  1. True, you think Cleveland State, you think of their wins in the tournament. Cant fans hang their hats on their run. I'll give them credit for scheduling better teams (and losing the Binghamtons) and for making the tourney again, and playing competitively in the first half. Now we need to make the next step and improve in those games. Then we can schedule into the NEXT tier of teams.
  2. Before I get all mad at Coach Bangston and everyone else, I have a couple questions maybe someone knows the answer to. How many scholarships does the baseball program have to work with? How did the team draw at Canal Park? Any more than at the soccer stadium retention basin? Maybe like some other schools (NDC, CSU), it's time to just play at a minor league park. But that again winds back to the first question. How much money does the baseball team have to spend? If they only get a handful of scholies, and can't afford any better field than that, I really can't blame Coach B for not being able to recruit. I look at the softball stadium, and have met players from, say, Seattle on a full ride, and I don't see that commitment to baseball. But I don't know anybody on the inside who can answer my questions. If this is all baseball is ever going to be, I'll take it for what it is. A great way to soak up some sun between classes and watch some ball. And not get overly excited about the team's performance.
  3. For the first time in 5 years, I don't think I'm gonna make a ballgame.
  4. Scheduling doesn't drag down the conference RPI. Having a lousy Western Conference drags down your conference RPI. Did I hear right during the conference championship, that Toledo has three scholarship players??? That's not DI, and the MAC needs to jettison the dead weight. How bad is the West? Let's look past the RPI to the Sagarin Ratings... 82 Can't State = 78.49 24 12 73.30( 144) 0 1 | 0 1 | 80.11 71 | 76.71 98 117 Buffalo = 75.83 19 14 71.68( 187) 0 1 | 0 1 | 75.36 124 | 75.94 109 122 Akron = 75.43 22 13 71.75( 183) 0 1 | 0 2 | 76.13 115 | 74.40 128 146 Ohio University = 73.71 19 16 71.96( 178) 0 1 | 0 2 | 74.24 138 | 72.84 154 155 Ball State = 73.12 18 12 70.05( 246) 0 1 | 0 2 | 73.35 150 | 72.53 159 164 Miami-Ohio = 72.47 15 17 75.46( 88) 0 5 | 1 6 | 74.34 136 | 70.25 192 165 Western Michigan = 72.38 20 13 69.82( 253) 0 1 | 0 3 | 72.56 163 | 71.84 167 235 Bowling Green = 67.70 13 19 71.07( 209) 0 0 | 0 2 | 68.24 224 | 66.77 245 275 Central Michigan = 64.65 9 21 70.77( 218) 0 0 | 0 2 | 64.21 279 | 64.71 272 282 Northern Illinois = 64.22 8 21 70.76( 219) 0 0 | 0 3 | 63.02 297 | 64.94 267 302 Eastern Michigan = 62.76 6 22 70.47( 235) 0 0 | 0 1 | 60.75 317 | 64.05 280 333 Toledo = 57.53 3 28 71.99( 177) 0 2 | 0 4 | 56.50 335 | 58.07 328 Five schools that can't sniff the C-USA or Horizon League cellar. Five programs ranked >200th 17th ranked conference out of 33, behind such powerhouses as the Metro Atlantic, the Ivy League, and the West Coast. The problem is not the scheduling, the problem is the western division sucks and doesn't belong in DI.
  5. Maybe we're just too clean...
  6. Now comes the news that they are investigating 50 car sales by a salesman in Cbus to tOSU players. Said salesman got passes to games. One registration shows the sale price of $0.00. Another story of TP taking a car on a "3 day test drive" to Pa to visit his parents. The shit hasn't even started to hit the fan yet...
  7. You know, if we had the '05 team...
  8. They're dropping like flies...
  9. I brought this up a couple weeks ago. You know they're going to show up September 10 a half hour before the game and wonder why they can't get the scoreboard to work. The one at the Rubber Bowl is still intact. Aww hell don't give them any ideas.
  10. Now that's funny.
  11. Hell the baseball team couldn't even see fit to play during the Springfest this year. That was the highlight for me last year. Food, sports. Arcade. Watched softball until BGSU's lack of basic fundamentals made me throw up in my mouth. Then "people" watched until the baseball game. I bet 98% of the students don't even know what that retention basin behind the soccer stadium is for. All of the big time sports needs to be a part of this. If nothing else, football should have a booth where you throw footballs through holes in a tarp, staffed by players in jerseys. Hit three in a row and you get a stuffed Zippy. Hit four in a row, and get an ICoach voodoo doll. Basketball could have a foul shot game. Soccer. Visibility...
  12. Let the Bucks go 5-7 a couple of years and see how many people fall off the band wagon.
  13. He didn't saw WHICH draft. With a half dozen arena leagues and a bunch of semi-pro leagues, it might happen.
  14. but we don't have to like it
  15. I love it how peope on this forum rip on the Buckeyes at every opportunity they can. It's hard to find something positive to say about the Zips so they resort to ripping the Buckeyes. It' actually pretty sad. Screw the Buckeyes...i enjoy every moment they fail, almost as much as I enjoy when Can't fails (which happens a lot, yet never gets old ). What is wrong with that? Now i get the whole overdoing it on the Buckeyes thing (and please let's not start that again), but honestly, OF COURSE people are going to rip on another in-state team that might as well be considered a rival, that's what fan forums are for! I guess not all of us are sick and tired of having them shoved down our throats by sports fans who are compensating for their pro teams sucking sewer water by gang banging on a team 150 miles away. I understand it from OSU alum, by all means. But most of these people never sniffed a college classroom...
  16. Excellent!!!
  17. nice...
  18. Yep, still on the fence on this one...
  19. In an area where boys are raised to love the Browns and the Buckeyes (or the Steelers), what has this program done to reach out to the football fan? There is no marketing. None. Yeah they get flashed up on a billboard for a few seconds, but so does mens and womens basketball, soccer. So does Can't State. The merchandising still sucks. I don't remember if it was TJ Maxx or JP Penny last week, but I was in one, IN AKRON, and they sold Can't State crap but not Akron. I swear we're not only under the shadow of tOSU, we're also under the shadow of Can't State. I wanted to buy a winter coat, they don't make them. Guess I'll have to buy another Akron Aeros coat this fall. It's pretty sad when a liberal arts college has more stuff then your own "Division I" school does. New stadium. Woo hoo. They can't be bothered to fix the wind damaged scoreboard. I'm waiting for a gust of wind to get up inside there and blow all the front panels out. They'll show up on game day, and wonder why it doesn't work. I don't even want to go into the gong show on the field. Not having the talent in your first year is one thing. But the same linemen making the same mistakes and drawing the same penalties in the spring game, the scrimmage, and in late November to kill possibly winning drives, is UNACCEPTABLE. Down years, I understand. Overmatched against bigger schools, not a problem. But a complete lack of coaching, I'm not coming down here to watch it and I get in free. I see better football on friday nights. The whole thing just gives me the impression that nobody in the program gives a shit. So why should I? Congrats football on your accomplishment.
  20. I don't think anybody is expecting the Zips (or any other school where it snows) to go to Omaha this summer. But we're usually better than THIS. We had a winning record a couple years ago.
  21. With this program go back to school you can probably walk on and make the team. 6-23, 0-9 in the Mac. They're making the football team look good. WHAT THE HELL???
  22. Wayne County Speedway. Joe Tait. This has been a bad week... Next someone is going to tell me Starcher's Pool Hall is gone.
  23. Easy now. Gloria's from Akron. We have to be fans...
  24. So much for that idea.
