  1. It's quite possible he is the son of former Raiders offensive tackle John Clay. If so, Clay Sr. has made an incredibly bad choice about where to invest in real estate.
  2. A player absolutely no one has heard about from a school noted for drug use and violence. Good get. http://akron.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=9&a...714&yr=2011
  3. What are the odds? In another thread we got a verbal from a guy with the same name, but he is only 6'1" and 300.
  4. It requires no more staff than they currently have. Run the promotion from now until the end of July. The results can easily be tracked on a spreadsheet by someone in finance. Believe me, there are enough people sitting around the University with their thumbs up their butts that tracking this for Athletic Department staff would not be hard. This is a way for everyone in the Athletic Department to get involved and earn some extra cash. They all complain about not making enough, well...here you go. Or you could have someone in the athletic department track it using paper and a crayon.
  5. Now we are getting to the heart of the issue. Which is worse, a drunk Airman or a drunken Sailor?
  6. Rivals downgraded her from three stars to two stars upon learning of the Akron offer, and from two stars to one star once the Can't offer became public.
  7. Sometimes a "6'3" forward" is an euphemism for "good-sized guard lacking ball-handling skills."
  8. 3. Big concerns in the secondary. Particularly at safety. Only three players who took even a single snap at safety return at that position in 2010. Akron might need one of its incoming recruits to earn significant playing time as true freshmen. He has this listed as something he dislikes!! How many safeties are quick enough t take a snap away from the opposing quarterback? And we have three of them!! man that's quicktastic.
  9. I am going to add you to my "not really totally sure about the proper use of commas" list... You may have a point. I may have gone into a comma coma. Feel free to move one around to your position of choice.
  10. Yes, and some factors are more important than others. Old timers might remember Butch Lee who led Puerto Rico to a near upset over the USA in Olympic basketball. He decided to attend Marquette to play basketball because he liked the way the University's name was spelled.
  11. Another good reason to finish the fence between the US and Mexico.
  12. Let's not get crazy here. Baseball is far more interesting to watch (even when you are losing by 15 runs in the middle of the game like today) than soccer. I know it's a matter of personal preference but obviously baseball is due to the fact that baseball is FAR more popular at every level from High School on up. Also, I spoke with a parent of a recruit for a second today and he had just asked me and some others if we thought that Bangston would still be there next year. I told him i would think so (but i wish he wouldn't be) but i got the feeling he wasn't asking that for assurance but more so hoping that he would be gone. I can think of about 100 million folks who watched the UEFA Champion League final today who might disagree with this. and 4 of them speak English.
  13. Yes, but with young Jeff's keen interest in Polymer Science you would think Akron would hold a distinct advantage. Someone should get on his Facebook page and make sure he knows about our program.
  14. That's great. They should play more games for charity.
  15. Good point. I was going to suggest that g-mann probably has more fingers and toes than the number of college teams that average 1800+ in attendance, but I was unsure how frequently and with what degree of skill, he operates power tools.
  16. AHA! No wonder we can't sign any of these guys.
  17. The best way to improve the baseball team would be to move the University to Florida. If the varsity baseball team could be improved by adding anyone from the club team, it's time to drop varsity baseball. I have added you to the "then-than" list.
  18. Exact start times for all home games are unavailable at this time, but all will all be expressed as Eastern time. Any home games scheduled before November 7 will be Daylight Savings time, and any after that date will be Standard time.
  19. A picture of Darth pouring salt water, its’ meaning to me - speculative fodder. The questions been posed, schedule tough or schedule easy, the debate to this point leaves me feeling quite queasy. Perhaps it means if you’re in it knee deep, You better bail fast - what you sow you will reap. Isn't that what the Zips are doing this season? It is the dream come true about to become a nightmare. UofA plays an even more difficult schedule than UB does. We play a I-AA team, they play a I-AA team. We play IU and KY on the road, they play two BCS teams on the road. We play Syracuse at home, they play UCONN at home (both Big East teams). We will go 1-3 with our ooc and they will go 1-3. I can't believe some of you who think UofA should schedule up would also complain about the schedule we play and actually think UB is better scheduling than us. Can you make sense of this picture for me? You seem to find meaning and order where I dare not look.
  20. You do realize they were only an FBS starting in 2000 right? so your points wan an FCS team that moved up was a doormat from 2000-2006? 2007 5-3 conference 2008 5-3 conference 2009 3-5 conference Now UB may fall back to six years of doormat status but I really doubt it... And if they do it will have nothing to do with the fact our non-conf is hard.. It is hard to argue with numbers. I thought I was the only one having trouble understanding that. The non-conf schedule has nothing to do with MAC record. You didn't ride the short bus to school did you?
  21. So you are saying that losing OCC games against BCS teams will allow MAC teams to walk over them? Let me be more precise. With the exception of the last few years they were the doormat of the MAC, and the schedule they have may help speed their return to that status (although they will get there one way or another I don't see how the occ games can have anything to do with being MAC doormat. Perhaps my previous posts were unclear. Let me try one more time. The schedule they have MAY help speed their return to doormat status ALTHOUGH THEY WILL GET THERE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

  23. And all the best to them thar Bulls. My point is with the exception of the last few years they were the doormat of the MAC, and the schedule they have may help speed their return to that status (although they will get there one way or another).
  24. I'm thinking Stony Brook could be one of the biggest trap games of all time. My thought a couple of years ago (expressed on this board) was that the Bulls were headed back to mediocrity as soon as Turner Gill left town, so watching their performance over the next couple of years should be insightful.
