  1. I wish every team that I root for would pull the bubble screen pass out of the playbook and burn it. Defenses have caught up to that play (for the majority). I just love to see that play run for negative four on first down. Give me Hundley off tackle for positive four on first down instead. He may not hit the home run like Chisholm, but I think he moves the chains and keeps the defense fresh in the second half.
  2. I thought the same. The Vice President for Strategic Engagement is a new position for Akron. According to Pat Galbincea of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Tressel's first action is to "raise money for a new basketball arena."
  3. Whack-a-Zip...By George M. Thomas Beacon Journal sports writer I could only watch on tv last week, so you really can't tell whats going on. If BG was truly taking D’Orazio out of the game, do what Belichick used to do to teams that focused on Welker in the slot. Run routs under D’Orazio's rout. The tight end, running back, or other receivers will be open. Use the defenses aggressiveness against them.
  4. I don't know how much credence, I put in this injury list, but Hirschman is not listed this week. He was listed last week.
  5. OU Thread Already Started Here
  6. Depends. They can handle obvious run plays most times. Play calling seems to be their downfall, they bite on a lot. If your QB sits in the pocket on obvious passing downs he will get sacked. Example: six sacks last week in the first half. Teams have learned this, adjusted play calling at half and have success. In one word, they are an enigma.
  7. Can't say I didn't warn you. He was his typical terrible self. My favorites are "let's see what the defense dials up here"..."let's see what the offense dials up here"
  8. Coach is right. The play that sticks out in my mind was BG's running back, all one hundred and eighty pounds of him, dragging Presley for a six yard piggy back ride to the first down stick. We need to be stronger.
  9. For some of the uninformed here, LeBron has been on Akron's sidelines before.
  10. JJ, addressed almost every one of the above comments to the coach after the game. Excellent Q&A from Joe and coach. You will learn something every time you hear coach speak. Tough loss for the excitement that was built in the first half. Too bad we didn't have a quality backup for Kyle when he got dinged in the head.
  11. Hats off to coach Amato, changing up pressure on obvious passing downs. We are controlling the line in that situation!
  12. Great play calling. Night and day. Stretching BG D early...love it!
  13. GREAT JOB !!!
  14. Akron has scored 41 of its 96 total points this season during the fourth quarter. Good news, game is on ESPN3. Bad news, Reghi will be reeling off nonsensical cliché after cliché during the broadcast. BG switching to white helmets tomorrow to try to combat zipper helmets….fat chance!
  15. KD signed a one year extension. Jeff Bozello claims it makes a "ton of sense."
  16. The story was more entertaining than the video.
  17. I agree. That is as clear as mud. I think I can read between the lines though. Great point by coach: But Bickley’s five-catch, 79-yard, two-touchdown performance last Saturday makes Bowden sure of one thing: Things are about to change for the receiver. “He’s also going to be facing more pressure now,” he said. “The next team we play will see how well he did in that game and they’re going to say, ‘OK we have to have a plan and make sure we have [someone] out there to cover him.’ ”
  18. A good point. Indiana put up 600 yards of offense on this "number one" mac defense??? You can watch some highlights here and judge for yourself.
  19. BG is first in the mac in team defense, if we come out and try to run the ball, we will fall behind early AGAIN. Coach has talked about getting a fast start this week. Our offensive game plan will decide this one. If we win, it will be 38-35, and we need the ball last. Balls to the wall AJ! :gun: PS If anyone is a Tool fan and digs this song, Maynard on his last side project CD.
  20. Fire When Ready...By Elton Alexander, The Plain Dealer BG scored 34 or more points in 3 of 4 games, while the Zips scored 24 points vs. UM, 30 vs. LL and 35 in a victory over JMU. BG qb Johnson is the 3rd qb in the MAC, averaging 250.0 y/g. Pohl is 5th at 218.2 y/g. The Zips are 9th in total defense, BG is 1st in the MAC in total defense
  21. THAT WOULD BE DA BOMB.
  22. Get Michigan out of the problematic college polls...
  23. I think they should do this at EVERY Akron sporting event for every game.
  24. We have been lucky this season. For one, the tailgating weather has been awesome. Other than the Michigan noon start, tailgating times have been great. The entertainment value is there. The offense and defense have scoring potential on any play. Game day activities seem to be there also. There is plenty to do with the kids if you bring your family. The stadium is beautiful, and you can enjoy a beer at the game. They did a nice job on the end zone grass, it's fun to check out if you have never sat down there. I'm fairly confident that we are on the verge of winning. I can see the progression. Now if you were to post this about are last coach, you are right, other than making good coin on the games, I probably should have had my head examined. It's all about entertainment for me, and yes, this year has been entertaining...so far. One more positive I will mention, when the last coach was here, I was embarrassed to ask anybody to come and watch the team. Now I'm happy to invite others and know they will see some entertaining football and have a good time. Now if we can get some upsets, I won't have to ask people, they will ask me.
