Truth is that there is at least one poster on this forum (not me) who has seen a lot more Zips men's soccer than most of us and that goes well back past 2009 and 10. Before you gripe about someone's comments about greatest Zips scorer of all time, please dig up the Zips Men's soccer media guide that UA used to publish so that you can fairly compare players' accomplishments. Too many current fans want to ignore any accomplishments except for the players whom they know and have seen. I don't want to jinx Shooky either. He is having a great season, and I hope it continues for him. I'm sure he's among top Zips scorers and hope he will continue to climb that ladder. Sorry to hear about Joey. I hope he is ok and fully recovers quickly. Thanks to those who kept me up to date last night while on this business trip and at a function where I was unable to watch. I appreciate the texts. Go Zips!!! -

I hope you're right. Unfortunately, I'm out of town and tied up this evening; unable to watch. Disappointing to have to miss a road game so close to home. Go Zips! -
@zippy-claws I acknowledge you didn't outright call for our ZipsWSoc coach to be fired. I was picking up on your seeming lack of patience and an assumed want of a change. "I just do not see a coach with only DIII experience knowing how to recruit for a DI program at this point, and no one seems to want to help her succeed." ... doesn't seem very supportive to me. I'm not at all connected in our Athletics Department as I admit I 'm not a fan of our current AD and the minions he has hired and avoid them for the most part. Who would you expect to help our coach recruit other than her assistant coaches? Unfortunately good $$$ after bad are wasted trying to improve a Zips gridiron program that seems destined to always be bottom 10. The dismal record of Akron WSoc also has to make it difficult for anyone to recruit effectively. They have no history on which to sell the program. Any coach is going to require significant time to establish some type of credibility.

I disagree with next season being the deciding season. Seems to me that Coach Simonetti should be allowed at least 3 recruiting classes before we even think about making a change. You cannot count last year given that she was hired ~2 weeks before the season started.

It’s interesting when you read the gridiron thread how discouraged the posters are but are not ready to fire the coach or shut down Zips gridiron. Seems to me that our Women’s Soccer Coach and team deserve the time needed to rebuild from the disaster TFC left. Jen has had only 1 recruiting class.

Yes. I much prefer the BE. Just have to step up our game as in the past. Edit: The only thing I don't like about the BE is Flo Sports. Ridiculous price for Zips fans to follow one sport. -
I'm far from a futbol strategist, but the way DePaul was playing with 5 in the back and little pushing forward seemed to lend itself to our loading the box and sending the ball in as much as possible. They didn't seem to be much of a threat at counter attacking most of the game. Their best chance was on a horrible decision by our defender who found himself back on the bench...lesson learned, I hope, because he's been playing well for the most part.

Agreed. Some very nice subs to get the offense going! Great job!!!

2-0 win...nice. But, it's so frustrating to see the same players for so many minutes when they seem so disinterested. The first half was a snooze fest. Once some of the bench players whom we don't often see came in, the pace of the game picked up. I don't understand recruiting the players we have and letting so many of them sit the bench with so few minutes. -

Personally I’m really happy that you have decided to post on this forum. I wish you would continue to do so more often. However are personal attacks always your style when you disagree with someone? Also, where are your posts during the off season and Spring exhibition season? I notice you seem to post mostly to gripe about others’ posts when they don’t agree with your opinion. -
https://www.mlsnextpro.com/about/competition-guidelines POINT SYSTEM: Clubs will receive three points for a win in regulation, at least one point for a tie and zero points for a loss. Any match which ends in a draw in normal time will go to a shootout using kicks from the penalty mark (KFPM) to determine the winner. Both teams will receive one point for the tie and the team winning the KFPM will receive an additional one point. To keep this relevant to a Zips Mens Soccer discussion, this was also the rule in the Spring Exhibition Season in which the Zips competed in the College Spring League. (* Teams earn 3 points for a win, 2 points for a shootout win & 1 point for a shootout loss)

I agree not because you wrote this, but I prefer staying as true to FIFA rules as possible as well as the collegiate compressed schedule. MLSNEXT Pro drives me insane with awarding a point for a draw and then going to PKs and awarding an extra point to the team that wins the PK shootout. I hate PK shootouts...no sane league would ever add more PK shootouts than necessary.
