I vote for watching the Zips win on espn or network tv.

For those of you who periodically point out how Akron takes a back seat to the F.l.a.s.h.e.s in sports marketing, this guy provides some evidence that it all depends on your perspective.

Well the folks in charge of the World Cup have figured out a way to make watching soccer both boring AND annoying. The only way baseball is going to be able to compete is to have everyone in the ballpark drag their fingernails across a blackboard while the game is in progress.

Forget these bozos. Let's go after some of them USC transfers that don't have to sit out a year. I like that idea. I agree. IIRC, most of those stud USC recruits had Akron as their second choice anyway. While that Akron as a "second choice" situation is true for MOST of the USC transfers, I understand Akron was the first choice of SEVERAL of them and that they only elected to go to USC because of illegal recruiting. We are going to kick some butt now that these student-athletes have realized their mistake.

An objective look at Ohio's FBS Football Teams
Zipmeister replied to ksu sucks's topic in Akron Zips Football
Northern Kentucky women often have troubles "squeezing" in and out of their tube tops. UC created a lubricant for that purpose. I have also heard that it's a hot item in Huntington, WV. p.s: I elaborated a little bit in the earlier post. I read the elaboration. The tube top answer makes more sense. -
There is no way the MAC invites Cleveland State to join. Those rascals haven't lost a football game in decades! And on a related note: the Big Ten office just announced that they will be inviting Temple to join the conference right after Ohio State changes their mascot from a Buckeye to a Flying Pig. Hey I like that idea.

Interesting post. I must have missed something though. What was the "'squeeze out' affect that UC created in the SW region"? -
Ponderings ... Is It Just Me?
Zipmeister replied to GoZips's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
What Bozo other (otjer) than 37 can't read? If you reread this thread, more carefully this time 37, you will see that Zipmeister did not start the slimy rumor that the men's basketball ship was tilting (tiltimg). He merely asked the dastardly rumor monger a couple of questions about the ship. SHEEEESH! -

I hadn't heard that the men's basketball ship is badly tilted. When did this happen and what caused the tilting? What will the coach have to do to right the ship? -
Ponderings ... Is It Just Me?

How would UA go about distancing themselves from this web site? Is their distance from this web site currently less than infinity? -
The big question in all this is will Iowa State be willing to give up BCS status and join the MAC.

Since we lost out on Chris Rock, I think we should go after this kid who could pass as his brother.

Those who truly appreciate irony must be hoping that the Colorado move to the PAC and the anticipated Nebraska move to the Big 10 end the conference affiliation shifting for the year. If it did, the Big 10 would have 12 teams and the Big 12 would have 10 teams. Personally, I'm perplexed. For most of my adult life I have been a BIG Nebraska fan and for most of my life I have hated the Big 10. Someone should have consulted me about this whole situation.

Them green screens is scary! This guy makes the kid from Can't look like major network caliber. Maybe next time it would be good to rehearse BEFORE going on the air.

Ladies Football 101 - Thursday 6/10/10
Zipmeister replied to wadscarman's topic in Akron Zips Football
These "workshops" are becoming commonplace across the college football landscape. My first reaction when the U of Hawaii started it several yrs ago was, "what a sexist idea" -- they exclude men from these events to make the ladies "more comfortable". Now my wonderment is elsewhere: It may be time for Coach Porter and the athletic department to begin workshops exploring the finer parts of The Beautiful Game. Unfortunately, it appears it is too late to time it in concert with the World Cup. But something needs to be done to increase interest in our national power team to the point that tickets must be purchased in advance for every game, because a sellout is likely. Go Zips. in waiting. I was thinking the same thing about riflery. -
Ennis opens up recruitment
Zipmeister replied to zippyman23's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
Trivia question: How many times did the boy guarding the sheep in the Aesop fable falsely cry "Wolf!" to fool the villagers before they stopped taking him seriously? Answer: Twice. Use your next one wisely. Let's just look at this experience as an object lesson in the old saying, "You can't believe everything you read on the Internet." After all, that's how World War I got started. -

Thank you. It's always nice to have one's efforts recognized. In this case, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. (--) -

I thought this was bad news and then I heard about Zeke transferring! -
I'm sure you gained so much insight while riding the pine. You have any idea how much talking goes on behind the scenes? Any idea how decisions are made, or how coaches find out about other jobs? You really think TW didn't have the entire staff knowing what was going to happen if they failed? Do you really think the coaching staff didn't already know going into the season what was going to happen? TW started September 10th (officially). Reno resigned 10/31 (officially). A whole 41 days. Everyone wants to blame the new guy, but Hunter had more information on the goings on than anyone. If any decision was made TW only signed off on it. It was JD's hire, he had as much say in it as anyone. But you guys jump on the AD. With no proof of what went on from the University's side. Someone sold you a bill of goods. People believe what they want to believe, regardless of what I type, so I say to all - enjoy your weekend. Going with the new direction of this thread, but preserving its recent tenor, just let me say, where do you get off telling me to enjoy my weekend? If I want to abhor my weekend or detest my weekend, then that's what I am going to do. Go Zips. I take it you will be watching the Golden Girls marathon today and then the Thirty Something marathon tomorrow on Lifetime....... Wish I had known about the Golden Girls marathon. Spent the morning kicking ass at my home club and the afternoon watching the boys hack it around Muirfield. May have to Tevo 30something cause the steaks and long islands at the corporate tent sure make the rain delays bearable.

I'm looking for the sweaters to pull off a 14 point upset.

Wow, Neither person has been in their position for a year and you already have a problem with both of them. Why is a TW hire "Bad news"? What was the "bad consequence" of the texting thing? Have you been living under a rock or what? Upon assuming his duties here, Icoach spent a lot of time texting. So much so,in fact, that he developed carpal tunnel syndrome and experimental surgery to correct the problem went horribly wrong and his arm had to be amputated just below the elbow.

Your link doesn't seem to exist. Hmmm you're correct. They must have taken it down temporarily because I read the full article earlier. They mention all of the expected (scheme switch, QB named in August, Lemon ordeal, Ianello's recruiting reputation) and some it up by saying we should expect some "rookie" HC mistakes in this year of transition. If you Google "JD Brookhart" and look at the "News" options only, the Orlando Sentinel story picking the Zips at #91 will be first in the list of three. I'll bet they'll have it back up tomorrow. Here is a new link. New Link I know that sum on this board appreciate your effort in posting this link. I due two.
