Of course golfers like scrambles, who do you think invented them? Golfers love all kinds games to compete, that's why they exist. I'm happy to donate, but don't take away the game I love on a day I'm donating my time and my money. Once I give whatever money your asking, I'm ready to play golf. I guess I'm what you call a "purist"....I would just call it golf. The way you describe it, I would rather donate, not show up, and go play golf with my friends on a day I choose to be out of the office. Simple answer, if you need more money, just charge more up front. Golf is a great game, don't ruin it because you can't be creative enough to figure out how to raise x-amount of dollars.

I remember on a Steeler forum back in 2004 some posters were arguing about Ben being worth the number 10 overall pick. One poster wrote "if he's so good, why can't he even beat out Tommy Maddox."
