  1. 12 more votes in the AP poll...yet holding steady at 40th place I'm liking the 36th ranking in the coaches poll...that came out of nowhere...
  2. Not a promo...but I just saw an advetisement on time warner (comedy central) for the game. They're pushing senior night and the final appearance of "hometown heroes" dru joyce and romeo travis. Let's hope this works. Maybe some beacon ads this week?
  3. Hideous. Good likeness though. Was "recent" two years ago, or is your time/date stamp wrong?
  4. Two things:1) This weeks poll: Zips are in 40th with 7 votes. The difference from the Zips in 40th and K State in 30th is 30 votes.2) The Zips had a good week. The AP voters saw the same things we did: The Zips pounding a top 100 RPI team (Ohio) by 31 points, and defeating a top 110 rpi (and conference leader) in austin peay. The AP writers watch these things (even ESPNU) and they saw us win a game at home against a solid team by 17, even with the attempts to shift the game by the OVC officials. 30th place? Not out of the question. Likely? Nope. I see the Zips in the 32-36 range with around 25 votes. Probably being overoptimistic, so sue me.
  5. He actually played well in this game...had a huge first half. OU was a completely different team in the second half. Maybe the 15 hours of travel and the fact that it was 1am est caught up with them? 6-6 for the mac on bracket buster...
  6. Well...my guess of Akron (-12) was close...vegas line opens at Akron (-15). Anyone that thinks AP can win in the JAR and is willing to wager on it would get paid about 3.2:1 if betting the moneyline.
  7. Nice posts Peaynation. I have enjoyed learning about your team through your posts.Stop back here to zipsnation after the game. Always good to hear the "other side's" perspective.Hey, you should be able to place a nice bet on the money line if your final comes in. Hope your a betting man. Anybody want to guess what the spread is going to be? I'm guessing the money line is +350. If the zips were favored by 10 over Ohio (then top 100 rpi) I dont see why the line on this one shouldnt be somewhere in the neighborhood of Zips (-12)
  8. Really not gonna make a pick here...it's just too much of an unknown for me. The Zips will win...it's just a question of by how much. Ohhhh, what the heck...Zips 82Peay 68
  9. nevermind. UGH...BILL NEEDLE!!!
  10. anyone else trying to watch this game? Still the home shopping network for me... and the dvr guide doesnt say anything...
  11. UALR and UIC are bad losses. yes. But they were also the first few games of the season. The selection committee also weighs road w/l and last 10 games in their selection criteria. A team that goes 14-2 in the MAC regular season has to have a chance if people talking about the CAA getting two teams in, I dont see why the MAC wouldnt get two if the zips ended up at 16-3 in the conference, following a loss in the finals. That being said, winning out and winning the conference would likely net us a higher seed. So I vote that we win out, and not worry about the MAC getting two bids.
  12. I wouldnt say it's likely, but definately not impossible. I will say for sure that it is impossible for any other team in the MAC besides us.Some points to note:Zips 18-5 (0-1)vs. rpi 1-25; (0-0) vs. rpi 26-50; (2-2) vs. rpi 51-100Zips win out: 27-5, rpi top 40. AUTO BIDZips lose in finals: 26-6, rpi top 50. at large? Only if the favorites win their conference tourneys. Let's hope it doesnt come to this, I'd love a 27-win regular season.
  13. Interesting line for this one: Miami (+6) o/u 115.5What does everyone think about that one? I'd think K.E.N.T. would be a bigger favorite at home. The under seems very appetizing if I were a betting man. These are two offensively challenged teams...
  14. Honestly, it's a win win, since we have both of em one more time. I have a feeling all the marbles are gonna be on that game on march 4th....so tonight...GO MIAMI!
  15. One last post for the night...then off to bed feeling much better to have that nasty feeling after the toledo game outta my head.If you dont know already, check out BOBCATATTACK.COM and watch a bunch of people go from discussing how they were going to win in the jar to calling for their coaches head, forefeiting the season, and sulking like one mr. a. walther. If only all Ohio fans were as sensible as jupitertoo...
  16. what she said. and i still didnt get into my driveway, two neighbors helped me and i'm stuck 1/4 of the way into my street.
  17. 1. Equal. one point, one foul.2. Yes. 3pts in 2 minutes.Bubba really is a cancer the way he plays. He cant create his own shot, and when a team plays tough d on him he'll do nothing but get upset and create turnovers by forcing things. It was probably one of the best things to happen to akron for the guy to leave this team.
  18. It's incredible how right this is...except for the fact we won by three times that much...complete domination by the zips, it was worth the trip.
  19. I'm sure the league office would cooperate considering the weather and the fact that OU has to travel as well. Why not play Wednesday, for example? I wonder if as conditions worsened during the afternoon, the athletic department considered that it might be ill-advised to encourage people to come to the game anyway, even though law enforcement was asking people to stay off the roads unless it was an emergency. Practically speaking, OU forced the issue by arriving on Monday If they're already here, why not stay until Wednesday at this point? The cynic in me thinks that UA's probably more than happy to take the money from people like you and me who've already paid for the tickets and get the game over with. Anyway about tonight, the upper stands are nearly empty....I wonder if they actually moved people down to the lower seats, especially on the side the camera sees? Would they actually do that?Nice to see Bubba getting an earful. Glad OU's having FT trouble as well. Yup. about 5 minutes into the first half, most of the upper reserved and general admission were sent into the lower reserve to fill things out. it was a nice gesture by athletics to reward those who showed up. That wouldve been a win on any court, we really did dominate them in every facet of the game. incredible! look out austin peay!
  20. Maybe this is wrong...maybe it's not...but here goes anyways. Work from a very special source who chooses to remain anonymous...
  21. Crap. This is what i'm scared of. Those that dont live within a three mile radius of campus will have a very difficult and dangerous time getting to the JAR. The interstates and sr 8 should be fine, but getting to and from them will likely be the problem. Ticket office says there's about 1,500 tickets available to be sold. That means probably about 2,000 people show. That doesnt lend itself to home court advantage. I'm guessing i'm not going to have a voice by the second half. I'll cheer extra loud to make up for your absence, doccomet87.
  22. I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. The odds of it happening? Slim to none.Big info and a new thread coming within the next 20 minutes. It's gonna be goooooood!
  23. No worries. Just called the ticket office and they said the game is on for sure. Ohio U is in town, so the game goes on despite the cancelling of classes. WHO NEEDS BUBBA!!!
