  1. What looming issues are you speaking of?They've raised well over 22 million of the 25.6 million they'd like to have by 2010 when the financing goes into effect. The economy is in the toilet right now and it stands to reason that sales would lag.The sold out skyboxes alone will bring in an additonal monies over the next five yearsDespite the bad economy UofA has more then enough availble funds and funding in place to do the entire project Stadium and dorms.
  2. I'm sorry. But, that not a true statement. As with the Rubber Bowl the Info will be available for use for HS games so long as UofA isn't playing a home game. Please feel free to email the AD office and they'll confirm that very information.Easy there cowboy. Just making a sarcastic remark about the idioticy of the MAC's scheduling structure and the fact that it may interfere with potential revenue generating endeavors such as renting out the stadium for big weeknight high school games. Sorry if I touched a cord.Sorry I didn't see the sarcasm. The cord is in the ABJ troll sites threads had a couple posters claiming APS HS will not be allowed to play at the Info for fear of violence they'll bring to UofA campus. You can't hardly get 1000 people to attend a APS HS football these days and it's sad seeing someone post crap like that.

  4. I'll agree with you on that note.I also believe both conferences are not what they were just five years ago.I felt the MAC had made huge strides in getting away from being a whipping boys conference.I still feel the MAC is light years better then the SBC But, the gap between the MAC and C-USA has widen instead of closing.
  5. That joke of team in Columbus is lifetime 24-1 Vs the MAC and lone loss was to Akron in 1894.
  6. 09-02-2005 Indiana 20 Central Michigan 13 @ Mount Pleasant, MI 09-09-2006 Indiana 24 Ball St 23 @ Muncie, IN 08-31-2006 Northwestern 21 Miami OH 3 @ Oxford, OH 09-06-2008 Minnesota 42 Bowling Green 17 @ Bowling Green, OH08-30-2001 Toledo 38 Minnesota 7 @ Toledo, OH09-01-2007 Purdue 52 Toledo 24 @ Toledo, OH11-08-2008 Western Michigan 23 Illinois 17 @ Detroit, MII find no data to support that claim. The few victories the MAC has Vs the lower half Big 10+1 teams most have come at the Big 10+1 stadiums. You have Toledo winning at Home and Western Michigan winning a Neutral Site. These are all games played in the last 10 years. I found 1 MAC win at home if you go back over the previous 10 years Vs the Bottom 5 of the Big 10+1The MAC is better then it has been. But, it still not good enough to make that claim of competing Vs the lower half of Big 10+1.Outside of couple of upsets and Indiana lousy team of last year. The MAC has not fared well Vs the bottom half of Big 10+1 home or away.
  7. two seasons ago...and they lost multiple times to the MAC last year. They are the joke of the big ten.Don't forget Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern. The Big Ten sucks. Any of the teams from the bottom half of their conference could play in the MAC and wouldn't even win it most years(and that's with the Big Ten recruits they get now..give them a few years of MAC recruits...). Yet, if they win six games, you'd better believe they will have a nice bowl game. The BC$ sucks. You have to be kidding me. If you honestly believe either Purdue, Illinois and Northwestern wouldn't win the MAC 9 out of 10 years you must have a screw loose. Just look at the MAC's combined record against these teams. You're right and I don't know why someone would say the lower half of the Big 10+1 sucks compared to the MAC. I'll admit Purdue and Indiana haven't fared well as late in a couple of MAC games. But, lifetime is whole another story.Purdue 36-7-1 Indiana 36-6-1Illinois 11-4Northwestern 13-9-1Minnesota 26-3-1That statement about the lower half of Big 10+1 is not even close to being true. The lower half of Big 10+1 is a combined 122-29-3 Vs the MAC. If, that record indicates sucks. I'd hate to see what record from good old fashion butt kicking looked like.
  8. There are instances and it usually involves a Nebraska or LSU greedy to get another home game. Nebraska bailed out on UCF, Southern Miss (Nebraska did go to Hattieburgs, MS a few years later) and Houston. LSU bailed out on Fresno St.Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota type schools have been coming to MAC campuses to play and I haven't seen any of them bail out.
  9. two seasons ago...and they lost multiple times to the MAC last year. They are the joke of the big ten.Two seasons ago.Try last seasonL 09-20-2008 20 Ball St. (IN) 42 Bloomington, INL 11-01-2008 34 Central Michigan 37 Bloomington, IN
  10. You have a confused fan posting a confused comment on a fan board.IU will come to Akron Sept 19, 2009 to open the Info.
  11. My nephew who coaches at Hoban said they'd be playing at Hoban this year as UofA wanted their game with Indiana to be the first game played at Info. But, to answer your question Yes UofA is allowing HS games to be played at Info.
