  1. ive noticed that... but doesnt that also call for the demolition of the decrepit tennis courts? any source for info there?
  2. dont know if thats typical, but that should prove difficult for us. Height also means weight and theyll be able to easily push us around. We'll have to keep the ball out of the air too since they have the clear height advantage. im looking for porter to re-establish the way we normally play via possession and accurate passing to minimize those advantages they may have over us. hopefully we'll also have luke back to compliment maddocks... we desperately need him. We're nowhere near as good as we are when he's out there.
  3. i think your hopes are closer to reality. UCSB, based on what I watched, played us very well and did an EXCELLENT job at disrupting our flow. There were times where we were able to settle into our game for a minute or two, but UCSB would find a way to disrupt our passing and press into the second and final 3rd of the field. I give a lot of credit to their preparation for the game. Side note: the West has not been kind to us this year.
  4. convinced myself to not post right after the game. instead, went to the bar, got tons of beers, and slept it off. Thoughts as they come to me: Our passing was horrid and felt too lazy. We werent making many direct passes allowing defenders to slip in and take it away. Additionally, i felt like many of our passes were done with too much traffic allowing for UCSB to intercept them On the flip side, wtf was with all the passing in the final 3rd? with the game tied and time dwindling, why weren't we attacking, taking shots, and trying to win the game? Seemed like nobody wanted to step up and wanted to pass it off... Im sure thats not the case, but it sure as hell seemed like it UCSB played us REALLY well. Very strong and athletic and was able to just manhandle us around the ball at times. Whenever we would drive the ball, they seemed to always have a guy nearby to defend, if not another to try and intercept the ball. That crossbar deserved to be the player of the game. I didnt notice myself while watching (too frustrated), but if Luke was in fact pulled from the game, I would be concerned as to what happened to prompt that. That cannot happen again.... Meves.... UCSB's 2 goals in regulation were pretty good, though the first one I though Meves played it too far to his right to protect the far post. The second goal was just a fantastic play by the UCSB guy (name escapes me). The OT goal... well, i guess that happens so I am not sure how to grade Meves there. He was certainly frustrating at times tonight, but at least his tackle when picking up a ball was epic HAHA! While UCSB is far better, I view this game as the CSU game last year. Hopefully things repeat themselves I am hoping this team comes together over the next 2 days and puts a shelling on NIU.
  5. Called Tap House only to find out that they have a band playing instead of the game... guess they didn't think there'd be interest in showing it, but no big deal. Would go to Manny's but... meh... to the student union I go..
  6. the #1 reason this video has so many hits is because its one of few, if not THE only, marching band renditions of a VERY popular song by a VERY popular artist group. If people search for "Party Roch Anthem", theyll see the videos for the actual song and then this...
  7. okay, I'll go with you. I need to wash my car before Sunday though and saturday was gonna be the day. lol Same. I gotta find a plan for that. In related news to this thread: ive lately grown to really love IPAs for some reason... not all of them, but quite a few. I had one last night that was pretty good. Too bad I already forgot what it was lol... Ill look it up when im at that bar next week.
  8. Was wondering if anyone was able to find out what, if any, bars or restaurants will be showing the game tonight. Closer to the downtown area is better. Haven't seen anyone post info so this may help others besides me. Thanks
  9. yo AKRONNNNNNNNN hit me up saturday. i might tag along for s#its n giggles...
  10. I wasn't able to see the live video feed on Saturday. Were our kickoffs any better than they were against VMI? anything kicking related was, relatively speaking, a wash due to the high winds they had in Ypsilanti this past weekend. Thats not to say that kicking wasnt great but it was hard to judge when there was a strong wind blowing from the north to the south...
  11. just throwing this out there now that its been mentioned of expanding the soccer stadium again... they shouldnt expand TOO large. By limiting the available "seats" as they are now, they're manufacturing a little more demand for the seats available and thus increasing the intangible value of the ticket being purchased. Granted this is only effective to certain extents before its so limited that interest diminishes, but where we're at right now is PERFECT. We're able to pack almost 6k into our facility for our big games and yet maintain a 3k average and not seem like the facility dwarfs the crowd.
