  1. How many times are we going to see this whole ordeal replayed on these boards? Yes...some of you like OSU and like Akron, some of you love OSU and love Akron, some of you hate OSU and love Akron and some dont give a rats a$$ about OSU and love Akron. I belong to the latter. But here's a clue for those of you that have such a deep hatred of Ohio State: DONT TALK ABOUT THEM ON A ZIPS BOARD!!!!!! Sure, fine, discuss the teams this week when they are opposing eachother on the field, discuss the hell out of them later this fall when we have them at Lee Jackson for Soccer (where we're MORE THAN LIKELY to beat them). Dont piss on other Zips fans just because they follow other teams. As long as AKRON comes first, especially when the two teams are competing on the field, live with the fact that that individual is an Akron fan FIRST. As for me, I'll live in my state of apathy towards the Buckeyes. My parents and my family raised me following Ohio State and for no reason. The second I attended this fine institution that loyalty to the school in Columbus disappeared. If someone asks you the Buckeyes score, avoid ranting about your intense hatred. Say, "You know, I dont really know. I don't follow the Buckeyes, but did you see the Zips beat K.E.N.T. by 35 yesterday?!" Hatred burns more bridges with fellow fans than apathy does. That being said...and just like every week...GO ZIPS!!! BEAT OHIO STATE!!!!I'm sure we'd all love nothing more than to see a Zips win Saturday, regardless of where our secondary loyalty lies.
  2. Thanks...I found the buckeyeplanet site..it looks pretty active.http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/index.phpThe MAC smack has already begun. One bad thing about playing OSU is putting up with this MAC inferiority complex. It would be nice just to talk about the game, but I know that's an impossibility. Sure glad i went over there to look around. Take heart, Zipsnation. Their day is coming. It may not be this year, but within our lifetimes. The big boys feel the little guys comin on strong. Appy State was the start, and with each victory for the little guys drops a tiny chip of the "bcs" monopoly.
  3. Latest line i've seen has pushed to Akron +30.
  4. Wow. it's final. It looks like K.E.N.T. pulled out a victory by playing LESS horribly than Iowa State. Edelman 17/25 161yds 1td/2int, 75 yds rushing. Jarvis 113 on the ground. Both teams lost one fumble and were picked off twice. 12 penalties for 104 yards between the two. Just about equal possession time. Nonetheless, great job K.E.N.T. in knocking of a BCS team from the Big 12.
  5. Looks like Can't's gonna pull this one out with under 4 minutes to go with a 9 point lead. impressive.
  6. Yo...Bum. I'm lookin to hitch a ride up earlier. Think you got a spot for me? My crew doesnt wanna go till 2 or 3 now.
  7. not that i subscribe to this rag of a paper (though i do get knocks on the door about once a month begging me to purchase a subscription), but why does everyone else? Is the actual news portion that useful? Need something for the dog to whizz on? Have bird cages that need floor covering? Saving up for something to put the pumpkin guts on in a couple months? I'm sick of complaining about it, but it coverage actually appears to be getting worse. Is this paper that out-of-touch that they think there's absolutely no interest in a story covering the zips? Do they think we all care about a preseason game of OSU vs a minor league team? What can be done? Emails? Letters?
  8. I've got about 10 comin with me. We'll head to W. 3rd as well...be there around 1.
  9. Akron 21 Army 6Remember how good the D is gonna be? And Army is THE worst 1-A team...
  10. Am I the only one on here that thinks all of you need to grow up? Seriously? It's athletics. At two different state colleges. THAT'S IT. There's really no reason to resort to personal attacks. Here is the explanation:There are two types of sports fans in my mind:1) A fan that's loyal life-long and undying in their support for a single team and will simply defend that team to no end.2) A fan that either shares allegiance amongst more than one team or whom can change allegiances once or more in their lifetime. To me, you all are on both sides of the fence. Deal with it. I was raised as a Buckeyes fan as a lot of people were. There was no reason for it, none of my family members went to school there, no friends either. It's just expected. And that's fine. Things change, though it's ever so slowly. I begin to resent the buckeyes more and more with each passing season simply because of the farce that is college football. The "haves" simply are so afraid of giving any little bit to the "have-nots" that it makes it impossible for a small school like Akron (and MANY others) to get on to a fair playing ground. Things change. SLOWLY. And a lot of us Zips fans are impatient. So in the mean time....how bout we all get along, not personally insult eachother and gear up for another football season for EVERYONE'S favorite Summit County team.GO ZIPS!
