This thread is something else...a few items of note: 1) I can tell everyone with absolute certainty that if someone had "inside info" within the basketball program, they wouldn't be sharing it. And if they did share it on ZN (a site that coaches, players, etc all view), that "inside info" would stop right there. 2) Which leads us to what exactly is "inside info"...is it talking to a player off the record? Is it hearing rumors? I don't think either qualifies. Unless you're a close friend of a player, they aren't going to share that kind of information with you. Why would they risk getting in trouble with the program to appease a stranger? "Inside info", to me, is receiving concrete information from within the program...not rumors, not hearsay, etc. I don't doubt the people with "inside info" have heard these things, or that they believe them to be true...I just don't put much credibility in what they've heard. 3) Everyone with a brain can figure out Alex Sullivan and Steve Swiech could be potential transfers (and probably should transfer). 4) Listen to KD closely...he said they're bringing in a guard. We'd need two open scholarships to add two players. Do the math

We DON'T have a player with this resume: - Can create his own offense - Is good for 15-20 pretty much every night - Can successfully be a "Go-to" guy late in games We have: - A talented center (Zeke) - A solid combo guard (McNees) - Solid role players (McKnight, Cvetinovic, Hitchens) - Some athleticism (Marshall, Egner, and the 4th recruit should provide this going forward)
-
I would expect Cvetinovic to be tried out more as a SF/PF with Euton getting a large chunk of the backup minutes at C. I still think we will see a lot of McNees at PG next year and I expect that the 4th recruit will be a bigger SG who is more able to get off his own shot and can defend some of the bigger perimeter players we are seeing in the conference. I also have a feeling you will see more Egner at SF with McClanahan going back to his natural SG. Also, don't rule out Michael Green. I think everyone is expecting him to redshirt, but we have been surprised by these kinds of under the radar guys in the past. I expect the opposite - I'd say the 4th recruit will be a PG type. The rest seems pretty accurate though...it'll definitely be interesting!

After KD's comments, is this a fair predicted lineup going into next year's MAC Tourney? C-Marshall/Cvetinovic/Bardo F-Egner/Euton F-McKnight/McClanahan G-McNees/Roberts/ G-4th Recruit/Hitchens/Steward

Blah blah blah blah blah...

So Armon might split early for Europe. Personally, I would be surprised to see him leave. It just seems to good to be true. Bassett leaving would, IMO, make Akron the MAC favorite again next year.

I have no doubt that Keith is driven to win championships. I have no doubt he wants to win every game the Zips play in. I have no doubt his style of play is designed to win against a lot of bad teams and falls short in big games and against good teams. Or maybe his style of play gets the best out of what he's got?

Just last year Akron won the MAC behind their defensive effort...so I'm not sure why some here are saying you can't win with defense. That theory was proven wrong just last year...

try 14.5. Good thing I only put $0.50 on it. I wonder how many people picked OU in the pool? Maybe one or two in the entire country. I honestly did. haha Nah, you didn't. It's a fools bet. BUT the Cats +13.5 probably tempted a lot of people. I honestly need to provide proof? Of course, of all people i would think your love affair with DJ cooper with have had you picking them to win as well. I actually don't gamble because I only bet on sure things, and there is no such thing as a sure thing in gambling. But I have now seem DJ play two games where he was nothing less than spectacular (the last two against us and tonite) and I am damn impressed. As I stated after the second OU game, I won't be shocked if he goes pro early. That guy has all the moves - sandlot ball handling and driving skills, and is a dead on shooter. 1) You don't gamble but you bet? 2) Somebody lock this guy's bank account lol

I don't know about that, but if those two guards (SALIVATING AGAIN) hit for 50+ points combined, they are hard to beat. They went for 50+ combined twice this year. And the results of those games were?????? lol

By the way... Nobody seemed to dislike defense last season...
-
They also shot 58% from the field and 56% from 3PT...that might have had something to do with it.

I just heard that akronzips71 is sitting outside of DJ Cooper's dorm right now...definitely a crazy night.

Looking back at Scout.com, I've realized that maybe we shouldn't put so much stock in how many stars a player is rated as. The evidence: FOUR STARS - Zeke Marshall THREE STARS - Steve Swiech TWO STARS - Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Quade Milum, Bubba Walther, Cedric Middleton, John Rybak, Nate Linhart, Jimmy Conyers, Mike Bardo, Steve McNees, Jimmy Conyers, Darryl Roberts, Chris McKnight, Ronnie Steward, Brett McClanahan, Anthony Hitchens, Alex Sullivan, Nikola Cvetinovic,

Does the Cooper over the shoulder pass
UAZip0510 replied to akronzips71's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Seriously? Comparing him to Magic now? lol...dude, he is a heckuva player, but lets be serious here. And do we really need 5 OU-related threads? They played a GREAT game. They validated their wins agains K-ENT and US. They are on fire. What else can I say. And it IS good for the MAC no matter what you say. A mid level team from a mid level mid major blows out GEORGETOWN!!!!! Awesome, I hope they can do it again. You should just change your username. Possibilities include: OhioBobcats71 IHeartDJCooper71 DJIsGod71 Thats very childish. Our season is over. Our league needs a boost. Back in 1966 Earl the Pearl blew us out of the Mid East Regionals. And we stood up and applauded because we knew we were in the presence of a great player. There is nothing wrong with appreciating great play. Mickey Mantle was the greatest draw in baseball. Opposing stadiums would sell out when the Yanks came to town because they wanted to see the Mick hit home runs. He was that great in his prime and fans want to see great players. REAL sports fans can appreciate a great performance, even when their team loses. And in this case, our team is not even in it. I'm just messing with ya man...no offense meant. But in all seriousness, you have now compared DJ Cooper/Ohio U to: Magic Johnson Mickey Mantle The New York Jets that won the Super Bowl I'm just saying... DJ plays baseball AND is an entire NFL football team? WOW I didn't know that. Now I am REALLY impressed. Uhhh...I said DJ Cooper/Ohio U....I figured you could make the player-player, team-team connection... OU won the Superbowl???? I thought you had to be in the NFL to get in, not the MAC. Have a good night bro...lol
