the real question is this: WHY are we having these problems this late in the season? Our passing has been looking poor. Our sets are constantly getting broken up. I hope this is much more of a wake-up call than WMU and Creighton.

another goal CSU. Im turning the feed off. I can't watch.
-
goal CSU with 11:30 to go. We don't look good.
-
it rained like a mother the day before. Im sure even with perfect drainage the field is going to be a bit slick they day after.

Although I agree with UA being the worst, having Texas in there makes this stupid. Yes Texas is 4-3, which is bad for them. But they would still beat half of the top 20. This is just jab at them for having a down year. Im not sure how well versed you are in the "Bottom 10", but the #5 spot is reserved for a big-name team that had a bad loss the previous weekend or two.

I agree... basketball will be a good indicator of how well the system is working. Since the season starts later into the school year, it should give students points already to get "roowarded". Once word starts spreading about how people are getting those things, it should start to take hold. Again, this is only the first 10 weeks of the program. Id give it AT LEAST 2 years before making any decision on whether to ditch it or not, and AT LEAST a year before saying that it's working. Random little factoid about Roowards: the AK-Rowdies presented this idea to the Athletics Dept this summer. Athletics told them "they'd think about it but not right now". 2 weeks later Athletics came out with the Roowards program. YouTubeTom at his finest.

This could be true, but from just watching a bunch of their guys, quite a few had a height advantage over our guys which I am sure played into our inability to produce off cross shots. I hate to be so nitpicky about the game. Had those 3 goals off the posts gone in, this is a completely different game. I feel WMU played a really good game against us, but got extremely lucky our shots didn't go and that helped keep them in the game. I look forward to how the team plays on Wednesday against, on paper, a much better team than WMU.

I honestly feel the worst for the band. Id go to the games just to see their halftime shows, but I don't want to see this thing called "football" that iCoach is attempting to produce.
-
If i'm not mistaken, they got removed for heckling Icoach. Word is that iCoach hates the AK-Rowdies as a whole, so this comes as no surprise.

A win is a win, and we should be happy to have that, but for some reason I feel really upset with this game. I felt like we didn't play as well as we should have. Porter seemed to share these same feelings in his post-game interview. Granted WMU was taller and a little bigger than us, making it hard for cross shots to do anything, but it seemed like every time we tried to set a play a WMU player was there to break it up. As an aside, there were 3 shots during the first half that should have been goals. I dont know what kind of bad voodoo was on that goal (maybe there's fail overflowing onto Lee Jackson from the Info?), but we had 3 shots go off the posts. Very very frustrating. Did anyone get a good look at WMU's goal? I was down there and I swear the foul was before the shot and thought the referee called to goal off, but was incredibly surprised to see it stand. Maybe someone else had a better angle? Either way... its a win and we'll move on to Creighton. I have full faith in coach Porter and his statement that he "guarantees we'll be better on Wednesday".

I would gladly take him over iCoach right now... At least he was putting us in games.
-
is it too soon to speculate the team is giving up?
-
You might be onto something, even if it's only for entertainment value. I'm in! That wont happen. And here's why: Coach I has no marbles.
-
Give up playing the game because he can't drill opposing players with his head? That makes sense

What could have been done with you season ticket $
tbozeglav replied to MaxZIP's topic in Akron Zips Football
Solution: Instead of wasting the money on tickets, go tailgate, enjoy the atmosphere (whats left of it), and just sit in your car maybe watching other college games or listening to the radio broadcast. -
This is precisely what I was eluding to. I completely agree that the type of mentality that James Harrison has when playing the game is sound; it's the type of fire and passion that you expect from a defensive back. The problem is that he already had a reputation for being a "head hunter" before this game, which was furthered by his actions on the field and his statements after the game. Don't get me wrong, I love a good solid hit as much as anyone else, but there's a fine line between putting a good hit on the guy and putting such a hit on him that both him and you are put at risk of serious injury. Leading with your head is such a hit. Instead of lowering your head and drilling the guy, use your arms, wrap him up and take him down with you. To put this in particular perspective for you, great GP1, if Harrison was on the the Browns squad and did the same things, I would feel exactly the same way. Playing to hurt people, regardless of how Harrison sees it, is classless and disgusting.

Browns fans sure can cry up a river. We know how to burn it and the bridge over it too.

Player who receives a head injury from helmet-to-helmet contact is, by rule, removed from the game. Player who caused the injury gets to keep playing. Fantastic logic. Throw into the mix he wasn't flagged, and you've got a horribly unbalanced system. First hit could have gone either way, but the second one was without a question a rule infraction. I hope fines/suspensions are headed his way.

Yeah I heard it at my house south of campus. Around 6:30 or even a bit later I think. Another video from another angle:
-
Im not sure if I would fully classify it as "baggage". He might be upset, sure, but if he is using it as a motivator to go somewhere else to prove he's got what it takes to be a D1-A player, then its energy our team could use.
-
Thought Id add this in case anyone missed it. From Zipline: Hopefully someone will be able to catch it on video and share. It'd be really cool to see happen.

If it's not the QB's fault, then whose is it? Im pretty sure as this season goes on, iCoach makes himself look like more of a tool than the week before. Last I checked, it was Nicely who threw those INTs, who fumbled 3 times, who made a stupid attempt to get the ball out of the end zone when taking a safety would have been acceptable. Sure, the offensive line didn't help the situation letting pressure get to him all day long, resulting in 7 sacks, but ultimately it was Nicely who was responsible for the turnovers. iCoach, you can sit there and say it wasn't the QB's fault, but that just makes you look like the fool here.

UA buys the Plasma building!
tbozeglav replied to ZachTheZip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
McDonald's is open 24/7 now. But something other than that would be nice. The people who run Chipotle around here are fools to not want one around campus. Give me one, just one, 100% legit reason they wouldn't want to. Im really curious why they wouldn't because I can't see them doing anything other than making a killing if they were near campus. -
It unfortunately is. Theres no getting around that. I agree the D played well enough to get us the win. Hell, the special teams didn't do that badly either. Remove the costly penalties, sacks, and turnovers our offense produced, and there's a real good chance we're singing a different tune today. Unfortunately, the wheels have fallen off this season and we're stuck watching the rest of the season wondering which of the remaining teams on the schedule will happen to play worse than us and land us a lucky victory.
