor for the Recordpub???You're overqualified.
  14. 31-19, Zips. It won't be as close as that score indicates as K-ent scores 10 meaningless points in the fourth.
  15. Their fans are really good at dissecting why their football team sucks so bad...
  16. Wait? Who is the game against?
  17. Fantastic. Now, not only can they rip off "we are *clap-clap* Can't state." But also they'll make a no doubt lame attempt to make a pee-yellow out, copying the white out. What's the story here?
  18. You mean the pre-pre-game warmup for the local pregame prior to the national pregame. Thank goodness this game is at noon. Wouldnt want to interrupt that...
  19. You mean when he's not fumbling or throwing interceptions? He'll hit 10 turnovers for the season in this game. That makes K-ent's QB alone a -10 in the turnover margin. Every bit of good he does with his feet, he cancels out with his clumsiness. That being said, the kid tends to have a good time vs. Akron defenses. Do we play 4 DL now that K-ent has instituted a pseudo-option offense?
  20. It is impressive that folks in that dump of a city support the team so well, especially in this economy. That being said, this will all be a moot point in approximately one year when we're no longer playing in a 70 year old dump that's located 10 miles from campus. And then again in one more year when both K-ent and YSU are div 1AA.
  21. Ok...I had to take a gander at their boards. Not only are some of them talking about moving down to 1AA, some are saying they should "rather easily" win their next two conference games against Akron and Ohio, and be 2-1 in conference play. Good for them and their optimism....
  22.
  23. Quick thought to bring this thing back up to the top:I was driving home from work today (Work in Macedonia, live in North Hill Akron), when lovely ODOT had Route 8 CLOSED at the 271 underpass at 2 in the afternoon to place steel beams. So me, in my irritation, hopped on 271 down to 77 into Akron. Has anyone cruised through there lately? Heading down 77 South approaching 59 there is going to be a VERY prominent view of the stadium. I didn't realize how visible it would be from there. Granted, it sticks out a little more because of the giant red crane, but a lot of folks will see that jewel from the highway. GO ZIPS! 11.5 months till ICS!
  24. skip-zip...you don't speak up much during football season, but this post is right on. I didnt make either of the last two watch parties at OBC. I was in Syracuse, and I chose to stay home this week to get some work done while the Zips overmatched Army. Those Suckeyes will lose to Minnesota next week, mark my words. I have a friend, a graduate from OSU, who follows both OSU and Akron. He disagreed that Ball State could defeat the Suckeyes...after this week's showing by both teams, he didnt disagree as much. Cinci is a tough matchup, but if Miami can put that many points on the board, our Zippers have a chance. I'm counting the MINUTES until Saturday at 9am. GO ZIPS! BEAT CINCINNATI!
  25. There's a little fact that I read scanning through the game notes last week: There are 23 teams in college football that have had at least one player drafted in the first four rounds of the NFL draft over the last four years, Akron is the only non-"BCS" team to make that list. Methinks BWill might continue that list....
