  1. This Just in: We have another 2010 commitment. From Top Drawer and ESPN reports, a verbal from Gabriel Genovesi, Mequon, Wisconsin. Not familiar with this kid. No position listed, no national team play. Will try to find more. He's the second commit, after US-U17 captain Perry Kitchen.I am from WI and joined to follow Genovesi as he goes on to Akron. If it helps, Genovesi was recruited by several D1 schools (SLU, Wake Forest, GTown, GWU, to name a few) in all 3 field positions. He played USSF Academy for FC Milwaukee but now plays on a mens team (ages range from 20-30), the MK Majors. He is also a State Track Champion in the 400m and has the longest throw in I have ever seen in my life. He did play for the WI 1992 ODP team and the regional team but then joined the USSF Academy, where they do not allow you to do ODP. His Dad is FDU Hall of Famer Michael King and who holds a NCAA D1 scoring record and played with the Cleveland Crunch. Another interesting note is that he started playing soccer in 8th grade. Here is a link: http://ussda.demosphere.com/teams/10876653...8/11635408.htmlThanks for the info! I'm particularly intrigued by the distance on his throws... if they turn out to be anywhere near as valuable to UA as Rory Delap's are to Stoke City, we're in for a real treat. A good long thrower can really change a game.
  2. I could watch this video all day. Thanks ZTZ!
  3. Watch and enjoy, Fletcher is still here and Kenny Hayes, it will be fun.My best advice to you is change your name to Redhawkpuck and enjoy hockey season. Because you're yesterday's news in your other two major sports.This.When the first thing you can say about your team is "Fletcher is still here", one can only LOL at your smack talking. The high point of your season will be leading the conference in beard.
  4. Sounds reasonable to me. When they finish the new field it looks like it will be a very nice place to win a road game.
  5. I think you have them in the correct order. Yes, go with that.Doubtful, Bardo didn't even start the 2nd half of last year. It was Nik starting at C. So if Zeke isn't quite ready to take over the starting spot I'm sure it will be Nik starting at C. I would go with Nik, Zeke, Bardo. Not quite, good sir. Bardo's quick feet and supreme coordination make him a shoe in for the starting spot.I know no one is going to agree with me, however my feeling is this. It will be Bardo, Nik, Swiech. Zeke Redshirted The reason The team has to many Center to begin with. If Zeke dosen't knock the soxs of KD, KD will Red shirt him to save him for the 2010-2011 year. KD has done it before. It's just my opinionI can't imagine Marshall not being in the starting lineup from game one, let alone redshirting.
  6. If everything goes as planned at work I'll be heading up there. Should be a good one. Anyone doing the upstate New York tour next weekend (soccer @ Buffalo Friday, football @ Syracuse Saturday)? I'm planning on that as well.
  7. Nagbe was sandwiched by two defenders just outside the box, when he went down he was in the area but the contact was initiated just outside. You know how it goes, they always spot those a step or two outside the 18.
  8. If any of the three of them see the field at UA, I'd consider it a bonus. It's just as likely that I'll be named our head coach as it is that Henderson will ever play here. Why wouldn't Hoobler see the field?Traditionally our top recruit doesn't pan out for one reason or another, just preparing myself for disappointment.

  10. I think since most schools have only played ten games or so, the teams aren't well "connected" yet for lack of a better term... I would expect this thing to look drastically different in two weeks. At any rate, it's not necessarily a bad thing since we have five teams on our schedule who play Northwestern. I'm slightly more optimistic now that we won't play a true road game in the College Cup this year than I was before this was released.
  11. Thanks for the tip, I'm extremely anxious to see this... unfortunately our schedule is losing its luster by the day and I'm afraid we won't be #1 (I expect to see UNC there). There's not much help the rest of the way either... Michigan is probably our best opponent remaining. If we keep winning it would be pretty hard to deny us a top four tournament seed though.
  12. If this isn't at least a five-goal victory I'll be astonished.
  13. Looking better and better... Wake lost to Charlotte and Maryland lost to George Mason last night.
  14. I looked closely at the picture but I'm not sure what you were referring to. Was it something specific to the Zips? So get your lazy butt out of bed and answer my question. It is nearly 4 AM there, the day is already wasting away. I could be wrong, but I think ZIP is noting that the Barca player opposite Steve in the picture is Lionel Messi, arguably the best player in the world.
  15. Ohio St. knocked off Michigan St. over the weekend, so now we get to do the honors of handing them their first loss. I'll go with 3-0, despite OSU packing the box and playing for a tie.A few other random notes from last week's games...* The ACC keeps beating up on itself, and I think that if the season ended today, it would be UA and three ACC teams that got the top four seeds (Maryland, UNC, and Wake Forest). It's tough to say with no RPI to look at yet, but I would think we'd be a strong choice for the top overall seed at this point. * Our only ACC opponent, Virginia Tech, has started 2-0 in conference play. A decisive win when we travel to Blacksburg in a couple of weeks would go a long way towards further padding our tournament credentials.*All of the other ten or so schools that I would give a legitimate chance to win the tournament this year have looked very beatable. The best sides have been posting one-goal and overtime wins against far inferior teams (UCLA beating San Deigo 2-1, Maryland beating St. Peter's 1-0, Wake Forest edging Elon 2-1, and UNC in a 2-1 OT victory over East Tennessee St. just this past week for example).* The best games for the MAC so far have been NIU's tie with North Carolina and Hartwick's win this past week over #14 Dartmouth. Other than that, the other teams from our conference haven't really done us any favors.
  16. I don't know what all the fuss is about... all three of the teams that we've lost to so far are better than we are, and we won't see another team as good as any of them for the rest of the season. The only thing that's frustrated me through the first few games is the horrendously boring and predictable plays that have been run on offense.
  17. We could be Can't St.?
  18. Well if he can improve his unathleticness by 20% within the next 30 days I will consider not recommending that we revoke the scholarship offer. You really think UA couldn't use a guy who was recruited by the most talent-laden team in the entire country? Really? I think CraftyMFer has a much more realistic view of what Euton would bring to the table for us.
  19. All Akron so far... It's funny that we had three opportunities that forced fantastic saves from their keeper, and it was an attempted clearance off of a defender's back that resulted in our only goal.
  20. That's all she wrote, Roos win 4-1!
  21. I think you can make it 32-0-0... Zips held a 3-0 halftime lead and currently lead 4-1. Goals by Sarkodie, Nagbe, Bunbury, and Mwila.
  22. W00t, How does Mwila look in sub for Nagbe? How much pace do those two have? Can Tulsa say with either? Seriously.Mwila and Nagbe both look solid (and have pace to spare)... couldn't quite put any goals together after that first one though. Tulsa played much better defense in the second half (formation switch that kept more men behind the ball). Meves made a great outstretched fingertip save on a shot that looked almost sure to tie it up as well. Hopefully we'll pick up two more wins in Cincinnati this weekend.
  23. Teal was denied a foul on a breakaway and Coach Porter was carded for protesting the no call. Teal was booked for kicking the ball away a minute later on a Tulsa free kick... He was understandably frustrated. The cards were about the only thing they (Tulsa) have reason to cheer about thus far.
  24. First 20 minutes have been a Zips passing clinic.
  25. Ampai!!! Teal puts it across and Ampai finishes. 1-0 Zips.
