Not sure if anyone else watched it, but this was probably one of the better, if not one of the best, ESPN films I've seen. Its a very well-done documentary on SMU's rise, fall, and resurgence. Definitely a very worthy 2 hour watch.

In other news relative to the OP... Lots of tweets. Definitely nice to at least see this. Latest set of tweets were regarding the training sessions today for all 4 teams. Apparently they sent all 4 teams to the same local private university for training and scheduled them so all 4 teams were practicing one after another. To quote the "Follow the Roo" twitter, apparently "The situation makes for some anxious coaches" because as "...one team is finishing up with penalty kicks, the next team is nearby, ready to take the field". Interesting they'd do this...

since we're playing michigan, and OSU fans hate michigan, they should be rooting for us, no? Sorry... lol I think we're in their heads too much from the last game. We take care of business and knock them out with a 3-1 final, with 2 of our goals coming in the first half. We've been playing in the cold and it's hurt our offensive attack, so the warmer weather should do a lot of good.

I believe your assumption of new ownership may be correct. My knowledge of the place is very limited, but the renovations we heard about a while ago may have been part of the new ownership. Ive been there twice and its not bad. Food was actually decent for a bar and how late I was there.

the amazing thing is that every time I see one of these brackets, it just makes more and more sense to me. But I just had an idea that kinda sounds fun... Make the first 14 games mini-"bowl games". After the national championship contestants are set, give them 2 weeks instead of 1 before the championship game since there's typically 5 weeks between the conference championship games and the national championship game. Then during the week leading up to that championship game, have "Playoff Bowl Week" where all the teams that were knocked out of the playoffs play another eliminated team in one final bowl game. Thats 7 bowl games before the 8th, which would be the National Championship. It somewhat keeps the good ol' bowl system around while giving the fans the playoffs they want. Then again, maybe my idea is totally flawed. But it was an idea.

I will absolutely send some of the money I would have spent to go to the game to fund getting some SB students there as honorary Rowdies. Its the least I can do and its a Win-Win for them!

When news broke that the University wouldn't help in any way get students to the game or subsidize the costs, it was a major deal breaker to me. I could have easily done $200-$300 for this, but to be forced into shelling out twice, if not almost 3x that is almost insane and completely impossible for a student in my position. Instead Ill be watching at Tap House. Here's to hoping the College Cup is a little closer to home next year.

Barley wins in the principle of its size and TV screens. However, Tap House I feel is much more willing to show Akron sports than Barley will. If we're playing as late as I think we are Friday night, Barley will already be starting to pack with the night crowd and I doubt you'll have a great viewing experience. So on that basis, I would go to Tap House. Its damn easy to get to as well - Just head down 77 until you get to the Waterloo exit. Then turn right and you can't miss it on your right.

In case nobody else has noticed, ESPN is doing a 30 for 30 film on the "Death Penalty" handed to SMU called "Pony Excess" and think it could be a good watch. ESPN Films usually do a good job with these things.

You know... Everyone is clamoring over the poor attendance at the game. I understand that and reflect those sentiments. However, this was by far the most energetic crowd I've seen in a while. Now, my opinion is slightly skewed as I was unable to attend the Tulsa game due to being out of town that weekend. Even so, I sensed that this crowd was much more into the game than both of the previous playoff games. I give a lot of credit to the "fans in the stands" for making the environment electric. I can say that from the beginning of this season to that last game, the crowd became much more willing to make some noise. Us AK-ROWDIES can only do so much and rely on the fans elsewhere in the stadium to help make noise.

Without knowing the exact verbiage of the rule, this would presumably be true. However I would hope this couldn't be a legal application of the rule.

Noisemakers and signs arent permitted because its an NCAA tournament. I would expect the rule to apply to all divisions of the NCAA. They are allowed at all other games since they are regular season games.

I believe this to be the most accurate account based on what I have been told. It also follows the proceedings of the first half fairly well, so I would take this as being the truth. Either way, the AR removed himself from the game.

If you look at the Championship website on NCAA.com, an autograph session is listed after semifinal #1. Speaking of autographs, here is latest addition to our Akron Zips nursery. A signed soccer ball from this years team. Jealous!

I really cant decide whether I want long or short sleeve. Both are equally as awesome... the decisions!
