  1. Zips Hockey plays it's last two regular season home games this weekend. Friday at 9:40 vs. Dayton, and Saturday at 4:00 vs. Cincinnati. If this weather keeps up, they'll be able to play at the Info...
  2. No doubt. "Akron Assault" sound better. Or the name I've been using in FIFA, "Akron Attack".
  3. Looks much nicer than the LeQuitter signs, if there are any that didn't get swiped for scrap yet...
  4. I think you nailed it. I think there's blame on both sides.
  5. and maybe had it within a month of the actual championship.
  6. The Zips have seven home games scheduled for Canal Park. The four game March homestand (vs. Western Michigan and Malone), May 4 vs. Pitt, May 10 vs. WVA, and May 19 vs. Can't State. Interesting. It's handy having the games on campus, I catch them between classes sometimes. But having a comfortable place to watch them is a plus too.
  7. They had to make a lot of lineup changes since before the break, and need some time to jell. Not easy when you just moved up to D2 this season. But they played tough all night. Two more home games remain, Feb 4th and 5th against Dayton and Cincinnati. They have five road games within Ohio and a couple against Kentucky to close out the season.
  8. X's and O's with the Pros at night on KNR. Best local show out there. And of course, typical KNR, they only get an hour while the RBS (Really Bad Show) gets an extra hour to listen to Rizzo's contrived arguments with Hammer and Ned. It was a funny entertaining show, until the personalities of the combatants became the only show. I can only take Jim Rome in small portions. The minute he starts on his horse, repeats the same semi funny joke over and over, or gets off a decent interview and then reads Clone mail about how it was the greatest ever for the next 2 hours, I'm done. The afternoon guys on 1350 aren't bad. Not as good as when they started IMO. If you would have told me 20 years ago I would miss Peter Brown I'd have said you were nuts.
  9. Want to drive the big schools out of the NCAA and have them start their own league? That is exactly what would happen if they did this. I don't want to "hurt" any school for spending years being successful. There is an old saying that if you took all of the money in the world and divided it equally, at some point, the rich would figure out how to be rich again. If you divided all of the schedules equally, the non-BCS schools would find a way to screw it up and the big schools would still have a money advantage. I remember when Ohio State agreed to play at San Diego State. That spring, San Diego State announced the game would be played in Columbus, Ohio because they could make more money there as the away team than they could off their entire home schedule. Why do you think the Ohio MAC teams take turns going there? Here's a hint: it aint because they think they can win. Schools like tOSU make a bundle with their home games, but they make the small school's budget a lot bigger too...
  10. Cool. You may get to see me fall on my ass. I'm the EMT/Trainer. I hang out on either side of the penalty boxes.
  11. Zips Hockey Friday night vs. the Pittsburgh Panthers. Face off is 9:50 at Center Ice. Admission $3 (free for students). Akron comes in at 8-7, good for 4th in the league. After Friday the "Road Warriors" don't play at home until February. For full details visit https://sites.google.com/site/uakronhockeyc...keyclubteamhome
  12. What's the latest on these guys signing with MLS or going over$ea$?
  13. Final tally, if I have this right... Round One 2. Darlington Nagbe to Portland 3. Perry Kitchen to DC United 4. Zarek Valentin to Chivas USA 7. Kofi Sarkodie to Houston 8. Michael Nanchoff to Vancouver Second Round 31. Chris Korb to DC United 33. Anthony Ampaipitakwong to San Jose
  14. Yeah, getting it spotless now. Nine picks into the second round and Ampi is still on the board. Didn't see that coming...
  15. Just got DirecTV today, and Nate was tearing them up tonight. Very neat seeing him play again. Looks like he may have put on 5 or 6 ounces, too... lol You just never know, as awful as the Cadavers are, he might see time on the big league team this year. Especially with the injuries...
  16. BUT when it hits $5.00 and $6.00, that HSR that the other states have will look awful good... Could you show me some source for your prediction that gas prices will go up that high and that it would have any relation to high speed rail? Honestly, if you have it, I truly would like to see it. When is that predicted to happen? Show me where the world is NEVER going to start running out of petroleum. And I never said the price of gas has anything to do with HSR. But WHEN petrol goes up, for any of a bunch of reasons, it sure would be nice to have an alternative mode of transportation. Ohio is so stuck in the past I can't stand it. There are still people all over Ohio waiting around for the steel mills to open back up. WAKE UP. It's not the 50's anymore. There's a reason most of the worst rust belt wastelands are in Ohio and people are leaving everyday...
  17. Blah blah blah. They do it, so it's not so bad if we do it. Cam Newton blah blah. Tress is well respected among the NCAA. Not that that says much. And Akron doesn't discipline it's players (like the starting QB). The Buckeyes self reported it. But it was found out when the IRS investigated the tattoos. So which is it? Oh well, you can't have an objective conversation with a honk. It's not that I hate the Buckeyes, I proved otherwise. But their defending these jerks, and filing appeals, only a few weeks after Gee's elitist commentary, casts a pall over the Shoe for me. They're no better than the rest of the NCAA. Here's a point I haven't heard brought up yet. If the NCAA had any sense, they would have released their ruling AFTER the Sugar Bowl. Then there wouldn't be any controversy about these men playing in the bowl game, yet suspended in 2011. Not only are they money grubbing hypocrites, they're also very bad at hiding it.
  18. BUT when it hits $5.00 and $6.00, that HSR that the other states have will look awful good...
  19. Funny how people don't consider for a minute that the Ohio network would be only part of a nationwide network of high speed trains. They would just stop in Cincinnati, right? The line through Cleveland and Toledo would just stop at the Indiana broder, right? Come on, Ohio has been the hub of transportation since settlers started moving out of the colonies. We advertised it for years. Now all of that is going to BYPASS our fine state because some myopic politicians turned down millions of dollars, hundreds of jobs, and millions of dollars coming in from out of state. I'll be sure to bump this thread every time gas goes up another dollar per gallon...
  20. They're acting like these guys never KNEW it was illegal to do that stuff. BS If the Sweater Vest was such a virtuous and honest man, he would leave them guys in Columbus and not dress them for the bowl game. Instead, he's APPEALING the penalties. After he admitted they did it. Real men like JD and Keith kick men off of their teams for being stupid. The Vest makes excuses for them and files appeals. The NCAA was investigating the tatoo incident when they found all this other stuff that was illegally sold. THEN tOSU came out and reported it. I was born and raised an Ohio State fan, still have my autographed Archie Griffin picture. Still have tOSU clothes. Still hope they win. Unless they play Akron. But I don't take a blind eye to the hypocrisy fuelled by the NCAA. And I no longer see the Vest on the same throne as Jesus like a lot of "honks" do anymore. Thank you, you made my point. If it were Iowa or Ball State or John Carroll those guys would never see the field again. But because it was one of the NCAA's money machines, it's a double standard. I gotta think the rating$ are going to be a little bit better for tOSU Nebraska. Many in the media outside Ohio see it the same way.
  21. However, if this was anyone other than OSU, you guys could care less. Yeah because tOSU still acts like they're holier-than-thou in all of this. Because tOSU just came out spouting off that it doesn't WANT anybody else besides them and their elitist buddies to be able to play in the BcS. Because if it were anyone else, those jerkoffs would be suspended for the BOWL GAME too. And magically they're back on the field before the Nebraska game? Pure coincidence I'm sure.
  22. Yeah LeBron, see what happens when you don't lay down? Maybe he realized there are people from Akron who can PASS the ball. Have a nice life.
