  1. bomb planted.../thread troll is obvious
  2. ^^^ what he said. He may be the head football coach at the biggest D-1 school in our state that overshadows our program, but that doesn't change the fact that he is an alumnus of The University of Akron. Sure, putting his name at the beginning of the book will grab the eyes of all those OSU "fans" out there, but why not do it?! Maybe that'll get them interested enough to read about our program and lean about something they've been blinded from seeing for years now.
  3. You guys locally may have take pictures if the Cams stay off like they did this past weekend.Ill be in akron saturday... Ill see if I can sneak around and snap a few pictures.
  4. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for, and hopefully what everyone else will be interested in.Definitely a bit of an eye opener. We have a lot of work ahead of us before we become an elite team. It is a bit odd that other fans in the MAC are beginning to hold Akron in such high regard when we havent done much since 05. Either way, I hope this year is the turning point towards a lot of future successes.
  5. Thats great and all, but what also needs to be looked at when making the claim of "dominating the MAC" is our record versus conference opponents in the last 5 years or so. Not arguing that we are "dominating the MAC", but Id be more interested in our recent records vs conference opponents than all-time records.
  6. great news! is this already the direct result of the new stadium influencing alumni to donate to the university?
  7. I think the ribbon board extends the length of the stands...it's just not all operational yet.no, the ribbon board on the east stands is complete... its the ribbon board on the scoreboard that im wondering about. if you look at cam #2, you'll see what i mean on either side of the ribbon board.ION, the videoscoreboard is showing "highlights" from last year's games... cant see anything else tho... haha
  8. ribbon boards look sweet!!!does anyone know what they are putting on either side of the ribbon board on the scoreboard? It looks kinda awkward with the support structure exposed like that.
  9. so.... are the webcams down for good? didnt know the team practices in the wee hours of sunday morning
  10. lets just hope someone happens to be around when they test the lights out so we can end the debate on whether the light system is adequate enough... lol
  11. pretty much. Goes to show how much our campus improvements are really starting to show at other MAC schools. Kinda bummed at the lack of hate in that thread. I expected more puns, jokes, and insults, but like zen pointed out, theres just a growing sense of the fact that Akron is on its way up while everyone is stuck at sea level. Just one more of those times when you feel proud to be Zips fan.
  12. I was simply using the term as you seem to be frequently pointing out the less-than-stellar design of the lights. Sorry that I didn't choose the right words? Im sorry to this entire forum that I was simply trying to point out that he shouldnt be as disappointed as he makes himself out to be. I guess that my attempt to give useful information wasn't received well and I should just shut up.
  13. Oh I understand. Don't get me wrong, this scoreboard is more than we could have imagined at the Rubber Bowl. However, its the quality of the scoreboard versus the overall quality of the stadium that bothers me. With a structure that looks so beautiful, youd think theyd want a scoreboard that would tie in with the east and west structures. Oh well.As for the lights... seriously? You're really that sour over the lights? I can understand being sad they didn't go with the original rendered design, but are they really that much of a disappointment? Have you seen the pictures everyone has posted of them? They are lightyears better than nearly every high school stadium I've ever seen (Fawcett stadium doesn't count)For comparison purposes, see Cant's stadium and West Virginia's stadiumCan't: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dix_Stad...East_Stands.JPGWest Virginia: http://www.msnsportsnet.com/page.cfm?section=7920THOSE look more like highschool than ours. Our towers have just as many if not more lights, but are also completely painted in UA Blue. Not trying to start an argument, just pointing it out.
  14. to be brutally honest, I am really disappointed by the overall quality of the scoreboard. Of all the things people will be looking at the most, why skimp out on the scoreboard? Im sorry, but wrapping over a metal frame is going to look cheap and unprofessional, regardless of how nice you try to make it look.I look at the scoreboard and I see so much potential for it to be a true centerpiece for the stadium, but I feel as though they cut scoreboard costs to fund other areas that may not necessarily needed the money. Im sorry, but this is my only complaint about the stadium. Every other aspect has really above all my expectations except for this. I wish the University would have taken more consideration into this piece, but if that is what they decided to do, then so be it. It is what it is.
  15. They're working fine for me.odd... when i visited i was getting an image saying "webcams unavailable"
  16. Here's a few of the 27 I took yesterday. The rest can be viewed at my Photobucket Album.Enjoy!
  17. I thought the Zips were moving to the 3-4 (or 4-3?) defensenot that we've heard. I believe at the spring game they experimented with a standard set defense, but that the 3-3-5 was still going to be used as our primary defensive scheme
  18. my final contribution:trolls will be trolls... there's little we can do. I agree to completely disagree with you, Jake
  19. so does anyone know what they're doing with the hillsides on either side of the endzone facility? are they doing landscaping, grass, wackywavinginflatablearmflailingtubemen?
  20. Winking Lizard food is EXCELLENT. Im definitely going to try to be there for this. I wanna get a tour of the new digs, and since ill be in akron that day anyways, it'll work out perfectly. Ill take my DSLR too so I can snag some good pictures of the place.
  21. wow... that "infocision stadium" sign is huge! i also noticed concrete going in towards the field house. Place keeps getting closer and closer to being ready!and yes, i see sod in the south berm. suck it grass seed advocates
