Lot 34 is where I think ill tailgate. It's paved in the driving lanes, but all the parking spots are gravel. If you get a perimeter spot, you also have grass you can set some stuff up on. Its a bit of a walk to the stadium, but you get to walk right through the heart of campus.

Player Introductions (Some Suggestions)
tbozeglav replied to UAZip0510's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
"I Put On" would be a really good intro."As I Am" up until about 1:30-ish would work very well (my personal choice)"Requiem for a Dream" works really well, but an intro song should be one that PUMPS the crowd up... rap or rock seem to do this best. -
LBJ Skills Academy at the University of Akron
tbozeglav replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
i dont see what the big deal is here... lebron got dunked on by a college kid in a pick-up game. big freaking deal. Props for the kid for being good enough to take LeBron on. To be able to get ONE dunk on him? thats pretty damn good. LeBron is still one of, if not THE best in the game right now and there's no refuting it.This is just the media being sensationalistic -
fantastic picture! everyone's so concerned about the west side that nobody thinks to take a look at whats going on over on the east end... I wonder how far up the brickwork will go and what theyll be doing the bare steel supports...

parking services one can be useful if youre a commuter... and if they keep up on updates.the first day i woke up to like 15 twitters from UA Parking... but after that the updates just stopped. They got back to updating later into the semester, so maybe theyll fully utilize it's usefulness.

Is Akron already behind in the recruiting race?
tbozeglav replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
bingo. hit it on the head.the number of recruits that have given verbals does not directly correlate to the overall calliber of the recruits themselves. We've said this many times before: "Build it and they will come".... well, we've built it, now we just need to wait for them to come... and they will. Its hard to sell a recruit on a stadium that isn't done, that they can't experience with the fans and the game itself. I expect many more verbals to come in late into our football season once recruits are given the opportunity to truly feel what it would be like to be a Zip -
I think they should give out commemorative Zips hard hats for the opening game, like the one MR wears in the video ! "Men at Work"...fits with the Australia theme i think the marketing department suddenly developed a brain and now WANTS to promote football on campus... like... seriously... its took $61 million stadium to get them to realize the vast majority of students dont know about the games?

students get the southern 3 sections of each side of the stadium along with the grass endzone hill. I think that's more than sufficient...

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! this entire stadium is now a failure. on a serious note.thanks for all the support but before you go showering me with to much love you should know that I have an MOS that will probably never even see a deployment but I am still proud to have my little piece in the pieOn the other hand, we really don't want details regarding the size of your piece. made my daykinda walked into that onemust have hurt.

Akron wi-fi network...will it last?
tbozeglav replied to ZippyRulz's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
To answer some questions here...Will there be University wireless in the stadium? YesWill the network be available to all users? Probably notSince there will be classrooms in the stadium, they will be installing wireless network devices throughout and Tsunami (UA's Student/faculty wireless network) will be available.I pretty much expect the University to operate different networks in the stadium based on their use. Media related network usage will probably get their own network, Club/suites may get their own network, and perhaps they may operate the University's public network in the same building. However, as far as the media goes, they may operate all the Media's internet connections through wired access so that the network is easier to manage and limit access to.As far as the city's free wireless... Seeing how the article points out UA put money towards the initiative since the project covers the campus, I don't see this as dooming UA's network. UA will always have their own wireless because you cannot let a school run on a wireless network operated by an outside company and on a network thats publicly available to anyone with a laptop and wireless card and not run into major network security issues. -
was thinking the exact same thing

cleveland hater much? sheesh...i think the fact that this city hasnt seen a championship of any kind in the last 40 years is the real reason people seem to not appreciate the team.

Barbara Boxer is an ungreatful B****
tbozeglav replied to ksu sucks's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
honestly, she should give the general the respect he earned and deserved through his years of service in the military. Calling him out on something as petty as a "title" is derogatory to the entire military. I couldnt care less how she "earned" her title, but I can sure as hell guarantee it wasnt even 1/4 as much of a personal sacrifice as serving in the military was. -

Parking lot above North Parking Deck to close
tbozeglav replied to zipfan85's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
more or less bad timing. they're building the new parking deck on south campus that'll hold something to the tune of 1500 cars, but it wont be done for another year. -
you know... I was steadfast against having beer available at all concession stands, but was okay with it being at the club levels. What CK said really brought things to light. Not trying to be a flaming liberal here, but he's right; the decision screams elitism and says that all of us aren't worthy of having a beer at the Info because our pocketbooks are large enough to buy our way into the social comforts of enjoying a cold beer. All or Nothing...

First and only. This has the potential to grow into a major program. Especially with all the infrastructure issues we have in this country.nevermind the horrid infrastructure in our backyard...

they will have us playing in the RB for the '10 game. As mentioned before, EA Sports needs to take high-resolution photographs of the field and the facility so they can put the model into the game. Since our stadium (or Minnesota's) wasn't complete when they started the development process of the stadium renderings, they will use the previous year's facility until they can get high-res pictures to base their models off of. I fully expect us to be in ICS for the '11 edition.

Theres one house left on spicer... which is the one that can't be torn down until the court case is settled over the UA Trustee and his son... that whole shenanigansAs soon as that house goes down, i believe they'll start work on the other dorms that are slated to be built on the corner of spicer and exchange.
-
I told you to wait until the work was further along in being installed and those ABJ long range photos on rainy day was not doing the field any justice. I love what they're install and they still have logo's, numbers, the endzones and eastside sideline to do. i didnt mean to come across like that... i was just disgused by how bland either it looks at that point during installation or the photographer not taking the time to correct his white/black levels in photoshop.
