  1. Aaaand he missed the FT.
  2. Finally. Zeke does something on offense.
  3. Finally, a bucket.
  4. Agreed. He and Harney wouldn't be afraid to muscle around in the paint. We play so soft without them.
  5. It's on ESPNU
  6. Most of the 3-point shots are wide open. Just have to actually hit them.
  7. We really are missing Tree and Harney.
  8. Gladden will sign tomorrow.
  9. I know at least two of the players signed today.
  10. Before Ianello, we had a record of 106-152-3. Not great, but aside from a couple terrible years it wasn't all that bad. If it weren't for the MAC's horrible bowl arrangements in the past (until just a few years ago, they only had one, for the champion, and everybody else sat at home even if they had 9 or 10 wins), we would have gone bowling six times in that span. Don't use the past few years to paint our whole time spent in the FBS. We were always hopeful, throughout that entire span. Success was always just a few bounces of the football away. We've had our share of bad luck, but things weren't nearly as bad as you make it seem.
  11. This makes it official that there is absolutely no reason to move to the Big East now. That conference is on a major downward trajectory.
  12. If our SoS was really that weak, it would have been reflected in the RPI.
  13. No. Just no. Get off this message board. You are no Zips fan. You are just a loser if you even contemplate going back to that wasteland.
  14. I've seen enough of players who don't give a sh*t whether we win or lose. Coach Bowden needs to go through and assess the attitudes of every player on the roster, and get rid of anybody with a poor attitude, regardless of their talent level. It's a poison and it's seeped into every crack of the football program.
  15. Out for OK State is going to hurt big time. Not too concerned against CCU or John Carrol. However, THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN.
  16. I don't know the schedule. You might get an answer from the recruiting coordinator, coach John Pont. You can find his email here, under the Football listing.
  17. Too many NCAA restrictions about how you can contact a player and when. We usually just tell their coach, who relays it to the player. Every school does it this way. The problem is that the high school coaches may or may not decide to actually tell the player. Maybe they don't want their player to go to Akron, so they never bother telling them that we're offering a scholarship.
  18. The 2006 recruiting class was probably the worst class in the history of D-I, only a year removed from a MAC championship and with a 24-22 record the previous four years. Go back and look at who we signed. How many of them even contributed a little?
  19. David Harvey.
  20. Now you're starting to get it.
  21. Success means we're less likely to scale back our athletics program.
  22. Or maybe they're just too busy playing Halo 4.
  23. There is a certain faction within UA across a broad swath of the institution that, for whatever reason, has made it their mission to sabotage anything related to athletics. At universities like OU and Can't, they have outspoken professors and others who complain to the media, stage open protests, and other things to let the world know their views on athletics. At Akron, they stay silent, but work their influences to screw us over. They do not share President Proenza's belief that athletics is like the front porch of a university. They dismiss the effect it can have on alumni interest, or long for the good old days of being D-III with no scholarships granted based on athletic ability. We've got a problem at Akron and the current focus appears to be on the basketball program because football did a great job of destroying itself without their intervention and soccer is untouchable thanks to strong academics and a coach who intimidates them.
  24. I'm not surprised. They made progress, though it wasn't readily apparent in the win-loss column.
