People are voting for Cleveland State...but no reasoning...would you rather go watch pathetic, out of sync, boring basketball than watch up tempo, non-stop full court pressure, and a team that has been scoring on average of 88 points a game the past 4 games? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.This Lady Zips team is finally clicking. Also, everyone keeps complaining how we can't get a big school to the JAR. Well, women's basketball did bring an ACC team to the JAR in Florida State this year. And you want to go to a game where we might lose by 30+ in Cleveland? I just don't understand the logic of your guys' continue bashing of the basketball program, but you're still going to their games. Everything the women are doing is what you want the men to do. So why not show them some support? Unless you're just that type of person that judges and feels women should have no part of sports...which is the theory I'm sticking to....

The Lady Zips are on a 4 game winning streak. They are playing a style of basketball that most ZN.o posters would drool over right now. They've scored 97, 85, 84, and 87 points respectively in their last 4 games. On the other hand, the men's team is struggling. So my question is since both teams play at the same time within an hour of each other, who will you go see this saturday? If you pick men's over the women's team, I would love to hear your reasoning on it, and what you think the Lady Zips season will be like this year...

The MAC had 4 teams in the NCAA tournament for volleyball(all from the MAC West) this fall as well...

To be completely honest, when I was a senior in high school, I was considering Liberty University as a possibility. Went there in October 2008, and it was really beautiful down there. Stayed the weekend down there, and was able to catch them play against Charleston Southern. Liberty dominated the game and won 42-0. Everything was great down there, and I really enjoyed it that weekend. Being there that weekend, I learned a lot about the university. For Rocco to do as well as he has in recruiting, with the very high standards of the code of conduct there( google "The Liberty Way code of conduct"). You need to read a little bit about the university's code of conduct policy in order to understand how difficult it has to be for Rocco to recruit. For Rocco to be able to recruit players that were good, and fit the university's guidelines, is amazing. Here's a couple articles explaining Liberty's code of conduct: 2008 article explaining a couple of them Start reading after the Glenn Beck-Falwell highlighted quotes Here's two pages about someone that spent a semester at Liberty with this code of conduct, and wrote a book about it. Remember, he was 1-10 before his first year. His worse record in 6 seasons there, is his first year where they went 6-5. It's amazing that he was able to do what he was able to do. By the way, if you look at Liberty's 2010 football schedule(Ianello's first season), they beat Ball State in Muncie 27-23. They also beat Gardner-Webb that year 40-14. Since Liberty is in the same conference as Gardner-Webb and VMI, our last two FCS opponents, if Rocco doesn't come to Akron to be our head coach, I expect him to come here and coach on the visitor's sideline for the Flames pretty soon...

Lady Zips have scored 266 points in last 3 games. That's about 89 points a game. Think about it. If you think this is the same old same old stuff, then obviously you haven't put the time in to watch at least one game, and your assumptions are just based off the box score...

When are people going to get off this...some guy tweeted that Tressel is in the board of trustees meeting right now...If he is, he's there to talk about his reccomendations for the next coach probably...nothing big...

I always believed that there were too many things working against the situation for both parties to agree. I believe I wrote "I would be SHOCKED" if it was able to be worked out. okay..."the MAJORITY of us got caught in the hoopla"...Better?

just read that myself...I'm starting to look up coaching connections with Tressel while he was at UA possibly. Or just people he knows very well. I'm wondering if Tressel is trying to lure more than just a head coach here. Maybe some assistants too? This might sound bias since I've graduated from the same high school as this guy, but Jim Heacock did a great job in Columbus as Defensive Coordinator. possibly seeing him come up as an assistant with the right head coach...

Weren't you one with a "source in the athletic dept?" yeah...he seemed to be right most of the time. Sometimes the information is just wrong. He's not one of the higher ups in the department, he's one of those people that have to go get coffee for the "go get me coffee" type of people in the athletic department. So, I figured it wasn't just one of those things that someone higher than him made a joke of it...but apparently that happened, he fell for it, told me...OR he told me just to mess with me...not sure which one though.... Don't understand why people do this. You gain their trust, and when they tell you something and try to explain it, and then they joke about it, I seriously don't know how I can trust them again. Heck, I don't even know who on this board can trust ME anymore after I thought my friend was being serious...sorry to everyone about it...won't happen again...I'll just ignore him, and let everything happen when it happens...

I'm sorry, but to me this is not acceptable. If I was Coach Dambrot, I would suspend him indefinitely until he seems to be on page with what we expect here at Akron. But if he ever messes up one more time, whether it's late to a class or practice, he's booted off the team... This isn't Can't, and I'm not going to lower my standards for good basketball players. You want to play for Akron, then you better shape up. Not dealing with this stuff here.Don't want to change, then go east about 10-15 miles...

However, there was a lot of people out there that wanted to start a rumor, just to see how many people would say "I have a source that said... .... ..." , and then laugh about it with their other buddies that did it as well. Well, I hope those people are happy. Because that could of potentially scarred this football program even more by doing something like that. You now basically have people saying this when we get our new head coach, whoever it is: "It's not Jim Tressel, so why should I go to the game? We're still terrible..." I'm going to be behind our new head coach 100%, and I'm also going to feel sorry for him. He's going to have to deal with these shenanigans as well. Will not surprise me if attendance numbers were about the same from Ianello's first year...because this got too out of hand, and WILL have consequences...

A friend of mine told me late yesterday afternoon, that in all the midst of Tressel talk, he didn't talk about Tressel to me. He told me Winters was in the fieldhouse today(which was yesterday). I immediately told him it was probably someone else because he's preparing his team at Wayne State for their DII national quarterfinals game against Minnesota-Duluth this weekend...

But with people wondering about how we can afford Tressel? Well, with what I heard Akron is offering him, it certainly doesn't seem like a problem to them...
