I love how much the Timbers got into making this little guy's wish come true -
Stuck around for the first half of the womens game. Looked good but tired near the end of the first half. Sorry to read but not surprised they faltered in the 2nd half. Wish them the best to continue progressing and find some more victories.

Lots of Zips goals...5 (including a goal by our 2nd team) A brace by Sam Gainford First career assists for David Egbo and Joao Moutinho First career goals by David Egbo and Jackson Crawford A goal by Nick Hinds who looks to be getting back to form...so happy for NIck A PK save by Ben Lundt A team save by Manel Cordiero...so awesome to see Manel step in and take care of business A clean sheet by Ben Lundt and team Great job Zips. Keep at it!!!

Yep, Otto Orf with the Cleveland Force at the Richfield Coliseum. In the days that I thought indoor soccer was great. I can no longer say that now that I have such appreciation for the true beautiful game.

I believe that most of the schedule is done year to year and all by the coaches. Some match ups might be in the works in advance, but I think most of it solidifies throughout the spring and is finalized in late spring. I think what makes it look haphazard is the willingness (or not) of other teams to do a home and away. For example, Wake Forest has shown a willingness to come to Akron; UNC has not. Nice to schedule ACC opponents who are relatively close and often bring an RPI boost, but not at the expense of always playing at their place. I think the western swings are okay as a weekend set; the idea of UVU on Friday and Denver on Monday was well planned, but then having to sparsely schedule the next few doesn't seem so good. I suspect the Washington match on Friday was meant to be an "Akron Tournament" with a Friday/Sunday or Friday/Monday game set, but they may have had issues getting 3 other quality teams in that time period. Then U@B dropped mens soccer, and SIUE was added late to the MAC. That may have had some effect on ability to shuffle out-of-conference games.

"This was WMU's first time being ranked and hosting another ranked team. It was one of the biggest games in program history and the community of Kalamazoo came out to support in record numbers. A record crowd of 2,317 came to watch WMU defeat Michigan." -

I really can't disagree at this point with the top slots. I would have thought UNC would be higher, but they lost to UNC Wilmington and have not yet hit the better opponents in their schedule. Also, I agree, that given our Zips performance Saturday, I couldn't rank them either. Hopefully, they will put it together, or this will be a long season. As has already been pointed out, winning the MAC auto bid looks to be a tough road this season. -
Lucky to get out of St Louis with a draw after the red card. Don't even know where to begin with cleaning up the midfield. Also, getting tired of watching these Zips have numbers going forward only to hold up and regroup until the opposing defense moves up.
-
No way to sugar coat that our midfield is a mess. No connection from back to front. Sloppy and errant passes. Ill advised and slow passes backward, too. Need badly to clean this up.
-
My thought exactly for this season. Go Zips!

I renewed but downgraded...nothing to do with the coaching change, though. I planned to downgrade already. I don't live close enough to go to all of the games and end up sitting in the bleachers with others I know anyway. Why should I pay for "lower bowl" seat when not using it the majority of the time. It also irks me when some folks feel entitled to squeeze others they have brought into empty seats that are not theirs at my inconvenience. I don't mind them filling in the empty seats, but when they get irate that I don't want to move down a couple of seats (screwing up my view) to accommodate them, I have a problem. As far as the coaching change, how could any Zips fan hold a grudge about that. Win for KD (fat, guaranteed contract that takes him to retirement); Win for the Zips, good change to a program that had become stagnant.

The university does very little to promote Mens Soccer these days.

Changed since my earlier posting 4 Notre Dame 8 Michigan State 30 WMU 35 Utah Valley 41 E Illinois 42 Butler 54 Syracuse 62 SIUE 67 WVU 82 St Louis 85 Pitt 91 Denver 102 Washington 103 Akron 113 Cleveland St 125 Bowling Green 129 UMass Lowell 145 NIU 150 St Mary's 182 Marshall 200 UCSB UVU better than I thought, in RPI at least. UCSB and others hurt us as much as Notre Dame and Mich St could help. Ugh. -

I was not impressed by Denver or UVU, and we have a long way to go to prove our prowess. I should have been more clear that that poll is suspect because of the teams that are not on it as much as the seemingly strange positions of those that are. -

Let the matches be played. Some coaches poll certainly isn't going to decide that.
