  1. If we retired the numbers of all the great players we have had over the last 50 years there wouldn't be any numbers left. AHA! Talk about a marketing idea. Let's give all our players letters of the alphabet instead of numbers.
  2. Doesn't look anything like it!!! It's one Nike swoosh away from being identical.
  3. You mean CM8? It's the new math LR8=CM8 and PN7=SOL Be patient, Grasshopper. SOL will get his chance. And, unlike LR8 he will actually be able to see over the rumps of the offensive linemen. FYI .... 2011 season tickets sales are way done. I bought ONE GA season ticket for $60 today. They were happy to give me the food discount coupons. But, I had a little fight with the ticket office to get them to include the free parking pass as advertised in the ABJ. Oh, the free parking is in the Exchange St. parking deck. That would be close in parking in Cowlumbutt, but, in Akron its in Siberia. Perhaps, but looking at the situation from the other perspective - the defense can't tackle what they can't see.

  5. Be prepared for people to make comments like "Zakron?" And watch out for a lawsuit brought by the Air Force Academy. Just saying.
  6. I like animal nicknames. When I worked at Georgia Pacific, we rebranded our drywall brand to ToughRock and when we came out with our mold resistant campaign with Dens products, we branded the line DensGuard. Rebranding is a good marketing tool. Like I said above, I'm not officially saying it. Lots of MAC schools have rebranded...some good like EMU and some terrible like Miamioh. I'm not sure what our brand says about us. I'm not saying it though. Wake Forest is called the Demon Deacons. After years of going to games, I don't understand the mascot or name. The mascot looks more like an Angry Minister and is waaaaaaaay overdressed, with the top hat, cane and tuxedo, for sporting events. If they were trying to convey a real southern religious service, it would show 500 Baptists trying to squeeze into the last row of pews at the church. That wouldn't fit on a t-shirt very well though. I'm not saying anything though.... Really? Maybe they should change their nickname to the walnuts?
  7. If they work it like the H League, they will use the home team Television (or radio) announcers.
  8. Back in the 80s the coach at Iowa State implemented an interesting policy. All team members started out with one color helmet (can't remember if it was red or yellow). Then if a player demonstrated that he was worthy, that player's helmet color got switched to the other color. When the Cyclones came to town to play at Nebraska about half the team had one color helmet and the other half had the other. Looked "really cool" and must have been wonderful for morale. I'm surprised icoach hasn't thought of this yet.
  9. Nice find. Gotta love this exchange: Thames Rivals Bio Thames would be HUGE for us at cornerback.
  10. As things look right now, tickets to both games should be easy to get. Chapel Hill is the easy choice since you will be right there. The statium is in the middle of campus with little parking. The best college football setting I have ever seen. Be prepared to walk a lot. UNC fans are a bunch of babies and be prepared to want to punch some of them in the face while you are there, but hold back from doing so. Franklin Street uptown is a cool scene. Lots of hot girls walking around. Wake is a much different atmosphere. Stadium is not on campus but the non parking pass parking is real good across the street at the basketball arena. There are some bars across the street from the BB arena that are good enough if you don't want to tailgate. The BB lot isn't the best place to tailgate. The stadium is about the size if Info so all seats are real good. Games not sold out so you can buy a ticket. Sit on the Wake side on the end near the new scoreboard as the sun is brutal on the visitor's side. Wake fans are Ivy League type people as Wake is a great school. Old money people who never get too excited or too down. They clap politely. Since I have no school loyalty and just want to watch college football, Wake is the choice for me. It is also an hour closer to my house than Chapel Hill. Lots of hot 60 year old women walking around. It all depends on what you want to do. GP1, please define what a hot sixty year old woman looks like. Post pixs if you can. Being sixty-eight myself, I find that women in their forties are the ones I lust for. You are just an old troll pervert. Jane Fonda still looks good. Linda Carter sill looks good, Jacklyn Smith is still outrageously gorgeous I think all if them are aat least 60. Not sure though. I guess what I'm saying is if you are located in Hollywood and have a lot of money and freinds that know people , you may have a very miniscule chance of finding a hot 60 year old Suzanne Somers perhaps? I prefer two 30 year olds. Or three 20 year olds. Hopefully, six 10 year olds is out of the question.
  11. Hi Ho Silver!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Does he have the flexibility to do that?
  13. I do not think it is appropriate to be talking about fish and Miami hookers in the same thread. Please have all minors cover their ears before reading these posts.
  14. My bad. When Doug asked for season predictions, I thought he meant for the whole season. I am revising my prediction. After the first half of the first game, I predict we will be 0-0.
  15. Is this prediction supposed to include the subsequent forfeit win over Tosu or the actual results of the game (or won't it make any difference)? I have us going either 8-3-1 or 3-8-1.
  16. Nice report.
  17. I'm not sure I could ever explain the logic behind the newly adopted system to someone who thinks OOC games are more important than conference games. Well, actually I could explain it. They just wouldn't understand.
  18. Seems like a reasonable system to me (a lot like what the Horizon league does). Want to avoid playing a lot of games in the conference tourney (and hold your baby-sitting fees down)? Win a lot of games during the regular conference season.
  19. Imagine the stories the other guy can tell his friends about the crazy guy he talked to.

  21. I think Al may have just thought of another clause he should have had in his employmeny contract. And what would he call it? Why the Golden Parachute of course Not bad!
  22. I think Al may have just thought of another clause he should have had in his employment contract.
  23. I haven't witnessed a practice, but I watched this game. #90ranking is way too low.
  24. Move on? We have finally stumbled upon a unique facet of this thread and you urge us to move on! Do you realize how many issues in this forum we could solve with this type of analysis? For example, we could determine if the increase in the Bball teams ranking represents a significant increase from last year. Move on, and leave such topics up to pure conjecture? OK.
  25. Quincy Diggs .390 (ESPN) Brett McClanahan .389 (ESPN) Brett McKnight .385 (ESPN) Same stats here (CBS Sports) ...and here (Rivals) The 2011 Post Season Media Guide does NOT include the Notre Dame game. Quincy took and made one three point shot against the Irish. That elevated his percentage. McClanahan took a couple of shots against the Irish and his percentage went down. Brett fired up over two hundred three balls over the course of the season. Diggs shot forty-one three balls. Huge difference. Diggs by virtue of rarely shooting long shots gains a minor statistical advantage. He is NOT the best outside shooter on the Zips. I will concede that percentage wise with a small sample he "appears" to be ... blah, blah, blah. Truth is; Diggs had a terrible stroke and any one who follows the game would and should cringe when he took those long shots. My original intent was to give Quincy credit for his work over the off season for improving his game. Some of you find busting my ass more to your liking than recognizing this kid for his hard work. Actually, even though Diggs has a slight statistical advantage it is unlikely that it is a statically significant advantage over either Mc. Fortunately, while his 42 attempts is not a huge number it is large enough to provide a sample that is asymptotically normal and you can easily conduct a significance test for yourself. Meister I apologize that my Statistics and Combinatorics classwork was lost in the haze of time (well, at least I'm not pulling the "My turtle ate my homework" excuse again!). Could you estimate what the chi square score might be between Quincy and Mac? Based on standard deviations from the mean, or median, your choice. I would, but I have no idea what a chi square "score" is. Click the link for a quick refresher on the chi square test. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi-square_test
