  1. Opposite year. Zips in bowl game, Cowboys in playoffs. Lucky guy.
  2. I would venture to guess hundreds of coaches have been dismissed from the job with talented players on their team. Like I wrote in the beginning of this thread: "The intention of this thread is to follow this years players in the MAC that may have the chance to play in the NFL. The thread will also inform ZN members of the top talent to watch as the season progresses. I was wondering if there are other ZN members that enjoy following and would enjoy posting updates throughout the season." I thought maybe fans of the MAC might like to know of Taylor's success since we play Buffalo November 11th.
  3. 21,997 avg. for the last three of those four years.
  4. Buffalo running back Anthone Taylor is third in the nation right now in rushing with 926 yards and 9 tds. PS He's from Ohio.
  5. I didn't watch the game last night, but looking at the box score, I see Voytik had more rushing attempts than passing attempts. That's a better job by the offensive coordinator from my evaluation of that team. Get Boyd the ball and limit Conner on obvious running downs. I'm assuming they didn't go run, run, pass (vanilla game plan) like they did against the Zips. Edit: I had to look up Pitt OC because I just read a small blurb about his brilliant play calling last night. Joe Rudolph. "Rudolph spent three years at Ohio State (2004-06) serving as an offensive graduate assistant" I'll bet a nickel the game plan against Akron next year is dramatically different than this year. If I could buy a ticket to that game now, I would.
  6. Article written Dec 2012. Games following the orange bowl in 2013 were: 23,595 (sellout) - 23,595 (sellout) - 20,185 - 18,290 and 17,679. (Capacity: 23,595) They had 20,000 last week against Central. That's 3,595 short of a sellout. Skyrocket? I'm not sure how you define that. If you replace the word "skyrocket" with "increase", I would answer, yes.
  7. George Thomas ‏@GeorgeThomasABJ 1h1 hour ago Kyle Pohl will not play for @ZipsFB against Ohio Bobcats. Tommy Woodson will get his first start.
  8. Unless they move Rock on the Range to Infocision.
  9. I would guess that is far off. Real lot niners™ don't drink swill.
  10. This is at halftime Saturday, so I'm sure some students left their seats for a restroom break, but here are some attendees.
  11. Selling his Miami home.
  12. Yep. I hope KP16 is fine. For the sake of game planning, I hope they don't "announce" until as late as possible. Like Bill Beli-cheat, I mean chick. Nobody works the system as good as he does...wink wink.
  13. George Thomas ‏@GeorgeThomasABJ 53 minutes agoKyle Pohl did not practice again for @ZipsFB. Pohl's status will be announced tomorrow.
  14. I filled out my ballot yesterday. Here is issue 12 for reference: As a reminder:
  15. "Nick Hirschman will back up Woodson if needed." --source--
  16. I'm not suggesting a new conference, that's a pipe dream for other Akron fans. I'm just pointing out we are playing the worst teams (other than BG). Replace EMU, Miami and Umass with NIU, Western and Toledo and play on Saturday at 2 pm and I'm perfectly content with our home schedule. Since I'm a fan, I go to most home games and a few big away games each year. I just want to be entertained. I guess if there is a year to play a bunch of cupcakes, this is the year. Next year, we will be a better team, bring on the best! PS November 4th should be a good one...to bad it's on a Tuesday.
  17. For the circumstance, I think he does a nice job. If he were yelling at 20,000 it would be more tolerable. Ever been to a Cavs game? How exciting is this home schedule: Howard, EMU, Miami, BG, Umass??? Those cupcakes are hard to sell. I was excited about the Marshall game. Now with the weather, and the Tuesday night games, it gets even tougher.
  18. For what it's worth: George Thomas ‏@GeorgeThomasABJ 31m31 minutes agoKyle Pohl's status for @ZipsFB vs. #Ohio will be finalized tomorrow.
  19. Then I would answer "yes." Funny, I almost suggested that in the previous post for the "sheep."
  20. If you can tell me who will take their place, I'll answer your question.
  21. I would go with what our strength is in the red zone. Rush the ball. Example: three rushing touchdowns on Saturday. ZERO passing. This is one of the reasons our red zone scoring efficiency was effective Saturday as opposed to the the rest of the season. Pretty simple. When your better than the other team, line it up and pound it down their throat. Once you start doing that, play action passing becomes an effective weapon, and there is no need for multiple reads. This is how you help out an average QB.
  22. Plenty of contributing factors. Entertainment value is high on the list. Things on on the up-swing IMO. If handled properly Sept 12th next year should be near a sell out.
  23. Most of the year I have been writing about the struggles of our offense. PS With TW13's two second half td drives, we are up to a whopping #122 now. 83 percent on Saturday.
  24. We have more people going to the Zips games than at least one professional team. Hockey in Florida? Even I don't attend hockey games when I'm in Florida.
