  1. And we are off the bench and ready to get at it!Finally, now lets get some 5 stars Robby.
  2. Scout has no info, other than listing him as a 2 star. Also at 6-6, 190.http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p...amp;nid=5307682He is rail thin, but obviously that profile could be old if he did indeed grow an inch.
  3. Let me clarify a little bit more, as I posted above, the biggest guy (not including Zeke and Nik) currently on our roster and/or in our known verbals is 6'7" (Egner, Treadwell and Harney are all listed there). Nik graduates this year, Zeke the year after. I understand that 7'0"+ true C's aren't exactly a dime a dozen, and have no expectations that we will be able to land someone the caliber of a Zeke whenever we so please. I would be perfectly fine with a 6'9" or 6'10" power forward who can nominally play the "Center" position at this level. I don't see that guy on our roster, right now for when Zeke leaves. That is why I am ok with Akbar de-verballing. If it opens things up to find that kind of player then I am perfectly fine with it.This!I don't get why people assume we mean that we need another Zeke, that would be great to get another 7 footer but as Zeke has shown, just because he is 7 foot doesn't mean a whole lot.But what we don't need is 6'5 PFs....we need to get some kids in here that have legit size. 6'8s, 6'9s etc.. We need some bangers, not only because we haven't had one since Wood, but because we have nothing in the pipeline for when Zeke leaves.
  4. We still need a center..not another undersized PF.I am not disappointed in this at all. I hope KD will go out there and find a true big now.
  5. Winkin Lizard is pretty large. It would fit quite a few people in there.Becky's is a college spot, but locals stop by but the place is small and dirty.Bricco is expensive and not a pre-game place of sorts. And the walk is only a couple minutes from the Wolstein to Winkin, Boneyard, Nick's, etc...etc...
  6. 6'5'' PF?Cant say that would ever get me excited. I know his ESPN profile says SF, but if he is also considered a PF that doesn't speak volumes to his game be able to mature into a decent SF. But time will tell I guess, I have not heard nor seen him play so looks like we have some homework to do.
  7. Please give us your prediction on how bad you think they will be punished. That way, if you are wrong, we can all laugh at you.Like clockwork. I wouldn't give you the pleasure. Just keep listening to BSPN.I love how Buckeye fans think this whole thing is a conspiracy theory from ESPN to destroy the university and they have done no wrong and none of this would be an issue if ESPN wouldn't keep up with their smear campaign. That's where I get my laughs....just adds another notch to why people cant stand Buckeye fans.
  8. Actually on my way to get this...But since the rosters wont come out until later in the week, will probably play some road to glory. But I am looking to start my career as the OC of the Zips for my dynasty. i always start my career at Akron with hopes of leading its way to Notre Dame. I love building the Zips into a winner and I am stoked about the Info being in the game this year. The info looks sweet. Got in a few hours today. the Road to Glory mode is fleshed out. Very fun. Went 1-3 first 4 games almost pulling out games with Temple and Cincinnati.Road to Glory could be fun, just don't do it as an Iron Man. You get subbed out on offense almost the entire time. (as HB anyway...) But since Akron is a 1 star school, I still got an offer from them after the first game. Im holding out on actual games until rosters. I always hate looking at numbers or fake names.

  10. In the MAC, the team with the best QB typically is the one left standing at the end. What we have struggled with since Getsy has left is having a solid QB under center that can lead this team. Is Clayton that guy? I certainly hope so because I have stated that I am just not buying into PN7, but hopefully one of them can step up big for us.Next would be the RB, Chisholm, just to be able to see a dynamic RB that people raved out would be a bright spot for a woeful offense that we have seen lately.
  11. Good read. Hit on some good points about his coaching career.
  12. Being discussed in the study about the jar thread.
  13. Impressive strike!
  14. I too am hoping for big things out of Clayton, because I am not impressed in the least bit with what I have saw from Nicely the last two years. Yes, he is still young and he had growing pains being thrown into the lineup but last year I saw a kid that just couldn't make the throws out of a pro style offense. If he wins the QB battle, I am expecting a very long year again in Akron and would be very disappointed in yet another big bust of a player that was once highly rated.
  15. Yeah, I agree. I can't imagine this being close. Even with all the guys OSU has out, their defense is still as strong as can be and the Zips offense is probably going to be woeful again this year. Especially if Nicely is still lining up under center.I would love to keep it close, the game a couple years ago was atleast entertaining there for about three fourths of the game. That was our best chance of an upset!I will still be going to the game and rocking Zips gear though!
  16. I know myself and others mentioned the Cavaliers DLeague team and where they would be located, looks like they are going to Canton. This is an opportunity lost for Akron, if they had a downtown arena or were in the stages of doing so, I am sure Akron could have made a strong case to have that team there and not Canton. But there is nothing stopping them from moving in the future should this idea ever come to fruition....
  17. Always good to get that kind of pub. Hopefully he has been working hard and is ready to take that big leap this year!
  18. Wow...that was a thing of beauty!
  19. When you win one game this kind of thing should be expected.
  20. He was putting in work in a rec league at Chippewa HS....he's a tough matchup, def knows his way around the court still.
  21. NBA teams typically don't pick Europeans and then keep them in Europe. Uhm...yes they do. Tony Parker, Tiago Splitter, L Scoila, Manu Ginoboli...sp? on those..., come to me right off the top of my head. This has been a common practice since the mid to late 90s.
  22. Seems to have some decent schools targeting him, so that is a good sign as far an an indicator of what level of player he is. It would be nice to get some dynamic wings in the program, which is one area where we always seem to be lacking.
  23. Certainly isn't looking promising so far. Nothing wrong with offering kids that have BCS offers, but you need to get those midlevel players that you have a shot at and try to build some kind of base before football season rolls around. If he tries to fill the gap with kids that were borderline BCS players that maybe gets looked over at the last minute, we are going to have a huge hole of unused scholarships.
  24. I have not been impressed with Zeke thus far as a Zip. He clearly is not close to being anything that resembles a basketball player. That said, he is still 7 foot tall, athletic as hell, can run, defend and block shots. Some NBA team is going to think they can develop him enough offensively that he can be a defender. You bring up his stats in the MAC, that is really irrelevent. John Edwards barely played at Can't State and had a short NBA career. Why? Because he was 7 foot tall. People will gamble and make sure he has no game before they never give him a chance. Zeke is a guaranteed first round pick if he comes out after his senior year. Book it.
  25. I agree about making money to players legal is just opening a can of worms that the NCAA doesn't want. First, it just makes that gap between BCS and non BCS schools that much wider. How can Akron generate the budget to pay players as equally as Ohio State? It's just not possible. Second, these kids are entitled as is. Tossing money their way is just going to make them that much hungry for greed. I think corruption in this scenario rises, because when is enough, enough? Tough shit the NCAA makes billions, they make it off the product, not the individual player. I slaved away at a NAIA school on a partial scholarship, worked a job, and still was happy that I got barely a little bit off of school. These kids already get a full ride, a stipend, government aid in most cases, and have no worries of debt once leaving school. Enough is enough. If they pay the players, that is probably the point I stop watching NCAA athletics and cancel my season tickets and write off sports all together as a fan. Im tired of seeing all these ungrateful athletes catered too like they are a special class citizen.
