  1. I agree. Let's be real here. Realistic comparison of what we think different players do better or worse than others can be interesting. Hyperbolic criticism of players that is not realistic is not to be taken seriously. For example, here's a pair of real stats that make McNees and Rico look both better and worse than the other: Assists Per Minute Of Playing Time McNees -- .09 Abreu -- .19 Turnovers Per Minute Of Playing Time McNees -- .04 Abreu -- .11 So for every minute on the floor, Rico gets more than twice as many assists as McNees, but McNees has less than half as many turnovers as Rico. Here's another pair of contrasting stats: Steals Per Minute Of Playing Time McNees -- .02 Abreu -- .07 Fouls Per Minute Of Playing Time McNees -- .06 Abreu -- .10 So for every minute on the floor, Rico gets more than three times as many steals as McNees, but McNees commits fouls only about half as often as Rico. Being real about this is to admit that there's no way anyone can watch the games, compare the stats and come to a reasonable conclusion that one of these two players is head and shoulders above the other in all aspects of the game. dave, my post had nothing to do with steve. just a simple observation that abreu is a little out of control. take it easy pal
  2. It would be stupid if a player did that every single time. Of course, Rico didn't do that. Far from it. He had 4 assists in 15 minutes -- more assists per minute played than any other Zips player. What's the deal here? Are we playing "I'll match your silly McNees exaggeration and raise you a double silly Rico exaggeration?" Very disappointing to see a Zips fan forum turn into a Zips player trashing exercise in the middle of a big win streak where the team is performing at its highest level in a long time. hyperbole dave, hyperbole. let's at least be real here, I love this winning streak as much as anyone, but he was out of control more times than not. I realize we're here to support our players, and having someone that wants to drive with the ball is refreshing, we haven't had that in a while...but this isn't a fantasy land where we just pretend all our players are perfect out there either. just saying, he's a freshman, and i'd like to see him improve in that area.
  3. Abreu was out of control last night. There's a point where the drive and dish is nice, and a point where it's so stupid to put your head down and drive to the rack every single time---without the dishing part of "drive and dish."
  4. Instead of dwelling on the refs...maybe we could've hit a free throw? it's over with, and just as much the zips fault, as the refs fault, or miami making a miracle play.
  5. While I think unions aren't the greatest ideas (especially public ones like GP notes), at least get your facts straight http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11053/1127102-53.stm
  6. Are you aware of the turnover this year's team had?
  7. i agree 100%. It sounds mean, but when my friends think of the rowdies, they don't see them as people they want to be associated with, so i can't talk them into sitting down low. Don't know how to fix it, but it is what is.
  8. underachieved? might wanna check those pre-season predictions brotha.
  9. Better yet, when a student walks in, hand them a wristband and inform them that their section is down low. yes, students should not only all be allowed to sit down low, they should have to go there, until it is full. i get the feeling that a lot of people going to games that don't sit down low actually are rowdies, but just kind of don't like the regulars, if you will. so they sit up top.
  10. I mostly blame the JAR. Absolutely. The facility was to blame, not the students. The JAR was only allowing older folks in for this game. The JAR stopped students at the door and wouldn't let them in. If I were a student, I'd organize a protest against the JAR for discrimination. Obviously, the JAR wasn't stopping us students from attending, but it may have been preventing an accurate reading of how many students were actually there. The floor seats were fairly empty last night, but who is to say that there weren't quite a few students in the GA seating? Until we have one large designated student section, it is going to be really difficult to tell how many students attend. From where I was sitting on the floor, I picked out several students in Rowdies shirts in GA. I know that last year as a freshmen I didn't join the Rowdies and I attended quite a few games in the GA section. I'm not on the Rowdies board, but if I were here is my suggestion for filling the floor seats: I think that the floor seats should be opened up for all students 10-15 minutes before tip off. If you're a Rowdy and want to guarantee a floor seat, then show up a little early. Otherwise, those seats should be offered to the other UA students. Last night's basketball game was great and it's a shame that more floor seats weren't filled. I agree entirely Jacob...ZachtheZip and i had this exact conversation at halftime last night. What would also be a good idea is to announce it as well over the PA that they can move down. The strictness of only allowing rowdies down low is really really stupid. fixed
  11. Zeke needs to stop taking stupid fouls. The refs might be a little harsh on him, but he needs to nit put himself in positions where they can call those fouls. As my basketball coach used to say "You guys are the dumbest smart kids I know."
  12. Let's all welcome Alex's girlfriend to the board!
  13. In the past 2 years, Steve, and the Zips, have played their best ball when he was running the point. I'll leave it at that.
  14. He's very much on the radar of many. Thought it was cool to see Boals and Lamont Paris facing each other as asst. coaches today. Thats a real credit to KD and our program. CONGRATULATIONS Lamont! (easy way to hate on tosu without having to head over to the Smack forum ) uh oh, here comes buckzip.
  15. Hopefully we're getting hot at the right time. We beat the top two teams in the MAC, so no game is out of the question. Woulld be nice to see Zeke stay out of foul trouble, we will need him down the stretch.
  16. we're such a different team with Zeke on the court. Our success will be directly related to how long he stays out of foul trouble. The sky is the limit if he can stay away from the 2 ticky tacky fouls he gets a game.
  17. Buckzip entering and accusing everyone of penis envy in 3,2,1..
  18. I like to think I'm pretty conservative, but man...some of you need to get out of NEO/the 20th century. Maybe you can take the train.
  19. Off the top of my head, dayton is DII or DIII football, but DI bball. Duquesne is DI bball but non-scholarship football.
  20. Well, that throws a massive wrench in things. The rumors were there, but i thought it was just fanciful thinking because the logistics are much too complicated. I expect the MWC will invite more teams on a reactionary basis in the near future. This is a ridiculous development. Texas Christian in the Big East?! The BCS should revoke the Big East's BCS status. They're simply not worthy. lol you realize they are ranked #3? not to mention, who would their bid go to? The MWC who lost utah, tcu and byu?
  21. Bought two for today's game, and the delivery details on the order were blank. I'm hoping this means they are will call? As I haven't received them yet. I called the ticket office and of course they are closed. Any help?
  22. You're killing me with this Brian Kelly example. Not saying you have a bad point, but, they stink.
  23. Brian Kelly, really? Have you watched a Notre Dame game this year? Given the talent at ND, I'd say he has maximized their potential. And to think, iCoach is partly responsible for that. Their last 3 recruiting classes are ranked #14, 21, and 2, respectively, according to Rivals. They have talent.
  24. Brian Kelly, really? Have you watched a Notre Dame game this year?
