Congratulations to the 9 people that correctly predicted the attendance (1431). I did not. I predicted between 1500 and 2500. I did have a chance to hand count the Rowdies last night. 13 Rowdies on one side of the hoop. 23 Rowdies on the other side of the hoop. There were a handful in section B that might have been more vocal than either side. Bring it to the Q students, the team needs you!!!!!

Did we play zone against OU? Last night we were not playing DJ Cooper, if we were, zone would not have worked. EMU sucked on offense, they couldn't hit anything outside, why not play zone and try to make them beat you. Play it until it doesn't work. Kudos to coach K. Give your guys a break on defense so they have more energy at the offensive end. I thought EMU's halftime adjustment of not shooting outside and start driving the lane was a good one, that is how I would attack the Zips. Zone was always much more fun to play for me. Coach K made reference in the post game to how successful they were in the zone against Miami the last time they blew them out. You might not want to watch the Miami game if you don't enjoy watching the Zips play zone.

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

2001 was our best chance. We were a missed interception that turned into a TD away from pulling off that upset. I don't think we have as many NFL players on this team as we did on the 2001 team. Give Tressel the Boot --From Columbus campus newspaper Don't Buy Tressel's Explanation Let's be honest: No one but the most scarlet-and-gray blinded diehard could possibly buy the explanation being given by the coach and his employer for an inexplicable lack of judgment that will cost him at least two games and $250,000. It's thinner than the Buckeyes' depth chart for their first five games next season. Bad Stuff Follows Tressel Around? And then there is history, which is easy to bring up in this case. Two years ago the Columbus Dispatch reported that Ohio State had reported 375 NCAA violations from 2000-09, the most of 69 schools surveyed by the newspaper. Tressel was hired in 2001 at Ohio State shortly after the Youngstown State program he oversaw was penalized. The NCAA said his quarterback Ray Isaac was paid in excess of $10,000 by a member of the school's board of trustees. Don't forget the Maurice Clarett fiasco or Troy Smith having to sit out two games after taking $500 from a booster. Either a lot of bad stuff follows Tressel around or there is definitely a pattern here. OSU Doesn't Care About Rules, Just The Golden Goose When presented with the nugget that essentially undermines everything the school says it stands for, Tressel said, "I don't think less of myself at this moment." Why should he? He's bank, and he knows it. And Gee, the man who once disbanded Vanderbilt's athletic department because it wasn't in keeping with what the role of athletics should be at a university, said when asked if he ever thought about firing Tressel, "No, are you kidding me? Let me be very clear. I'm just hoping the coach doesn't dismiss me." And that's the power of the truth when confronted by the truth about power. Ohio State no longer cares that you realize that it's just another amoral jock foundry. Hell, it's a wonder Gee didn't just raise his middle finger at the audience and say, "Here you go. Fire this." Tressel Tarnishes Columbus "The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of one hour." Ohio State coach Jim Tressel included that Japanese proverb on Page 193 of his book, "The Winners Manual For The Game of Life." Eight pages later, there's this nugget from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: "It takes less time to do the right thing than to explain why you did it wrong." In 10 years as the Buckeyes' coach, Tressel has often showed us his teams can't win big games. On Tuesday night, Tressel showed us he can't win the big news conferences, either. -
$100 money line bet on EMU could get you $600.

I thought the same. Although, I also thought, if LBJ was going to hold a one hour special on tv to address his free agency.... -
AKRON is 10-8 against the spread versus E MICHIGAN since 1997 AKRON is 14-5 straight up against E MICHIGAN since 1997 5 of 9 games in this series have gone OVER THE TOTAL since 1997 E MICHIGAN is 1-0 against the spread versus AKRON over the last 3 seasons Eastern has only ONE mac victory on the road this year...Toledo, who only had ONE mac victory total. If we can't beat Eastern at home tonight, we don't deserve to be at the Q.

I would put odds at 1:1 if KD had 4 picks in the top 5 in the NBA draft, he could win a national title. I think KD has even said something like this. "If I had the players coach Porter did...." Not really a fair comparison IMO.

Signs Point to Tressel's Job in Jeopardy? COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has returned to campus and a news conference has been called for Tuesday night, a sign that coach Jim Tressel's job might be in jeopardy after a report that he did not tell his superiors that he was aware of potential NCAA violations involving star quarterback Terrelle Pryor and others. The news conference, set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at the Jack Nicklaus Museum on the Ohio State campus, includes Tressel, Smith and Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee. -
Good point. We won't get blue chippers here, but can KD coach the type of player to get to the sweet 16 like Waters did in '01 with Ken+ with no blue chippers? I want to stand in the ESPN Zone in Times Square and watch my team play in a sweet 16 game instead of watching Ken+ play with every NY fan there rooting for Ken+. I've never been so jealous of a Ken+ team in my life. If KD is the guy to do that great. How long should I wait?.... Is it wrong to want that? So to answer the original post, not satisfied, not complacent. GP1's analogy of Coach Cowher is a good one. I have had the same thoughts even though it's not apples to apples.

