MAC football, alive and well, two first rounders this year. Is Dri next? 5. Oakland Raiders: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo 30. San Francisco 49ers: Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois With the ratings, I would guess May draft is here to stay. More time, means more evaluation. That might result in more Mac picks.

The national comments start to role in. Some ZN members guessed the tone.

Who on ZN "wished" for Dr Scarborough? More than a handful? More ZN members were posting that Tressel was "a done deal."

Six other people nailed the poll, congratulations.

What was the bet? Time to pay up.

Glazer says no Johnny Football in the Factory of Sadness. It may surprise you who has the biggest hands of the three supposed top picks. Manziel – 5’11 and ¾, 207 with 9 7/8 handsBridgewater – 6’2 1/8, 214 with 9 ¼ handsBortles – 6’5, 232 with 9 3/8 hands AJ McCarron and Keith Wenning have bigger hands than all three, and will get drafted after them. I still like Wenning in a west coast offense. Incase you were wondering, more than a dozen teams played some form of a "west coast" offense last season. Guess what Kyle Shanahan runs?

Odd soundtrack for a football highlight video. I like what I see though.

Huggins admitted he had chances to be an NBA head coach, noting his best opportunity came with Miami in 1996. It meant more money and he was tempted, but he had a change of heart after speaking with Nick Van Exel, an NBA player at the time and a former guard on the 1992 Cincinnati team he guided to the Final Four."He said, 'You'll never have a chance to develop the relationships you had with us at Cincinnati, you'll never have a chance to have the influence you had with us, and you'll never get a chance to help people like you helped us,'" Huggins shared. "I thought about it and he was right." Pretty cool stuff.

Since "Stay tuned for some big news out of the Akron Football Program!" come from @TerryBowden, wouldn't you think the "big news" would come from the same place?

Probably adding a video replay guy? Local would be Tressel, I think his Colts resume speaks for itself.

Interesting read by Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel. Still, Manziel barely won a Journal Sentinel poll of 17 personnel people with national orientation asking each to name the five best players. A first-place vote was worth five points, a second was worth four and so on. Here were the first-place votes: Manziel, eight; Blake Bortles, four; Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr, two; and Zach Mettenberger, one. Here were the point totals: Manziel, 68; Bortles, 61; Carr, 49; Bridgewater, 41; Jimmy Garappolo, 16; Mettenberger, six; A.J. McCarron and Aaron Murray, five; Tom Savage, three; and Logan Thomas, one."People think these guys are going to be saviors," one scout said. "The Manziels, the Bortles, the Bridgewaters, the Carrs, they're not franchise quarterbacks. They're just starters, at best. "The Andrew Lucks don't come along but once every 10 years." I don't expect the Browns to take a QB with either of their first round picks. I like Wenning in the 5th.

Can we figure out how to get Illinois on the schedule ASAP? While warming up for the Orange and Blue Spring Football Game this year:

Jeff Goodman picks the Mens Toledo basketball team in his Fab 50 for next season. Gone: Rian Pearson, Matt Smith Returning: Julius Brown, Justin Drummond, J.D. Weatherspoon, Nathan Boothe,Jonathan Williams, Jordan Lauf, Zach Garber Coming in: SG Andre Applewhite (Mississippi State transfer), G Stuckey Mosley, F Kurt Hall, PG Kamau Stokes Key Riser: Jonathan Williams -- Look for the freshman guard to slide into the starting lineup and replace Pearson. Williams should become one of the team's leading scorers. Analysis: The Rockets won a school-record 27 games, and Todd Kowalczyk brings back just about everyone except for Pearson. Juice Brown is the star, but he has help from Drummond, Weatherspoon and there's also size up front with Boothe. Summer Buzz: Toledo has four scholarships in the Class of 2015 and will go after a couple of big men, a point guard and the best available player it can get with the final one.

Dambrot Answers Some Questions - Including One on Abreu
Dr Z replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Good to know where KD stands on the (AA) situation. Like a few ZN members suggested during the season, I like to read this: "Our 6-foot-10 kid is 310 pounds," Dambrot said. "We feel if we can get him down to 290 pounds, he'll be a much better player." -
2 star recruit for those that care about that type of thing. Left team for personal matters at one time. Good luck to him, and welcome aboard.

Mel's new top 100 in the draft. 3. Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo: Still wouldn't shock me if he went No. 1. His athleticism and versatility limit questions about his competition level. 50. Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois: I'm not sure there's a better cover safety in the draft in terms of instincts and breaking quickly on the ball path. 59. Dri Archer, RB, Can't State: The fastest player in the draft, the pint-sized Archer will get Darren Sproles comps, as he'll be used all over.

Doctor, Doctor, aaaaaaand did we miss anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra5iXI_WCu0 What sound or noise do you love? What sound or noise do you hate? What is your favorite curse word? What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? What profession would you not like to do? If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates? Your students....

Here are some low resolution images from the day. The day was well done by the U. The biggest thing I got from the day, the tailgating. Best attended tailgating for a spring game I have seen. The anticipation for the season seems to be blossoming.

If they played the Maria Menounos "Noah" sound clip every time he scored, I wouldn't miss a home game. -
