Ha. Sometimes I deserve it. Indeed, it will be really interesting to see how this pans out. Would anyone be against having the west and east stands equal in capacity?I would.I think the eastside upper deck is larger then the westside upper deck due to the pressbox. It's not a depth preception on the camera. It's looking at the supports on the pressbox side vs the east side. Look at the shot below. You'll notice there more supports on the east side Vs where the upperdeck will hit the pressbox. I believe it was by design to have the eastside upper deck larger.Actually, as I look at the photo you provided (thanx) it appears to me that there is nearly the same distance from the bowl to the back of the stands (or the pressbox on the otherside). Yes, there are fewer supports on the west side, but that could be due to the pressbox structure anchoring the load at the back of the stands.[edit-add]I was wrong... you were right (those who were saying the west side looks to be smaller).I just pulled up some plans.EASTBowl: 21 rows / 4065 seatsStands: 38 rows / 8699 seatsWESTBowl: 21 rows / 4065 seatsStands: 29 rows / 6518 eastsThanks for confirmation.

I realize the 81-0 score was an exaggeration. I see now that Clark is getting an extra year of eligibility. That will make it tough.Actually I remember PSU beating someone 81-0. I thought it was us. I remember Nebraska kicked our butts pretty bad in the 90's too.Getting old and trying to forget really ruin my recollection of history. Nebraska beat Akron 59-14 in 1997Penn St beat Cincy 81-0 in 1991.

They're started work on the supports for upper deck on the pressbox side

Pitt fans are full of They're always posting crap about Penn St.The rivarly will not be renewed until Pitt is willing to share revenues for Penn St coming to Pitt and having over 30,000 fans at Heinz Field.Pitt doesn't draw jack and never has. But, they expect to pay Penn St bare mininum for PSU having half the fans in soldout home game. That's why Penn St doesn't renew the rivarly. Not because they're ducking a team they've beaten 50-42 lifetime and 7 out of the last 8 games they've played.

wait, are you talking about that stuff laying down on the lower west bowl? I'm not sure those are seats.Just what do you think they are? They already were installing the supports for seats and why would they lay anything else in that area?I'm betting those are the first of the lower level bleachers. It just looks to me like they have layed beams down there. Some of them are too long and others are too short to actually seem as thought they belong down there.I saw a recruiting picture and they were at the stadium a couple of weeks ago on gozips.com.The supports the bleachers will sit on were already installed. I just can't see them laying beams or anything else down there given those supports had been installed. But, the bleachers themselves.I could be wrong. But, leave beams on the field. Why put them in the lower section and risk damage to remove them?Theyre not going to install the bleachers now. Maybe once the upper section is completed..As for laying the beams on them... I am not convinced the beams are laying on the actual bleacher supports. Remember, those L brackets are only about 6" long whereas each seating level is about 28" (front to back). If I was in the area, I'd go walk by and see for myself, but I am willing to bet the beams are only laying on the concrete floor and NOT those supports. Also, putting the beams there is somewhat advantageous not only because there isn't a lot of room on the stadium floor to store them, but also because it puts the beams in an easy and convenient place for the crane to pick them up.I said I could be wrong when I edited my post.I've looked at the field and I see what looks like the veritical beams for the upper deck.I'm now believing you're correct and these are beams and the upper deck on the pressbox my start going up very soon.

I think the guy that recorded that video has been in the Sun since 1987!?! Love the fake voice on the guy behind the camera. They sounded like characters from the movie Fargo.

I just want to be clear looking at this photo. Is the only properties left now Manny's and the Morrison House?
-
One of the best things I've seen in the area since Odd Corner came down. Can't wait to see Manny's go.
-
I saw a story in the ABJ with him in front of a lot with a house on it. Believe it was just behind the plasma place. He purchased a couple houses at the corner of Wheeler and Brown. He in the process of renovating them and said in the article he be ready to re-open by mid-summer.
-
You got that right. Manny had already purchased the new locations where he's moving in February of last year per Summit county records. He dragged this out claiming he didn't want to move, knowing he already brought new buildings and was grandstanding for more money IMO.Manny waits right until the jury is about to be seated and takes the same deal he could have gotten a year ago. The only people who made monies were his attorneys and associated costs. Manny coming out of this with the same amount when you add up his final take from both agreements. Then a couple of weeks after the agreement. He changes his mind on 15 year eminent domain part and now wants the lifetime eminent domain deal they gave Jackson when they brought odd corner and Jackson moved across the street.UofA has filed motions to enforce the original agreement and here's hoping Judge Spicer tells Manny he's stuck with that deal. He suppose to vacate by March 15th per the settlement.
-
It was rubble when I used to go there in the 80's. Great news about the Sun grill! I think someone else had already posted something explaining the whole street closing though. What's the status on the Chopstix restaurant and Aroma coffee? Are those staying or no?No, they settled out of court IIRC. Probably just have to wait for them to move out and then officially take possession. They're gone by mid-March.But, Manny is fighting to redo the deal. He wants a lifetime no eminent domain deal at his new location across from the Brown St Fields, instead of the 15 years he originally agreed to.They've been filing motions in court.I seriously doubt that holds it up too long since they already had an agreement in place That Judge Spicer had approved.Manny just going through buyer's remorse on the eminent domain part of the deal. Manny needs the monies for the new place he already purchased and is already fixing up.He'll cave as UofA is filing motions to enforce the agreement which more then likely means the agreement was binding.

I wish I could drove the wrecker. Or would be nice if someone could have taken posted pictures.Goodbye and good riddance. I hear the last holdout tennant is finally being evicted from the warehouse. (Per Summit county probate records)Didn't know why he wasted money fighting an eviction when his landlord sold the property and gave him proper notice to vacate. I can't wait until Manny's are history.Although Manny is now trying to alter his deal to get the same deal Jackson got. Lifetime no eminent domain instead of just 15 years. (Per Summit county probate records and friend I have at the ABJ who's been talking to Manny Attorney)I guess he thinks he going to live forever or he's looking out for other family members to take his business.

Drawing 41,399 fans also points to soild future as well. It drew over 60,000 plus last year for Purdue and Central Michigan. I would say the MCB future looks very bright indeed. They'll get sponsors even in this bad economy as long they they field an entertaining game draw like they have as of late.Who do you think will be sponsoring the game next year? I'll bet it isn't any of the "big" three or the carpenters union which replaced Chrysler this year. I vote for Extenz, Trojan condoms, and KY lubricant for a bigger, safer Bowl next year. There other sponsors out there even in this bad economy. The Bowl draws well and that alone will attract more sponsors. I also wouldn't count out the carpenters union despite the housing slump.

I thought it looked about right where it was before they started the back section they started adding today. I looked at the renderings prior to them adding the back section and thought that was the size of the upper deck.
-
The upper deck on the East side is going to be huge. They're going much higher then I thought. I hope they get a lot of work in today with the winter storm moving in it's doubtful they get much done tomorrow.
-
please... no... no strike That sounds odd. My brother who works for one of Akron construction firms said the firms UofA was using were mostly non-union.

They're working. A big Semi has pulled into the field area in front of the endzone facility in Cam 2.

Ask and ye shall receive...I love it.

How would you like it; burnt or extra crispy?I could throw something together... not gonna guarantee it'd be a mona lisa or anything...Just do it.

We need one of our resident photo shop experts to take the aerial shot of UofA Stadium and show Manny businesses being blown up.
