  1. Can you give two examples (actual quotes) where anybody on ZN wrote that?
  2. Anybody living anywhere near campus should do yourself a favor and go to the Akron Art Museum today. I went to see the Impossible Realities yesterday. It's an awesome show. Over 100 pieces of Escher's art. True genius. Show runs through May 29th.
  3. GP1, weren't you on a team in college? I wasn't and had a job. I hardly had time to sleep, how would you go to class, study, practice, lift AND hold any kind of part time job? I remember a football player that was in my program at UA, he ended up changing his major to something that didn't require as much outside of class work because he just didn't have the time to devote. He was talented, he claimed he just didn't have time to do the required outside of class work due to his football schedule. There is a good documentary they are running on ESPN now that covers some of the discussion here, Catch it, if you can. It's done very well.
  4. Congrats to VCU and Shaka D World. Great games late last night. Both were timed where you got to see a great deal of both if you wanted.
  5. I hope the Lone Ranger comes in here and leads us to two bowl game victory's in his time here. With that said, I'm not giving up on PN7 yet, he was a young kid with a LOT of things going against him last year. No excuses this year, it's time he sinks or swims. Getting CM, might just make a healthy competition a positive thing for PN7. I kind of expected a few raving reviews of the Lone Ranger after the first practice, I was a little disappointed not to see that. Doesn't mean anything though. The Zips continue to schedule the spring game the same time as my spring golf trip, and with no tv coverage, I have to depend on the good folks at ZN to give me the low down on what they really see in the Lone Ranger.
  6. Behind the scenes with VCU & Shaka. I see a drill that VCU runs that the Zips need to do.
  7. Keeps Getting Worse for Tressel The Columbus Dispatch reports Friday that Tressel forwarded emails from a Columbus attorney to Ted Sarniak, described as a mentor to Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. The emails stated that Pryor and an Ohio State teammate had been selling memorabilia to a local tattoo parlor owner under federal investigation. Tressel nodded when asked at a March 8 news conference if he had shared the emails with anyone. He didn't elaborate -- athletic director Gene Smith quickly swooped in -- because the NCAA is still investigating the case. Ohio State didn't confirm Tressel's forwarded emails, telling The Dispatch it won't comment until the NCAA investigation is over. The school's compliance director, Doug Archie, acknowledged Pryor's relationship with Sarniak, saying the businessman from Pryor's hometown of Jeannette, Pa., was the quarterback's contact person during recruiting but isn't considered a booster.
  8. Only Youngstown is like Detroit.
  9. From Gaffney's Wednesday article: Dan Marcoux also said he is not upset that the renowned Tressel is not coaching in the game. ''I am not an Ohio guy. I guess it is an Ohio thing,'' said Marcoux, who is from Ramsey, N.J. ''If I don't get a chance to shake his hand, I am not going to lose any sleep over it.''
  10. My research on him will come during this season. He has yet to play a down of Div I football.
  11. Odds for Huckabee to be the Republican nominee for 2012 are 5:1 according to sportsbook.com right now. Here are the rest:
  12. Yes, I saw it. The gist of it was how a mid major can beat a high major. Coach Knight said there were three things, patience, run the clock and spread the floor to make the other team defend more area. Also said something about don't pass the ball down low in the corner near the baseline, he said "you mind as well kick the ball up in the stands"
  13. Did you happen to see #15 Suel the juco wr who red shirted last year out there? He is listed as 6'3".
  14. ''We have a different buzz in the locker room, as opposed to last year,'' senior offensive tackle Jake Anderson said. ''We didn't know what it was going to be like with the new coaches. But this year we are more settled in.'' ''We are excited to get started, to get things under way,'' senior offensive guard Zac Kasparek said. ''To have a great season, you need a great spring to kind of get a jump-start on everything.''The Zips begin the spring drills with a two-deep depth chart. But the names on it could change quickly, Ianello said. ''Every position is up for grabs because every position has to improve,'' he said. ''As I told the team, you determine the depth chart, not the coaches. If someone has played a bunch of football for us, but they don't develop, and someone develops more than they do, we are in the business of putting the best 22 players on the field.'' University of Akron's players (from left) Anthony Holmes, Richard Hall, Ben Karam and Lucas Gagne listen to new defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove during the first spring football practice Wednesday. Cosgrove spent 14 years as an assistant under Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez. (Mike Cardew/Akron Beacon Journal) Read The Rest of the Article Here

  19. This forum would be a great place for you to expand on Tom's five, feel free to add yours....
  20. • Who will emerge as the Zips' first-unit tailback? • Will quarterback Patrick Nicely finish spring practice at No. 1 on the depth chart?Nicely, the incumbent, had trouble adjusting to the new pro-style offense in 2010 and completed just 49.4 percent of his passes. Junior college transfer Clayton Moore, a former University of Mississippi recruit, is a player to watch the next three weeks. • How easily will the Zips put the disastrous 2010 season behind them? • What will new defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove do to improve that unit? • Will the Zips be able to field a full, capable offensive line for scrimmages and the spring game? 21. I agree. It will be interesting to see where he transfers, that will speak volumes. I wish him luck and hope he had a good time at Akron. I thought there was a photo in the pd or bj of him riding around laughing on somebody's back after we won the mac championship. I can't find it though.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. I will try to tune into the broadcast. I tried this once before and got zero information in the first 15 minutes, got frustrated with commercials and the yuk yuk, and turned it off. If anybody listens to this whole thing, and wants to hit the major points like zipboy did with Zips Live, that would be awesome.
  23. Agreed. I'm not saying I like that for my team, but sometimes as a Zips fan, it's fun/refreshing to watch two other teams go up and down the floor.
  24. Good game. Having an effective Zeke will make the Zips better than most. The next two years are going to be fun.
