  1. OU has a good record, but started off the season with a buffet of cupcakes. Now that they are playing better teams, they are not winning.
  2. Looks good when he's in an offense designed to take advantage of what he's good at. Imagine that.
  3. Creighton's discussion on Akron I can only hope that their team is as misguided as their fans.
  4. He played on offense in high school with one of our own players, if that helps.
  5. Mid-major top 25: 16 RealtimeRPI: 130
  6. In actual conference realignment news, Chicago State is joining the WAC.
  7. Don't believe them. He's going to Purdue.
  8. Not only are we playing Arkansas Pine-Bluff on the 18th, but it's during winter break, after exams. There might be 20 students there.
  9. There are plenty of sports-related majors out there already. Sports management, excercize science, and a bunch of others.
  10. The band moved so the student section could be all on one side. The problem is that I wish they were both reversed. I still believe that the band should be located up top, in the bleacher area marked off for them. I also think they need to cut back on the number of times they play songs by about half. Go to any other D-I basketball arena, and pay attention to how often the band plays. It's nowhere near as often as ours likes to.
  11. No. Cinci only hires coaches from Central Michigan.
  12. I have always advocated forcing the students into a section of their own. I hate having them scattered throughout the GA seats, getting hushed by grumpy fans who feel that their ticket entitles them a cheers-free game to watch. It completely kills the atmosphere that we need to build to get more people to the game.
  13. They're doing a terrible job of making the best of the situation, then. If they want the sections to be unified, then they need to switch to the opposite side of the arena. If they want to keep the students out of GA (and sitting down there if they don't feel like walking all the way to the opposite end of the arena from their ghetto entrance) and out of walking through the reserved seats then they also need to switch to the other side of the arena. Section off the upper north side with rope, so the only seating option for students coming in is to sit there. It's not a difficult thing to figure out. I have no idea why they insist on doing everything backwards. The design of the JAR is bad enough without them screwing up the logistics further.
  14. The quote from the Facebook account was Doesn't get any more straightforward that that.
  15. Not tomorrow.
  16. For some reason, the student section has been moved to section 11. There will be no students in the lower half of the arena.
  17. Slightly less, but he'll still be gone.
  18. NIU's biggest issue is the computer rankings. A win over Can't would give them a significant boost.
  19. http://www.themonitor.com/sports/utpa_bron...19bb30f31a.html Texas Pan-Am to the WAC.
  20. Knowing them, they would try to replicate their success by hiring Luke Fickell.
  21. Addition by subtraction.
  22. Marshall left because they saw that the grass was greener. At that time, C-USA was ECU, Houston, SMU, Tulsa, UCF, Memphis, Tulane, Southern Miss, UAB, and Rice. UCF, Houston, Memphis, Tulane, ECU, and Southern Miss have left for the Big East. Those schools have been replaced by what is essentially the old Sun Belt. The MAC is better than what they are left with. They'll go where the grass is greener, just like they did before.
  23. That's a station I think we should look into broadcasting our games from. They don't get very good reception in Akron, but they could replace the AM stations we use in the Cleveland area. They're desperate for carrying live sports, getting out-bid for every pro sport by the Clear Channel stations.
  24. NMSU and Western Kentucky to C-USA now. I wish the MAC would do something. While I understand that they've benefited by staying out of all this, it was mostly blind luck that pushed them up to where they are now. They're having a good run at the right time, but there's no guarantee that it will stay that way. Make a move while the college sports world is swirling down the toilet, with the offer of stability and identity - two things that very few conferences can say they have. Taking Marshall back solidifies the MAC's position as being ahead of C-USA, which puts us ahead of the Sunbelt by proxy.
