  1. It's ok. He'll be severely punished this year. That DUI netted him a solid one-game suspension thanks to that crazy athletics department. I heard through the grapevine that this arrest will net him suspension for one practice AND one game in '08.
  2. *phew* I got mine for $4 from stubhub. Whole trip is gonna cost about $300 for two ($120 for hotel, 100 for gass, 10 for tix, 70 for miscellaneous). Not bad for a Zips mini vacation. Besides Lee and johnnyzip, anyone else goin? How much was postage and what section did you buy?$10, and they're in section 330. Rumor has it you just need to "get in the door."
  3. BUMP!Well the cinderblock (elevator?) tower is now the highest point on the grandstand, rising roughly 1/2 story higher than the steel. Looks like they've slowed down on the grandstand side bleachers. It's nice to see the buzz back on the work site now that the three-day weekend is over.
  4. Read this first..click on Syracuse on the right side.Hmmm...thought I was gonna get some personalized advice. I guess if anyone is looking for me and my crew, we'll be at "Manley North" unless a better opportunity reveals itself. Lookin to get there around 1 to do some socializing.Well consider that link my personalized advice since I wrote it. Ask me if you have any followup questions. BTW, Manley North is a permit lot. Do you have access to a permit? If not I suggest Skytop located near Manley North see the link. You can catch a shuttle to the Dome from Skytop or walk.haha. I couldn't find "skytop" lot on that map. Is it that little group of blue lots all the way on the left? Other Zip fans parking anywhere in particular or playing it by ear? Would that be the best place to find fellow visiting fans? Are there any large tailgates friendly towards visitors? If so, where? I'd like to see some friendly faces

  7. Go to Ohio Brewing Company! :D :D
  8. Z-I-P-S, LET'S GO ZIPS! Man am I fired up, I can't imagine what it'd be like if I was in Madison. GO ZIPS!

  10. I'll go one step further regarding Elton -- About 2 months ago he wore a nice feature on Zeke. In it he mentioned ZipsNation. Well he did, except for one thing...he made a conscious decision to NOT say "ZipsNation." Instead, he chose to say "the Akron fan message board."Elton had a chance to score big with us if he wanted. It wouldn't have hurt anything, and I believe he mentioned Scout.com and Rivals.com in the same column, so it isn't like there's a policy against direct mentions of sports web sites. But, he elected to pass. Thus I'm not going out of my way to help the PD any more than I already do (by links, content, etc.). Beyond that, Elton has been a real jerk to the Zips in the past. Hence why so many people tag him as "Ellen." He's not a real "lovable" guy. He kind of relishes being a poor man's Steven A Smith. Good for him. But it rubs me the wrong way.You know, I posted on that PD story about Zeke a while back. I signed up a screenname specifically for it. My post said exactly this: "Hey, that Akron fan message board is Zipsnation.org. Thanks for the coverage! GO ZIPS!" The screen name I signed up for was banned immediately. I wrote an email to ask why, and I was never responded to.
  11. Dear Zipsnation,Everyone available, please show up at Ohio Brewing Company. If you're having a group of friends go to another bar, change locations. It's VERY important that us loyal fans support these establishments that sponsor the Zips. If they're going out on a limb for us, we need to overrun their bar with Zip fans. Make those Suckeye fans go elsewhere. Show up! BRING YOUR FRIENDS! WEAR BLUE AND GOLD!!!!!GO ZIPS!!!RowdyZip
  12. Bump!Looks like they're getting further along with the bleacher pouring today. Working in the rain today, but all week seems to been quite busy!
  13. I think Getsy is a grad assistant for the coaching staff now...not sure where I saw that.
  14. i ordered some tickets for this but have not gotten them yet...anybody else?BTW, if anyone needs 4 tickets a Cuse fan is selling 4 of them for $40 total. You'll be hard pressed to get them cheaper. He is a longtime poster.Stubhub.com I paid $4/ticket. They're sitting on my coffee table right now.
  15. Could have sworn that I read somewhere that the stands were going to be pre-fabricated. But dang is this thing a thing of beauty. Best part is, the fervor will continue for the next 3 months and we'll see things start to get closed in....it'll look like a press tower with stands. I was told to expect a season ticket seat selection day sometime around may next year (they're planning on moving up the due date for founders club members). They expect this thing to be up, enclosed, and safe enough for the public to be through in about 8-9 months! Excitement grows!
  16. Man...that gets me all kinds of hyped up. 9 more days!
  17. How about everyone picks out a bar in the Akron area and we try to gather a whole ton of Zips fans to overpower the buckeye fans. We should be able to take over one bar, right?
  18. Way to write the story for 'em Dr. Z.  ACK-RONN
  19. 88, you trying to get the man shot?  Dumpy blighted bar: $3.1millionDodging bullets from riffraff: priceless.
  20. This can't happen. Jason Whitlock has them in the BCS. Fox SportsThe Ball State Cardinals are going to run the table and make a bid to crash the BCS bowl party. I (spit) you not.The Cardinals are loaded. In Nate Davis, they have quite possibly the quarterback with the most pro potential in the college game. Davis' favorite target is Wes Welker clone, Dante Love. The Cards have a 6-foot-6 tight end, Darius Hill, who can't be stopped in the red zone. Their right tackle, Robert Brewster, is one of the nation's best run blockers. Ball State punter, Chris Miller, is a two-time Playboy All-American. Ball State is this year's Boise State. They are going to run the table? Anybody with a 2 time Playboy All-American Punter is a lock to run the table. Not a very BALLSY pick to run the table. With non-conference games vs Northeastern (IAA), vs Navy (reasonable challenge, but home and WEAK defense), @ Indiana (hardest game on the schedule, and not that hard) and @ WKU (IA newcomer). I have a feeling if they DID go 12-0, they wouldn't be crashing anything. The good ol' BCS computers would have em in the 12-15 range.
  21. i'm about 72% sure it's 1pm.
  22. Check my link and look under Sports Bar AlertLots of Cuse fans are cruising around Armory Square on Friday night (Try the Blue Tusk or Kitty Hoynes). Armory Square crowds run from the early 20s up to aging baby boomers. For a Brew Pub/sports bar in Armory Square try Syracuse Suds. A few blocks north of Armory Square is Dinosaur BBQ...it is always loaded with Cuse and Visiting Fans. You can checkout the bars on Friday on Marshall Street on the the SU campus--there is one sports bar on the campus--not sure what the Friday night crowds are (tend to think college aged). Out in the 'burbs try the Buffalo Wild Wings in Cicero or any of the Tully's Sports Bars usually have fans.Think I should shell out for an lower bowl seat or should my $5 upper bowl seat get me in with the fellow Zip fans?
  23. Best post EVER  I wish I had that kind of imagination...
  24. That is a good price......which Best Western was it if you don't mind?haha...airport best western. probably why it's so cheap.