  11. Rather than start another new thread i'll just post here, seeing as it's somewhat the same thing. Sports illustrated.com has issued it's "NON-BCS" previews. These "previews" are constituted of guesses at what teams regular season and conference records are. This is the most idiotic i've seen so far.MAC EAST W/L (CONF)Ohio 9-3 (6-2)K.E.N.T. 8-4 (6-2)Miami 7-5 (6-2)BG 6-6 (5-3)Akron 5-7 (3-5)<--!!Temple 1-11 (1-7)Buffalo 0-12 (0-8)MAC WEST W/L (CONF)WMU 8-4 (7-1)Toledo 9-3 (6-2)Ball St 6-6 (6-2)NIU 5-7 (4-4)CMU 3-9 (2-6) <--!!!!!!!EMU 0-8 (1-11)Apologies if someone put this up already. Oh, and here's a LINKif you dont wanna read my gibberish.EDIT: Also they pick WMU over Ohio in the MAC Championship.
  12. Not that it has anything to do with your original post but what stands out here to me is that Can't is being paid $650k to our $375k to travel to that school in Columbus.
  13. I've seen more than a few touting "roo town" and the new fear the roo logo on metros all around summit county.
  14. I love how players are pretty good "by mac standards" and "'(insert player) transferred from (insert bcs school) so they're clearly the most talented player in the(insert offensive/defensive unit).Whatever. 28-14 last time, and we've come a long way. Here's to optimism
  15. 2007 Preseason Coaches PollOf note: 10. Columbus State 23. Boise State No votes for any MAC teams, despite the hype for CMU/WMU/OU (to be expected).
  16. PG depth or log jam?Who starts at point this season? Do we start with dials running the offense? Does Steward step in as the gem recruit? And another unknown commodity, Steve McNees... We've got some depth, and with this guy added to the mix in '08, could we be seeing a transfer? Could McNees play 2 being 6'2 as Dials does? We've got some things to straighten out in the non-conf schedule so that we can repeat as MAC east champs.
  17. Am i the only one that's been checking this particular thread daily for the last week or so? Am I the only one that's incredibly disappointed when it's stuck on 59 posts, as it has been for the last week or so? Anything new out there or are we just waiting till Wednesday?
  18. Heh...just checked the blog...it is a beautiful stadium, the thing i noticed is the room around the exterior on the endzones leaving space for possible expansion. Curious the giant "PEPSI" scoreboard. Could we be playing at Pepsi Field? Cant wait to buy my season tickets...GO ZIPS!
  19. last i heard from matt cherry, he was with the bengals. but i am not sure if he gave up football to pursue his own entertainment business that he was starting or not. Cherry has "retired" from the nfl to manage his entertainment business. He had a myspace page for himself/the company a year back or so. I did a quick search today and couldnt find it. If anyone is bored, look around. As I can recall, it was somewhat amusing.
  20. On a related note to the stadium...it appears our lovely state senate has just FAILED in an attempt to make it even more difficult to get this stadium done. Let's get going guys before these idiots can throw a wrench in things next year.
  21. Hi all...it's been a few months since I've posted. I think the last time I was on here was some wrap ups for "the snub." Anyways, dont think about that. I just came across this article and hadnt seen it posted on here. Not much new info, hence me not starting a new thread, so i figured i'd put it up here. READ ME!P.S. It does include quotes from Director of Athletics "Mark Rhoades" and does reference the owner of the "Out Corner" business being willing to sell his property. Wonderful journalism. And it makes me wonder how it's so difficult for future professional writers, such as myself, to break into the business.
  22. not quite sure what to make of this...
  23. Clickety-ClickOne more reason stating that the Browns need to give Charlie a chance by upgrading the line in this draft...."Steiner said last month that he and the Dolphins have worked out the parameters of a new contract if a trade is completed (for KC QB TRENT GREEN).The Chiefs have also received interest from the Cleveland Browns about trading for Green, but Green does not want to play for Cleveland. His preference is to be reunited with Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, who coached Green for two years with the Washington Redskins in the mid-1990s.
  24. I agree with every part of this post. I see that DDBQ.com is sponsoring a bonfire to burn your Cleveland Browns merchandise. If it's the case, I'll be going carrying a bag of clothes and wearing the one piece of Browns apparrel that will remain. My Chuck Frye jersey.Please...Phil Savage...BE SMART!!!
