I'm not familiar with this forum software. On my computer the forum started looking like this IS this something new? Or does this have something to do with my 16 month old grand daughter visiting yesterday?

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?
Spin replied to Dr Z's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
The Vest is suspended two games. Akron and Toledo. If only we had our shit together... Toledo might give them a game. -
What the heck. No baseball at Springfest this year? Who's idea was that? Screw that mess, if there's no ball...

Someone correct me. Were we not talking about the development of players, strengths and weaknesses of guys like Marshall and Euton. And it turned into someone taking it as a personal attack? Is this golden boy a senior, who we really don't expect to develop much in the few weeks he has remaining of college? I need to know who the untouchables are before I do any more analysis. Don't wanna piss on anyone else's feel good-lets sing the Barney song thread.

JHC I made one comment about his play, and you guys go ape shit. I realize he's a Freshman and has lots of potential. I just saw things that (as I've said twice) were corrected later in the game. And I have no idea who you're insinuating my "golden boy" is. Wanna clue me in? Unbunch your panties and grow a few more layers of skin. Maybe I should stick to hockey, their fans can take someone saying something negative. Crimony...

Not impressed with Abreu last night, in the first half he seemed to have a shoot-first, shoot-later attitude. That doesn't impress me in any player, especially the playmaker. As I said he did get his act together later in the game and remembered he was a point guard. If you can't accept that observation, that's pretty sad. If you don't want to me to point out the negative along with the positive, maybe a forum isn't the best place for you. And I won't apologize for watching more than one sport. Maybe you should take a lottle road trip this weekend too.

Right now, I really don't care if we start trying to work the ball to Zeke and get him going. This team is winning games in relatively impressive fashion with Cvetinovic and McKnight carrying the load out of the post. Trying to force feed Zeke to get him going (as we did earlier in the season) is only going to serve to disrupt the chemistry and rythm this team has going right now. KD is taking the correct approach right now. Let our proven horses carry the load and whatever you can get out of Zeke on a given night is just gravy. This isn't the time of year to be trying to stroke the confidence of the finiky big man. We'll have the offseason to work on that. Agreed. Zeke is still a project, and next year, when we're minus 4-5 guys is a much better year for projects. Abreu started playing better when he figured out it wasn't his job to drive the lane every time he had the ball. At 5'9 that rarely works against a Buffalo. I'm still not impressed yet. Where was Dakotah? I've been in hockey land the past few months and haven't kept up with the hoops like I should.

Well, Buffalo took us out of the zone, and played their usual hardass ball. And we got the usual bad calls, what would a MAC game be without them? Zeke got a couple early fouls, and spent a lot of time on the bench. But Bardo stepped up in his last regular season home game and made the difference IMO. That was the most exciting crowd I have seen at the JAR. Great college basketball atmosphere.

I borrowed this from a Cleveland pro sports forum. http://www.thedmonline.com/article/change-...ollege-baseball A very nice change IMO. And who knows, it might be easier to recruit pitchers into colleges now that they know they have a chance to put up better numbers than a beer league slow pitch tosser... That was always one of my pet peeves with college ball.

Well heck, I live in Wadsworth. I never lived in Akron. I guess I'm suppose to HATE Akron. We have to compete with Akron. Never mind the fact that when Akron gets something, Wadsworth's hotels and eateries and traffic ticket window benefits. We're better than Akron and Cleveland. Never mind we benefit from anything Akron gets. Hell we'll benefit from the casino, a winning sports team, maybe even the Medical Mart (). But we can do it ourselves. We can start up four TV stations, a major college, upscale shopping, great ethnic restaraunts, museums, we'll get our own NFL team too. Yeah we're a hell of a lot smaller than the primary city in our market. We don't need them, we can do all this ourselves. I betcha Lorain can too!!! I just don't understand that mentality...

Someone give me a video feed for tonite

I can't get ESPN3 on my lapper. Time Warner has too many stinkin hoops to jump through to get it to work. I spent an hour on the phone with India trying to get my account information. -
Read up above. NPSL in 2012 So it's a new NPSL, not the NPSL that was formed from the AISA survivors and the ashes of the MISL, which later changed it's name to MISL. But a new NPSL. An outdoor NPSL. But not the original NPSL, which merged with the USA to frm the NASL. The original NASL, not the now NASL. Which is a bunch of teams that broke away from the USL. Awwww to hell with it. I'll just stick to college...

Now we sit back and wait to see where they're seeded in the conference tournament to see if they get a home game or two.

I've heard AFC Cleveland will be affiliated with a historic English football club. Hmmm, Randy Lerner's Aston Villa?
-
That's the old leagues. The new ones (WFL, USFL, MLS) and some expansion teams use a lot of cutesy non-verbal team names (Crew, Fire, Revolution, Union, Galaxy). Especially in soccer, for some reason.

Zips Hockey plays it's last two regular season home games this weekend. Friday at 9:40 vs. Dayton, and Saturday at 4:00 vs. Cincinnati. If this weather keeps up, they'll be able to play at the Info...

No doubt. "Akron Assault" sound better. Or the name I've been using in FIFA, "Akron Attack".

City of Akron and Zips National Champs Soccer
Spin replied to RowdyZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Looks much nicer than the LeQuitter signs, if there are any that didn't get swiped for scrap yet... -
I think you nailed it. I think there's blame on both sides.

The popularity of College Soccer
Spin replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
and maybe had it within a month of the actual championship. -
The Zips have seven home games scheduled for Canal Park. The four game March homestand (vs. Western Michigan and Malone), May 4 vs. Pitt, May 10 vs. WVA, and May 19 vs. Can't State. Interesting. It's handy having the games on campus, I catch them between classes sometimes. But having a comfortable place to watch them is a plus too.

They had to make a lot of lineup changes since before the break, and need some time to jell. Not easy when you just moved up to D2 this season. But they played tough all night. Two more home games remain, Feb 4th and 5th against Dayton and Cincinnati. They have five road games within Ohio and a couple against Kentucky to close out the season.

X's and O's with the Pros at night on KNR. Best local show out there. And of course, typical KNR, they only get an hour while the RBS (Really Bad Show) gets an extra hour to listen to Rizzo's contrived arguments with Hammer and Ned. It was a funny entertaining show, until the personalities of the combatants became the only show. I can only take Jim Rome in small portions. The minute he starts on his horse, repeats the same semi funny joke over and over, or gets off a decent interview and then reads Clone mail about how it was the greatest ever for the next 2 hours, I'm done. The afternoon guys on 1350 aren't bad. Not as good as when they started IMO. If you would have told me 20 years ago I would miss Peter Brown I'd have said you were nuts.

Want to drive the big schools out of the NCAA and have them start their own league? That is exactly what would happen if they did this. I don't want to "hurt" any school for spending years being successful. There is an old saying that if you took all of the money in the world and divided it equally, at some point, the rich would figure out how to be rich again. If you divided all of the schedules equally, the non-BCS schools would find a way to screw it up and the big schools would still have a money advantage. I remember when Ohio State agreed to play at San Diego State. That spring, San Diego State announced the game would be played in Columbus, Ohio because they could make more money there as the away team than they could off their entire home schedule. Why do you think the Ohio MAC teams take turns going there? Here's a hint: it aint because they think they can win. Schools like tOSU make a bundle with their home games, but they make the small school's budget a lot bigger too...