  12. Most likely this is what they will be wearing:This guy can get to work.CLOSED: Manny's Pub 451 E. Exchange St., Akron, OH, 44304 (330) 375-5060 - Venue Website THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED
  13. yes... this was something I noticed a while ago and have been pondering. I can't understand them spending $65million on this stadium only to use aluminum stands. If you want an idea of how the structure will end up, look at the underneath of of UCF's Brighthouse Stadium. It's the same construction technology they are using for our upper decks. UCF Brighthouse StadiumWas just there in November; big, but pretty bland (sorry to my son who's in the marching band there) with just a sea of aluminum; no flags or anything to spruce it up. Even the concessions below were just monochrome cinderblock buildings. The fans enjoyed stomping on the bleachers to make noise and completing the announcer's phrases ("Good enough for another UCF..." "FIRST DOWN"). With all the lightning they get in FL, I had to wonder what would happen there in a storm.I like that we have brick and glass on the press box and the blue painted beams to add some charachter. I also hope we get the conference flags and such that were shown in the renderings. From everything I've seen to date I'm more then happy with what UofA is building. No offense to anyone here. But, could we stop with the HS stadium comments. I haven't seen a HS stadium yet with club seating, skyboxes and a seven story press tower that runs the length of the field. PS: Lighting strikes the highest point no matter what it is and when lighting strikes, it makes no difference if you're sitting on wood, conrete or steel. You should take cover in severe storms.
  14. yes... this was something I noticed a while ago and have been pondering. I can't understand them spending $65million on this stadium only to use aluminum stands. If you want an idea of how the structure will end up, look at the underneath of of UCF's Brighthouse Stadium. It's the same construction technology they are using for our upper decks. UCF Brighthouse StadiumI was just about to post something similar from other recent stadium projects. This is common construction used in many stadium projects across the country and everyone concerned here needs to wait and see the finished product before assuming while it's being built. This not cheap construction and having seen a couple similar Hunt Stadium projects. UofA fans will be pleased with the finished product. That type of upper deck contruction technology makes it easier to add in future and is better long term maintenance then doing total concrete upper deck which many colleges are moving away from due to rising maintenance cost on maintaining their stadiums.Look at how the Rubber Bowl is crumbling and buckling and has been doing so for the last 30 years is one reason why steel technology is used in stadium expanison projects across the country vs all conrete structures.
  15. Great pics. It funny in the third picture one of the old student parking lot sign still stands.
  16. I believe he's reaching out to our local UofA people who have posted pictures in the past. You can tell from the cams that the windows are going in on the Lee Jackson field side. But, it would be nice to see still shot from someone in the Akron area of what it looks like. The cams are great. But, the stills always show how much progress has really been made for naysayers who think the project is way behind and it's not per UofA beat writer with the ABJ. They're still on target and not behind their projected completion schedule.
  17. I got even better newsHe must be gone from his locations by March 1.
  18. For those of you not aware. Manny Nemer had buyer's remorse and wanted change the eminent domain deal of his agreement from 15 years to the lifetime deal that Jackson got for the Odd Corner. He threaten to go back to court and back out all together. UofA filed motions to enforce the original deal and per the court records it been enforced. 02/13/2009 Judgment Entry of Settlement in the amount of $1,800,000.00. 02/13/2009 Hearing held on Motion to Enforce Settlement. Exhibits (Plaintiffs' Nos. 1 and 2 and Defendants' No. A) introduced and admitted into evidence. Terms of Settlement Agreement reached between the parties. Cost of Record of Hearing. (Tape No. 1090 from 0463 to 3915.) I can't wait until March 15th when UofA takes possession of Manny's and look forward to the wrecker bringing them down ASAP.
  19. All I'm hearing is the stadium part is on track.
  20. You have a great vision or one heck of computer to able to tell that detail from these cams. A week ago we couldn't tell if those were bleachers or beams on the pressbox side until they started putting in the upper deck.Being able to tell they lowered a jacuzzi / hot top/ whirlpool is nothing short of impressive.
  21. Looks like the 5th level of the press tower is getting windows installed as well. They're also picking up the pace on the endzone facility today.
  22. They've worked Saturdays on and off going back to spring of last year. If, they were to run into trouble. I expect to see them working Saturdays again. I didn't see any work being done on what was good weather Saturday yesterday. That tells me the timeline is fine for now.
  23. I'm fully confident as well. I just look at site last year when the cams came on line and how much was done six months later. I fully expect even better progress this year over the next siz monthsThey'll have the gameday operations done in time. There maybe other tweaks they'll stil be doing come Sept 19. But, I'm confident at the pace they're, it will be ready come Sept 19th. That's seven months from now and more then enough time to have gameday operations done.
  24. I didn't realize they had the financing for that project. Good to see it's happening! That was in place last year when they started the stadium. The hold-up on the dorm project has been the greedy Nemers and the Morrison Kid house.
  25. I think they add the standing room in the grassy area behind the endzone. I could be wrong though.edit: yep. Per http://www.uakron.edu/stadium/quickfacts.php:"30,000 (This includes all seats in stadium, as well as projected standing room only in the endzone berm and concourse areas."The Stadium, skyboxes and club seating is 25,000.The extra 5,000 is the grassy area in the endzone.
