  1. Nov 4th against BG, per the color of the ticket.
  2. The articles just write themselves...'Brian Hoyer Joins Little Brother on Campus.'
  3. Little Ten numbers to ponder. The "Big" Ten has lost 14 games already. It's 13-13 against FBS teams in nonconference play. (It's 1-10 against the other power conference teams - the SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 and Notre Dame. The only win is Rutgers' victory at Washington State in week one.
  4. I was pretty excited to watch college football Saturday, so I turned on ESPN College Gameday. Holy smokes, is that thing unwatchable with the girl cheerleaders constantly screaming in the background. They are louder than Herbstreit most of the time. It's so annoying I had to turn it off. Message to ESPN, mic down the annoying cheerleaders. I made it long enough to see this piece on Marshall QB Rakeem Cato, it is worth watching in my opinion. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:11517268 Early forecast is calling for 78 degrees Saturday. Possible late day shower.
  5. What George thinks about Mac vs "big" Ten.
  6. Bowling Green continues Little Ten's woes by beating Indiana. Good gravy Ken+ is tur-able. Obviously they have not heard of the rule that the RB is eligible to catch forward passes out of the backfield as well as run the ball. If they get that rule down, they can improve to being just BAD. AJ needs to implement this into his game plan if Ken+ continue to ignore this major hole in their defense.
  7. Where should you recruit a starting FBS QB? Pennsylvania only has one. OHIO (6) Akron: Kyle Pohl. Germantown/Valley View. Clemson: Cole Stoudt. Dublin/Coffman. Can't State: Colin Reardon. Poland/Poland Seminary. Miami (Ohio): Andrew Hendrix. Cincinnati/Moeller. Michigan State: Connor Cook. Cuyahoga Falls/Walsh Jesuit. Missouri: Maty Mauk. Kenton/Kenton. FLORIDA (14) Florida: Jeff Driskel. Oviedo/Hagerty. Florida International: Alex McGough. Tampa/Gaither. Houston: John O'Korn. Fort Lauderdale/St. Thomas Aquinas. Iowa: Jake Rudock. Fort Lauderdale/St. Thomas Aquinas. Iowa State: Sam Richardson. Winter Park/Winter Park. Marshall: Rakeem Cato. Miami/Central. Memphis: Paxton Lynch. Deltona/Trinity Christian. North Carolina State: Jacoby Brissett. Palm Beach Gardens/Dwyer. Northwestern: Trevor Siemian. Orlando/Olympia. Toledo: Phillip Ely*. Tampa/Plant. USF: Mike White. Fort Lauderdale/University School. Wake Forest: John Wolford. Jacksonville/Bishop Kenny. Western Kentucky: Brandon Doughty. Coconut Creek/North Broward Prep. West Virginia: Clint Trickett. Tallahassee/North Florida Christian.
  8. I was never an Egner fan, I saw to much "I" in his game.
  9. I have a friend with Steeler season tickets. Every year I listen to him complain about how the Pitt Panthers tear up the field for the first half of the season.. Then the WPIAL high school playoffs are played on the field for a weekend. They end up re-soding the middle of the field after that. Heinz is one of the worst grass fields in the NFL. Still, they continue to win championships. Apples and oranges, but maybe that will make futbol fans feel a little better. PS The field has gotten slightly better over time. I think the pros outweigh the cons having the Browns on campus. But I understand the futbol concerns, the field will not be the same.
  10. PSU beats Akron, and the bowl ban gets lifted. Coincidence? edit: AND all their scholarships back.
  11. Yes to all, except WVU, I still have terrible memories from that trip. I almost put it out of my mind...
  12. I found a link on the board to the Rhode Island game, if anybody would like to watch.
  13. Freshest college uniforms from week 2. Guess how many were all white?
  14. 2 pm kickoff. ESPN3 coverage.
  15. Give me three teams on the schedule every year ranked 31, 34, and 41. Perfect!
  16. One week, one injury. Predictable.
  17. Per gozips.com, game time will be announced Monday.
  18. Does it make you feel better about your team losing by coming on a Zips website and demeaning one of our players? It's hard to evaluate from your tv set, but what I saw, he looked good. My question to fans that were at the game, was Tommy rotating, or did he get hurt? I noticed he wasn't in there for a series when the line gave up a sack from his side in the second quarter. During the first quarter I was ready to write big props to Pohl for improving the passes in the middle of the field where he has to lead receivers. As the game went on, he started struggling again with this issue missing some big plays. Other than this, a pretty big thing, he played really well. Like others I wonder why we didn't take our shots down field, I would be interested to hear AJ speak on this subject. I thought the defense played great, they made Hack look pedestrian at times, although PSU's play calling was odd to say the least. The posting in this thread saves me a lot of typing because my take on the game is like most posters. We need to tweak a few things, but I think they are obtainable, and I think we can compete for a Mac title, that's what most of us wanted to do this year, right? Two weeks to prepare for Marshall...I want a "w" bad. Our biggest issue is the fact we went 1-of-3 in the redzone and 5-of-17 on third down. Fix that.
  19. I'll save my comments for tomorrow morning. I hate losing, and everything I start to write reads like an excuse. I agree with a lot what has been posted.
  20. Nice video, well done. Looks dry for the game. PSU hopes to run the ball against the Zips. Does that play right into our hands? Game is on local channel 5 WEWS Tommy Brown starting. Looks good so far.
  21. Is this a requirement for the position?
  22. Could be worse, the BJ used to have a Zips writer with a tattoo of a Youngstown penguin (not a joke). Unless you have one of those?
  23. EA of the PD writes that the Zips are ready for PSU at noon. "We need to run better,'' he said with an eye toward Saturday's noon game at Penn State (1-0) on ABC. "Plays have got to run for five (yards), not just for two. We need to pop a few more." Bowden noted that really good spread offenses might consider "balance" an 80-20 mix of pass and run. But the difference, Bowden said, is when those teams run, they are gaining 7.0 yards or more per carry. Until the Zips can start doing that, "I'm not going to beat my head into the ground (running the football)." According to an Akron writer the Akron Zips are not the number one news story of the Akron paper, the Browns are. So tune in for another exciting story on who the new QB will be. Rinse, and repeat for the last two decades. At the very least the writer that was in love with Mount Union football has left, so you don't have to read those stories anymore. BTW, the Chisholm story was well written.
  24. Can't believe I'm the first to post this? Zippy vs Brutus Buckhole Zippy will face Brutus the week of Oct. 27. I'm a BIG FAN of the writer for this site (see schedule oct 27). Kudos! PS Is this marketed better than most games?? My favorite Brutus moment Second favorite
  25. Your realize he has attended many Akron football games right? Somewhere on this site, I have a photo of him at the Info on the sidelines throwing a football around. So you mean more games? If you were LBJ, would you wanted to be spotted on the sidelines with i"coach"? I would agree he needs to be brought into the Bowden fold in some capacity. He has to want that though. OSU-Va Tech is a fun big game. When Akron has a big fun game (mac championship, bowl, big opponent), I would guess he would want to be there.
