  1. I'll predict we slowly move towards playing for more than only two quarters per game. The only win prediction that is possible at this point is we will win at least two games less each season than we should if our current unimaginative OC is retained (e.g., anyone with a football IQ higher than 80 would have targeted Booker at least three times more than he was this year)
  2. Going to be tough to catch up with an unimaginative millstone for an O.C.
  3. Meanwhile, Western getting crushed at home by Idaho!
  4. I'm upset with both FAU and FIU for having decent seasons. They wreaked ESPNs bottom ten where both teams regularly appeared - on the sale line with the F from one school, the U from the other, and with I and A flashing in between. Now that was cool. Hope to see it again soon.
  5. What would be a good bowl matchup for the Zips? I'm dreading the pasting we will suffer at your hands. Please do what you can to have the Owls Take it easy on us. The only thing that will keep this game close involves a tragic bus accident.
  6. If we can get about 10 more cupcakes on the home schedule folks might start referring to us as THE University of Akron.
  7. I'm sure that If things don't work out for him basketball wise he will be rewarded in the real world commensurate with the work he put into his academic efforts.
  8. A couple of years ago a professional weather guessers group decided it would be more valuable to name winter storms rather than improving forecasts. Like hurricanes, the first letter of each name follows an alphabetical order. Zoey is the name they will use this season if we get to a 26th storm. We should start a campaign NOW to get Zippy used for the 2018-19 season.
  9. I think the odds makers may have focused more on the fact that the Zips have made a habit of playing only half of many of their games.
  10. According to ESPN, I'm an optimist. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21653211/predicting-41-bowl-games-college-football-playoff-national-championship
  11. Pleased to see that the rumored match-up with Razorback State was just a rumor. That would have been brutal. I think we have a punchers chance against FAU ,but predict an opening spread of 8.5 points with us as the dog.
  12. Two things I learned watching the MACC on TV. 1. It’s tough for 4th or 5th string announcers to tell the difference between Toledo and Akron. This was exasperating. However, my favorite part occurred when one of these dipshits explained that Akron had just defeated Bowling Green last week to win the Wagon Wheel trophy. 2. Refereeing can be confusing. My favorite call where there was a double foul (1 against each team) and you could see from the preliminary hand signals the ref gave that he had the calls ass backwards. It wasn’t until he was on mike and finishing the last sentence of his explanation of the infractions that he realized he had it all screwed up. I appreciated the levity to help ease the pain of the spanking we were taking.
  13. Re question 1: First I eliminated the other MAC bowl teams since no bowl would pair Akron with one of them. Next I evaluated the win/loss record, Sagarin ratings, and other proprietary data data for all the rest of the teams participating in a bowl and concluded we would lose to: Air Force, Alabama, Appy State, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Auburn, Baylor, Boise State, BYU, Cal, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colorado State, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Houston, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, LSU, Marshall, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Middle Tenn, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Navy, NC State, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, San Diego State, South Florida, Southern Miss, Stanford, TCU, Temple, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UCLA, USC, Utah, Virginia Tech, Washington, Washington State, West Virginia, Western KY, and Wisconsin. On the other hand, I concluded that we had a chance of beating: San Jose State and Georgia State (who ended up playing each other in the AutoNation Cure Bowl, as well as Utah State. Re question 2: The Zips game against Utah State was televised nationally on ESPN. We got a win and some national recognition, perhaps not as much as if we got pounded by THE osu, but I'll take the win over nobody Utah State.
  14. Two years ago the Zips were fortunate enough to get matched up against one of only three teams that received a bowl bid that we had a chance to beat. Hopefully the beat down we take in the MACC will put us in a similar position this season. Hope I'm wrong about the MACC, but the spread at this point is 21.5. Go Zips
  15. fixed it for you.

  17. Freshman Jordon Davis does have 4 years of high school experience.
  18. The Zips shot well, out-quicked and out- jumped the Flyers taking the crowd out of the game in the first half. In the second half none of that happened, but this team has potential. Add a couple of bigs next year and things could really get interesting.
  19. in 15 minutes per game. He's green, but those in the know say that he's a better shooter than his brother. Hope he doesn't pick tomorrow to prove that. also averaging 1.8 blocks. Reminds me of an early version of Zeke with better offensive skills.
  20. Sounds like you need to update your Dayton basketball roster info. See LZip's post above for a clue.
  21. One can only hope. If they fall for it, Toledo will be prepared for a Zip offense that goes into hibernation during the second half with receivers running routes out of bounds.
  22. You know God only invented weather forecasters so economist wouldn't feel so bad. GO ZIPS
  23. The Xavier of Summit county
  24. Dayton is beatable this year. New coach and many new players. Right now they are 2 and 2. If you want to experience "big time" basketball crowd first hand you should make this trip. These guys drew 12,000 a game when they were lousy back in the 90s; expect 13K loud fans. Last time Akron was in town I recall several members of Zip nation secured tickets up in the nose-bleed sections while seats in the first few rows right behind the visitors bench (always reserved for the visiting teams fans) went empty. I would guess these are the seats that you could get if you buy tickets through UofA. No reason you shouldn't fill them up. (special added bonus: Zipmeister will be sitting a couple rows behind you). Go Zips
  25. Really! This year appears to be an anomaly for Iowa State which is traditionally the doormat of the Big 12 in football, but very competitive in bball.
