Sure they can, these rankings are meaningless. The only ranking that matters is the one the seeding committee gives us in a few weeks... and they've definitely been known to shaft us.

Unless they kick one of the convicts in their backcourt off the team (what are the odds of THAT happening?), there is no way Can't finishes fourth in the MAC East.

If this is indeed true, it's a bummer. Not that we'll be bereft of talent if he goes pro, but having a proven finisher up front is invaluable and while there is a wealth of new talent arriving next year, I don't know that any of them are strikers. Steve's brother Gabriel is a professional footballer in England (a defender) owned by Fulham who played on a loan spell for a year and a half with Stoke City (in the English Championship at the time, newly promoted to the EPL this year) and currently playing with League One side Peterborough United. Anyway, how 'bout one more year Steve?

RPIStill have remaining games against #13 (Michigan), #27 (Buffalo), and #30 (OSU) that could help... unfortunately Wright St., Penn St., and Western Michigan will drag it down. I would say the odds of getting more than one home game in the tournament are slim. Winning our remaining nine games would help. The good: 3-0-1 vs. RPI Top 25The bad: Seven teams on the schedule currently in the bottom 50... and we tied one of them.

Thanks for the update Cap'n, your "insider's take" on any issue is always highly valued... but why couldn't the athletic department have been as forthright about this as you were above, say, two months ago?

Nice, we needed this win, but I'm still pessimistic about what our seed will be like in the tournament, despite our NSCAA poll ranking. Our last four opponents before NIU have a total of seven wins.

I think a better paint job to put on it would be to say that Brooks wasn't really "our guy" because he never saw the floor and was only even on the roster because KD was doing him a favor. Shooting at an officer and a few raps for drugs and assault aren't on the same playing field in my not so humble opinion.

I couldn't believe they ever ruled it incomplete. A couple of hoseheads from Can't commenced the griping about how awful MAC refs are after the TD was awarded. I kindly agreed with them, they shouldn't have needed replay to get it right.
