Warren Ball's injury means he will finish the season with 332 yards rushing. Only nine members have a chance to win selecting Ball under 900 yards. Zips Wins - 3 Warren Ball rushing yards - 332 ? Reception Leaders - Tra’Von 25, Coney 22, Smith 17, Wolf 15 Defensive sacks - 13

Nice interview with Thomas Woodson. Coach Milwee says Thomas is quiet, but commands respect in the huddle. He brings a lot of confidence and knows what I'm thinking without saying it sometimes. Chapman on TW, he's like a brother to me. Thomas says he would like to teach or coach. Stock rising: John Lako's stock is rising. His football IQ is off the chart. Former walk-on. Players of the week: Wolf, George and Sands on special teams.

Twenty-five different Zips recorded tackles Saturday!!? ? I know sophomore lineman Devin Jones, junior linebacker Travonte Junius, & junior defensive back Hugh Cade got in for plays too. That's 28 different defenders? Anybody notice others not listed?

Akron is 4-2 against the spread in its last 6 games on the road.

Attendance: 20,199

Reps might be the short answer. The Zips have a lot of new receivers he is working with. He had surgery in the offseason and just started to throw in June. He didn't get to scrimmage much in the summer. I have heard some people claim there was wind Saturday. Standing on the field, I didn't really feel it though. He's been pretty good at the deep throw throughout his Zips career, I would guess the passing game continues to progress throughout the year. He did not overthrow Wolf on this touchdown.

Multiple times this week, coach Bowden expressed that he wanted more explosive plays. I’m sure Woodson was following a game plan. Hard to argue the results.
-
He'll be 65 next summer, this year should be it. Hope he enjoys retirement.

I've always thought that coaches Amato and Stroud do a good job with halftime adjustments.
-
Not diminishing Trevor, because he did do a good job, but there was a lot of tight end help lined up on Winbush yesterday.

A couple observations from the game - The second week in a row, pulling Kyle was the Zips best run play, see the Sands td run below. - I think it might be time to tighten up our receiver rotation. Woodson needs more reps with less guys. - Again, sick for WB, but the position depth is as the staff described at the beginning of the season. Very capable. - Did anybody notice Anthony Winbush, the nation's sack leader yesterday? Congratulations to the Zips game plan, they did exactly what coach Bowden said they were going to do, and executed it to perfection. BTW, Anthony had zero sacks, and only two tackles. - It stil concerns me that for three quarters of the game, Milas sat comfortably in the pocket. What did the Zips do late in the game to collapse the pocket quicker? - I know Kobie Booker missed a big block right in front of the staff, but overall I saw a lot of good from him yesterday. I hope he continues to progress. - Nice job by Woodson and company, protecting the ball. It's invaluable not turning the ball over in a game. - While we have become acustome to Gilbert making 13 tackles, congrats to Hauser, with 13 as well.

Congratulations to @RowdyZip @feetg10 @zippy5 who picked all three correct! Nice job.

Alumni weekend, looks like Jerome will be in town. Wonder if JB will be there, he plays in NY Sunday.

I think Gilbert got hurt in the Tennessee Tech game, he didn't play against WKU or WMU. Not sure of the accuracy, but he is listed as "downgraded and expected to miss Saturday" here. Vinnie was correct about the wide receiver prospects, coach Bowden mentioned a true freshman leading all freshman in the nation in his presser.

Why do you think the Club seats sold out?

Going fast....? =A is back!

Some love for the secondary as they get two interviews after the game.

I only watched the first quarter of the BSU/WMU game. In one set of downs they went 10 personnel (first down), 02 personnel (second down), and 11 personnel (third down). Defensive communication and substitutions will come into play for the Zips defensive unit. Press Conference Notes: • Kato gives you a wildcat look. • Come out of BG healthy other than WB. • Tommy made his own read on the TD run. • Called our offense blue collar. Need more big plays. Challenged the offensive players to come up with explosive plays. • 12 personnel will continue to be part of the offense. Our TEs look like RBs, not prototypical. We need them to catch more. • Brian Reinke had 7 pressures on the QB last week. We are getting close. • Deon'Tae Moore nursing an injury, and getting better. • Anthony Winbush leads the nation in sacks (7.5) and reminds coach of Dwight Freeney. • Justin Hall top freshman WR in nation. • We think we are getting better at running the ball. We were successful running the ball when BG knew we were going to run. • We worked hard on not holding. We had five holding calls against Troy.

Akron ranks 35th in the country with five interceptions, and 52nd with three fumbles recovered. While the Zips offense is averaging only 336 yards of offense a game, I find it amazing that they are converting 47% (36 of 76) or their 3rd downs. That ranks in the top 20 in the country.

Still going...

Milwee run MTB in the wildcat last year, and Warren Ball this year. Do we have another player on the roster that is capable in short yardage situations? Me too. I'm waiting for Kato to catch a ball this year. He is capable. I wouldn't mind seeing a trick play this week.
