  1. We won't be able to hold an offense - 11 guys on the field - to under 40 points. Howard is just one guy, and he couldn't even hack it at Akron. I doubt he makes it on the field, but if he does he deserves a good squashing. And after that, OU will put in a real RB who was worthy of a scholarship and the beatdown resumes.
  2. Supposedly he walked on at Ohio U. I hope when we play him this season that our D-Line pancakes him, assuming he ever sees the field.
  3. I just want our coaches (and fans) to be more realistic. Everybody's way too ridiculously optimistic given the program's current trends.
  4. If they took down the tarp on purpose, whoever decided to shred it to pieces and leave the frayed edges attached to flap in the wind should be fired.
  5. Hmm. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with some of our players coming up through their youth system, now could it?
  6. The back was gone weeks ago. Now the sides are blown out, the electronics are exposed to the weather, the sound system is loose and moving around in the wind, and all it needs is one good gust from the south to pop out the ad panels.
  7. If you have been down Exchange recently, you've seen that the scoreboard is badly damaged from the windstorms this past month. I fear that another storm or two and the everything will be gone but the structural elements.
  8. Things are escalating, with Flossie being investigated for abusing a player. It looks pretty obvious to me that this is retaliation from the school district.
  9. 2 out of 3 people agree: Jim Tressel should be fired. Except in Ohio, where the ratio is reversed.
  10. Ianello take note. Something like this could be held during Springfest. It gets the student body involved with the program. And if you're lucky, you might find a few kids who could make the team.
  11. Well, if we have a spare scholarship to give, maybe we should offer this guy. He's guaranteed to have the "coolest name in the tournament" competition all locked up. Also of note is that Zips target Marcus Crider, who had verballed to Providence last year, just re-opened his recruitment.
  12. New offer: DT Mikal Myers
  13. Do any of last year's seniors have a chance to get drafted? Shawn Lemon, maybe?. Andre Jones, Jeremy LaFrance, Jalil Carter, and Corey Woods also have a slim chance.
  14. After the spring game, I'm altering my prediction to two wins.
  15. And today's followup in the ABJ. The kids were warned of the consequences, and did it anyway. But to see the school leaders try to defend the kids is wrong.
  16. Who are you quoting there? Ianello was supposed to be a great recruiter. I criticized his last recruiting class because he couldn't out-recruit any school at all, and so we ended up with a bunch of guys who had no other offer. He needs to go after players who have some talent but aren't on the radar of five to ten BCS schools. He's recruits like he coaches, doing things that would work for a program at the level we want to be at eventually but won't work for a program that isn't at that level yet.
  17. A majority of our offers are 3*s. More than the no-star players. Consequently, we haven't offered anybody who is likely to choose the Zips. Ianello needs to focus on finding players that have talent but aren't nationally known. Right now he's offering everyone in the region with a BCS offer and hoping that someone sticks.
  18. He was one of the fastest recruits in the country. I can see him returning punts, along with being an option at tailback. The defense won't see him over the O-line, which can be an advantage when you have speed like that.
  19. Zips bball assistant Cole Pittis is leaving Akron for Mount Union The name isn't very familiar to me.
  20. This is a good idea. Something that should be an annual tradition.
  21. http://www.ohio.com/sports/120438224.html last year there was some rule preventing them from holding it on a college campus, but it's back. Events like these are why the JAR needs renovated. How many top recruits travel through our doors that could have been impressed by the sight of a nice intimate facility but instead see an oversized high school gym? At least they get to check out the Rec Center.
  22. http://news-herald.com/articles/2011/04/22...iewmode=default
  23. Do we have leaders on the team? I can't think of any players on the current team that stand out as a leader the way Alex Allen did.
  24. So, will this year's defense be able to do half as well against OSU as our 3-3-5 did the last time we played them?