Tressel Facing Charges? Yahoo! Sports is reporting Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel was informed that some of his players had sold memorabilia to the owner of a tattoo parlor more than eight months before the school said it was made aware of improper transactions. The website, citing an unidentified source, reports Tressel received information as early as April 2010 that players were selling items to Edward Rife, who owns Fine Line Ink Tattoos in Columbus, Ohio What Is The "Truth" Really? According to a source, a concerned party reached out to Tressel last April, alerting the coach that memorabilia transactions had taken place between Rife and a handful of Buckeyes players, including Pryor. The selling of items violates NCAA eligibility rules. The source said Tressel was troubled by the information, and the coach indicated that he would investigate the matter and take appropriate action.Whether the coach initiated an investigation of the accusation is unclear, but all five players remained on the field in the coming months, playing out the 2010 regular season.Section 5.1 (m) of his contract also states that failure to promptly report “any violations” could lead to “termination by Ohio State for cause.” Ohio State itself could be cited with playing ineligible players and forced to vacate its 2010 season, when it won a share of the Big Ten championship and finished 12-1. It could also face further sanctions for major infractions. Tressel Era to End With a Lie? But the severity of Tressel's infraction rises exponentially if it's found he lied to NCAA investigators. And it wouldn't take much further investigation to figure that out. At some point during those 10 days in December that led to the suspensions of Terrelle Pryor and Co., presumably one of the NCAA's staffers interviewed Tressel. If at any point he or she asked the coach whether he'd heard previous rumblings about the notorious Edward Rife, and if Tressel replied, "No" -- well, that's unethical conduct. The NCAA frowns on it. Ask Dez Bryant or Bruce Pearl. "Buckeye Planet" Concerned?

FRIDAY EVENING NFL OWNERS CONFERENCE CALL: ROGER GOODELL LABOR UPDATE Kraft: You have to be kidding… Roger, it’s 18 games or a lockout. Dan Rooney: Agreed. Don’t listen to these lunatics. Davis: Rooney, show some respect, your father and I once bedded a trailer full of circus freaks in Akron after a two-day coke binge. Your father had some moxie, unlike you, young fellah. You should have seen him, took the bearded lady for the team. Rooney: Oh, God…

Sometimes you can be better.

I would guess about the same.

The marketing for this game is out of site. I'm expecting an email from Zippy any minute now to remind me. GoZips.com is going crazy on it.
-
No I can't imagine JT ignorantly tweeting. I would guess JT will use twitter to market himself.

I agree. For some reason, I turned on the Cavs game on after the Zips last night. Their coach has them defending hard on every trip down the floor. I wish our coach did. This was my thought while watching the Cavs game. The Cavs won the game on a defensive play. Abreu needs to learn footwork on defense. He is simply not fighting hard enough to get in front of his man. As a team I think we get sideways too much. We look tired. I know Alex is young and he will get better, but for now I think he can up his intensity on D and be successful. I said this last season and I seen it again last night, why do we have Zeke defend a man at the top of the key? IMO that is a waste of energy and talent. I like him squared up close to the hoop on D. That's where he makes our team good.

I think you political fans would enjoy watching the documentary 'Inside Job.' It won an Oscar this year. I think it gives a nice overview of what brought about the financial meltdown that put our economy in the situation we are currently in.

I'm only scared of OU. Ken+ does not scare me this year. We match up well with them, not so much with OU.

I thought about making this a separate post, but I suppose I'll bury it here. After the season is over, the basketball team should put together a video of all of the fouls called on Zeke this year. Especially the ones like his third foul last night. Send the DVD to the MAC office, give them a month to watch the DVD. Request a sit down with head referees to go over the fouls. Include Zeke in the meeting. This does two things, helps Mac officials understand Zeke's game and helps Zeke better understand what the officials are going to call. Even if you don't set the meeting up, at least send the DVD to the Mac office to make the officials aware. I know an NFL team that did this after last season with a former Mac player. (Anybody that has access to the staff and wants to pass this idea on, feel free) When Zeke was on the floor last night Akron was the better team, when he came off the floor, Ken+ was the better team. I enjoy watching the Zips when Zeke is on the floor, I want to pull my hair out when I watch and he is not. It's also fun to watch Diggs and AA penetrate. Future is bright for those two when they fine tune their game. PS I thought the women doing commentary was good last night. She did her homework. Beats listening to Reghi's tired old cliches.