  12. My concern is how susceptible we'll be if someone were to get injured. I know, extreme route, but its a possibility and I won't get my hopes up because this team was never heralded as an immediate repeat contender. Ill just start clearing space on my credit card for a potential december road trip to the south... thats all...
  13. The key issue is money. If we kick his butt to the curb tomorrow morning, that means we have to eat his remaining guaranteed contract in addition to paying the replacement AT THE SAME TIME. I will go out on a limb and say that we don't have the financial backing to do such a thing unless a wealthy alumnus/donor comes along to provide the backing needed. NFL teams and BCS teams have the luxury of large budgets and alumni bases to allow for such coaching changes... we aren't as fortunate. You are right, however, that every day, week, month, and year we keep iCoach, the more likely (presently speaking) we are to being shown the door from D1 status. Last year I thought was just a fluke given how much of a change in program philosophy was happening. I accepted it and hoped for improvement. I have seen no such thing so far this year. Losing to Gardner Webb last year was embarassing, but failing to even score a TD, even in garbage time against overpowering BCS teams, is more of an embarrassment, especially considering they were in his second year of tenure when we had a FULL off season to prepare the team. I will give iCoach till the end of this season to show me and other football fans there's reason to keep hope. That means a few more wins and at the very least competitive losses. Any less than that and I will be on the bandwagon to get his keester kicked out... if he posts another 1-11 season, I will call for any and all finances be used to get him out. The damage to our pocket books is far less than the damage he's doing to our school. Yes, I am very frustrated with him and his "program".
  14. I used to think TW needed to be shown the door with this hire, but after this thread I can concede that in all other aspects of the University's athletics, he's done a fantastic job. Granted he's inherited a few very fortunate situations (Porter and the soccer team and KD) along with some up-and-coming programs, but from what I've seen he's been able to improve athletics all around, which a core fundamental of his job. Even if he did inherit the fortunate situations, it's still on him to capitalize on them and continue the progress they've already had. In that respect he's excelled. In the aspect of the most visible area of the University's athletics (literally via our mostly-empty $60mil stadium and figuratively through the negative fan support of the team), he's utterly failed. iCoach has proven thus far to be a terrible move on his part. Its very difficult to defend a man who's posted a 2-15 record in his tenure in addition to showing next to no progress on the field to improve on that record. Even in JD Brookhart's dark days, he was still competitive and winning more games. iCoach just seems like a chicken with his head cut off out there... Point is... TW will be judged FIRST on football, THEN on everything else. Thats just how things go in collegiate athletics. Football is the cashcow where most of the money is spent and comes in and his grading is based accordingly. Right now, I'd give TW a C overall... Had the football hire gone better and resulted in at least a mediocre team that showed improvement, I'd give him a B-... but a C is the best I can give him right now...
  15. I agree. Given the current state of affairs with this team, we should be thankful we're still D1A (FBS or whatever the hell its called now). Hopefully things will turn around soon enough that we won't have to worry about attendance... but we all know that wont happen until a few "changes" are made...
  16. we should be tied right now.... but of course we miscommunicate on a TD pass...
  17. this wind is really affecting the game. we need to score while we have it at our back. agreed.... current and last possession started around the 35 of EMU... we have to capitalize on the favorable conditions while we can. Our D is, SOMEHOW, holding them from driving down the field and we can't afford to miss opportunities...
  18. THIS. If theres anyone who knows who our best keeper is, its Porter. He knows our guys better than all of us combined, and he'd put someone better out there if he knew Meves wasn't the best.
  19. long TD pass off a turnover... 7-14 EMU... not a bad pass...
  20. I loved how the announcers brought up the stat that Akron has the 22nd best pass defense in the nation... but yes, when you don't need to pass the ball to beat us, why would you? Makes our pass defense "look" good, though, so I guess we'll take our victories where we can get them.
  21. thats more common than you think, but yes. The less information your opponent has on your PK tendencies (strengths/weaknesses), the better off you are...
  22. aaaaaannnndddd now its 7-0 EMU.... run defense looks pathetic...
  23. I almost feel like this stream is being filmed with 80's equipment... but hey, its a free stream so I can watch... I won't complain THAT much....
  24. its always funny to hear how delusional people are when it comes to college athletics. if he was as good as they claimed to be, he'd be here. theres a reason hes not...
