Any internet links for Minnesota game??
ZachTheZip replied to Albert's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Best damn game of the year and I can't watch it! The BTN does too good of a job keeping people from streaming their network. Gophers won't continue to shoot below 30% for the whole game. We need to be ready to weather a run. We also need to crash the boards better. Maybe Bardo can go into their locker room and sneeze on a few of the players. -
Today marks the beginning of the one month signing period for JUCO mid-year transfers.

Looks like Akron's going on a full tour of Cali next season. Aside from returning to Santa Barbara, the Zips will be playing in Cal State Northridge's tournament against both the Matadors and the Cal State Fullerton Titans. LosAngelesZipFan will have plenty of opportunities to see the Zips in 2011.

New offer: OT Willie Beavers

Coach I needs to take full advantage of the coaching instability around the country. Two Zips targets, DE Deonte Gibson and DE Chase Hounshell, have opened up their recruiting according to the PD.

Welcome to life as a champion. 90% of the Zips soccer fans today were not Zips soccer fans even a week ago. Embrace the bandwagon, don't be one of those people who gets mad when other people start liking what you like. Like those people who only listen to music that they're sure nobody else has heard of in order to feel superior, only to abandon it as soon as it goes mainstream. More Zips fans is a good thing, even if not everyone knows the name of the soccer stadium or can't list three current players' names. Let these fans in, educate them patiently, and we'll create a large, strong fanbase.

ESPN has Andrew Bohan as a 3* recruit. Rivals has Kyle Pohl and Nick Rossi as 3*s. Scout has Rossi as a 3* as well. If you look at all our recruits across all the services, they are all wildly different on who our top recruits are supposed to be. Really, once you get past the 5-star blue chip recruits, there's not much difference between a 4 and a 3 or a 3 and a 2. I think a 2 means they're unevaluated bby the service, so they might end up being all-MAC or even pro prospects whose film just never got looked at by the evaluators due to time constraints or whatever. I also believe that high school coaches can use their connections to inflate their own players' ratings.

Is this, your source of information? Will you ever let anyone on this forum consider a source for your information? Interesting thread. There's a Root4Roo sighting to be had over there! Laying the smack down on someone who thought St. Ed's could have beaten "Akron U" this year. Yappi is basically what JJHuddle used to be before they started charging a subscription.

http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/111855069.html Crowbar/shovel fights in the snow. This is Akron. Half-eaten chicken wings. This is Akron. Threatening your brother with a gun over both of those things.... This. Is. Akron. I love how adaptable our new slogan is.

I'd give my left nut to beat any Big East basketball program, under any circumstances. Also noticed that Hunter Yurachek's new school beat LSU last night? Nice win for the Chanticliers. You'd give your left nut to be a Testicle Tech (79-77 over DePaul) fan? Kind of ironic.

Sure he's a terrible role model. He knows that. So are a lot of people in the with wealth and fame. But it doesn't mean they can't be recognized for doing good things for the sake of doing good, or for the love of the place they grew up. But here, it's comspiracy theories that somehow it's all a publicity stunt and he gets villified. If it was a publicity stunt, he would have showed up in person, dragging his national media followers with him, to present all those things in person. he would have pulled strings to get it mentioned on ESPN and CNN and whatever else. But he didn't. Nobody but the people of Akron knows that he did these things.

Is this, your source of information? Will you ever let anyone on this forum consider a source for your information? That is one of my sources. Nobody asked me for it, so I didn't post it. It's no secret that Green local is in dire straights and there is animosity towards paying a football coach, or that one of our recruits was a star player under him. If you want a source for anything I say, all you have to do is ask. The reason I post rumors (and I always try to mark them as such) is because I like discussion, and this is a discussion board. So why not discuss the pros and cons of such a move, or alternative moves? Maybe somebody hits on a great idea that the athletic department can then steal. Or, we can just sit here and endlessly complain about LeBron and OSU and wait for an official announcement that won't come until six months after the fact.

So you haven't met any of the people he bought Thanksgiving for, or any of the kids he donated bikes to, or any of the APS faculty or students who he gave new computers to, or any Zips basketball player who he gears up? That's fine. I've met some of all of those people, and they all appreciate what he still does for the city. The hate is strong in this city, but it is temporary. We're still in the break-up stage. But like any difficult relationship, those feelings cool off. And when one side stays devoted even after making a mistake, they eventually get back together.

Unfortunately, the winner of the Hermann Trophy isn't usually announced until the second week of January. Could be the reason we're not having a recognition ceremony for the team until around then. Wouldn't it be nice to recognize that accomplishment as well, assuming Nagbe wins?

2011 MLS Draft Projection
ZachTheZip replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
They updated the draft projections. Interestingly, they have Nagbe returning next season. -
Rivals has him clocked at a 4.4 40 ESPN describes him as "While undersized, Williams is a quick-footed running back prospect with good scat-back qualities. He is slight in stature but an extremely quick and fast-twitched athlete. Does not give defenders a clean shot or take many direct hits. Displays sharp footwork and good body control cutting back through the small creases"

Cornellius "Tank" Carradine?
ZachTheZip replied to ksu sucks's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Man. Remember when we thought we had a shot at this guy? 5* Defensive End, chose the JUCo route over becoming a Prop 48 at Akron. -
I've always associated "Akron U" with the same connotation as "Hilltop High". When people call it that, it tells the they don't take the university seriously and view it as just the local community college. It's too casual, and brings up images of a place where all the local high schoolers go after they graduate just to hang out and delay getting a job. It makes us sound like Can't.

Well, Ianallo does like to take players away from their best position and put them somewhere else. Sorry, it was just too tempting! Seriously, though, nice get on that Cincy kid. Small, but beating out UC and at least 3 MAC schools is solid recruiting. I remember in a JD signing day press conference, some media dolt asked, "Why do you recruit so many RB's and QB's and then tell us they are going to play another position when they come to Akron." JD's response was "in high school, most of the time, you will find your best athletes on the team play RB & QB." D'Orazio was a one-man team. He was the starting QB, Safety, Kicker, Punter, and Return man in high school.

I don't think they do. I always hoped they would podcast the shows, along with Zips Live, but they don't.

I really wish ScoutingOhio.com would come back online.

Says who? And Dave from Michigan sounded better too!! It's never been AU and just because morons call it that doesn't make it right. Show some school pride and respect and call my university by it's proper name. Haven't you seen the sides of the univserity maps around campus? They say " University of Akron: Gold Standard AU" Refering to the Periodic symbol for Gold which is AU. So the university itself is willing to switch it from UA to AU just to achieve the validity of calling themselves the "Gold Standard" :NCAAC: :NCAAC: They do, but I always considered that a stretch.

I agree. I was stuck in traffic for the majority of the show and tuned in. Great job.
