Guaranteed would be difficult to predict, but chances are good with our Zips ranked #29 and the Hoyas #8 in RPI. Have to play well, which I'm confident in our team. Intangibles, such as referee who over or under controls the game, concern me. Playing in Georgetown's backyard is also a concern, but I would suggest our Zips look at 2018 ... MAC Tournament in Morgantown and NCAA Tournament matches at Syracuse, at Wake Forest and at Stanford. Tough places to play, but those Zips were on a roll, not to be denied and got it done.

My point wasn't that more injuries occur during OT, but that the NCAA soccer season is so compressed, our team sometimes plays 3 games in the span of a week. That's a lot of wear and tear with little time for recovery which leads to nagging injuries. Some of our players are nursing injuries and playing through them now. OT does not guarantee additional wins.

Providence defeated UConn 2-0.

Agreed @YipaZip Our team is on a roll. They deserve the university and fan support as much as we expect them to keep this going. Marketing has been useless. All the interest seems to be in saving rather than growing. It takes money to make money. As you said, there’s a game to win tomorrow. Go Zips!!! Looking forward to it.

The game should be played by FIFA rules.
-
I’ll disagree with both of you. Full 20 minutes of OT should be played as opposed to sudden victory which is a travesty to the sport like skipping OT and going straight to PKs, counting away goals as more than home goals, or the clock counting down rather than up.
-
I respectfully disagree. The extra minutes are a lot of wear and tear on our players in a compressed season. We'd likely see more injuries.

IndyEleven lost 3-2, but what an AWESOME goal by former Zip Aodhan Quinn…

Pathetic that there has been no strategic plan for growth...seemingly, just cuts and more cuts. That's as unsustainable as the debt. Hopefully, Nemer has or can develop a plan and put the right leaders in place to help him.

As much as I dislike WMU, this will not have a good effect on Zips SoS / RPI. Ugh.

2024 rules changes, a pdf of the NCAA Soccer Rule Book can be downloaded from the NCAA website at https://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4692-2024-and-2025-soccer-rules.aspx Sudden victory OT returns for post season games only... For postseason games, which include conference tournaments and NCAA tournament games, the following procedures shall be used when a game is tied after the regulation 90 minutes. 7.2.1 Up to two sudden-victory overtime periods of 10 minutes each shall be played. The first team to score wins the game.

Zips with the lone SOG. Good result in a tough place. Some Zips may not have played as aggressively as usual. YC accumulation rises to 8 for post season. No worries. Looking forward to the home BE Tourney game on Nov 9th. GO ZIPS!!! -
Agreed. Regardless of RPI points, it will matter to the NCAA Tournament Committee if the Zips finish the regular season on an 8-0-0 run and undefeated in the Big East. Have to be cautious wrt yellow cards v UConn and hope we don’t have overzealous refs. Go Zips!!!

Some things are better left in the past.

I deleted it on 2nd thought because I actually don't like that strategy either. It's a tough situation with the unpredictability of NCAA refs. There is a week to prepare for UConn, and I do think we have capable players on the bench. But, I'd also prefer not to purposely mess around with what has been working.
