  1. I thought the same as well, but she's back on the roster(At least in the prospectus she is back on the roster)
  2. WBB Costa Rica daily blog WBB Costa Rica trip Prospectus (includes roster) Biggest thing out of that was seeing Rachel Tecca did receive a redshirt last year. She will be a RS junior along with Luburgh, Young, King, Cassell, and Guyton(s JUCO transfer). Only seniors are Taylor Ruper and Katie Bubna...
  3. 3-0...because i see us going 2-1 at worst with my expectations...we finish 1-2 or 0-3, and we're not as good as we think we are...
  4. The one thing I did notice was that Coach Croft is already a better coach than Coach Pfau ever was here at Akron. If you ever saw a Coach Pfau team on game day, he wasn't really hands on. He never left his seat, unless he had something to say to an official. Coach Croft yesterday, was pacing up and down the sideline pointing, yelling, talking to players where they needed to be, and especially took time out to talk to players when they came out of the game to talk to them what they needed to do, and even saw him pointing and telling them where they needed to go or do what on the field. You have to also remember that Coach Croft has only been the interim head coach for about a month now, and he had even less time than that with the players. This team is just missing that killer instinct, and Coach Pfau never had that in my opinion. That's what Porter is so good at is getting the killer instinct out of his players. Majority of humans have the motivation/killer instinct towards something. It's just a matter of getting it out of them.Porter seems a great job of doing that, and that's why men's soccer program is at the level of what it is. Be interesting to see Coach Croft has in that department. Here's Coach Croft's twitter page. He seems very energetic and optimistic about the women's soccer program at Akron, by just looking at the tweets: Coach Croft's twitter page
  5. So would Linhart be a fair comparison to Forsythe?
  6. NCAA report
  7. Central Florida receives one year football and basketball postseason ban Scholarship reduction as well... Most likely not much impact against us this year, but this is a home and home, correct? Could make a little impact on the game next season...
  8. Not sure if it should go in this forum or the general discussion forum, but here's an article/phone interview of Terry Bowden's take on the Joe Paterno/Penn State scandal... Bowden's take on Penn State scandal EDIT: Bowden also touches on the Zips this upcoming season, and recruiting in Morgantown...
  9. Some people like it, and some don't like it. But it's not a bad choice for the area. Friend from Baltimore came in town, and never gone to Cici's before(never heard of it before). He tried cici's while in town, and loved it...people will give a pizza buffet a chance...
  10. CiCi's during happy hour would make a killing...it's a pizza buffet, with pasta, salad, and desserts...I feel it would do very well, and doesn't need to take much space up either...
  11. Compared to the other sports, Football gets the most advertisement; HANDS DOWN. That's what i meant "market to death". It also doesn't help that I have a few ideas, that I kind of just coordinated with football, and just combined it with what actually gets marketed. I made a mistake...shocking, i know ...especially at eight in the morning... What I mean they don't know where to go, they don't even know gozips.com exists...that's how bad marketing/advertising is...It is getting better, but it's still really bad... And they do know within minutes, they ask me. What's wrong with that? Other than them having to here me talk to them where they're wanting to sit, what their thoughts of it are, etc.
  12. I feel like he wanted this to be a "warning" towards the university and athletic department, that if you keep hyping up football that has only averaged a little over 1 win the past three seasons, and all I'm doing is getting us to the MAC Championship game every year giving us an opportunity to make it to the Big Dnace. Why should I stick around? It's really sad how it's treated. Football gets marketed to death, while I know for a fact that A LOT of my classmates I've had don't even know when the next basketball game is because they don't know where to look, or don't see any signs for it except for the big games, which are always advertised. The biggest thing that gets me is that why is the rec center closed during the football games? If you're making it closed during football games, you should close it for men's basketball, too. And then the can of worms open up...but it's already halfway open... I would be mad too if the place I coached at has better facilities for football who only has 1 or 2 wins a season, while I'm one of TWO programs in DI college basketball, that has the program in our conference championship game in six consecutive seasons. So you would think that I would be playing in a nice facility, right? Nope...playing in basically a high school gym... I have no problem to what Dambrot said as long as he made sure the players knew that he wasn't going to leave, and just said that stuff to give a warning out to the university/athletic department, that they need to start making this program one of their priorities. In scale of department's priority in athletic sports, it seems 1) Football, 2) Soccer, 3) Basketball. Dambrot could almost make an argument that Baseball is three over Basketball because they get to play at Canal Park which is equivalent to Infocision...
  13. And you don't have to really recruit out of this area. Baseball team in Portage County just showed that a roster of 27 guys from Ohio, and 7 guys from Western PA can make it to the College World Series...Just have to get the right mix of guys...so hopefully Coach Rembielak can do that here...
  14. women's sports killed us this year...here's the rundown: Football: Bad Guys W. Soccer: Bad Guys W. Cross County: Good Guys M. Cross Country: Bad Guys Volleyball: Split M. Basketball: Good Guys W. Basketball: Split M. Indoor Track & Field: Good Guys W. Indoor Track & Field: Bad Guys M. Golf: Bad Guys W. Golf: Bad Guys Baseball: TBD Softball: Good Guys M. Outdoor Track & Field: Good Guys W. Outdoor Track & Field: Bad Guys If you did it by gender, it's tied 3.0-3.0 with baseball remaining for male sports. Women's sports, it's 5.0-3.0 in favor of the bad guys...If Volleyball and Women's Basketball would not of split, and taken care of business, we would of been tied for women's sports at 4.0-4.0, and would of been tied 7.0-7.0 with baseball remaining to decide...and if WOMEN'S SOCCER, would of lived up to their expectations, and beat Can't, we would of won this damn thing...
  15. I can't remember if I posted this already on another forum or not, but here's an episode of Criminal Minds that the setting of the episode is in Akron, Ohio. Here it is:
  16. I hope it's not true...Just because i want Groce to get it...so he can take Cooper and everyone else with him too...
  17. They will..you have to remember, and i feel like im hitting my own dead horse about this, but we're one of the top 20 youngest teams in the NATION...out of the 320 DI college basketball schools...just saying.. This team against last year's Akron team wouldn't even be close. This year's team would blow them out...
  18. yeah...and if we forced it inside even if they weren't opened and turned the ball over, then we would be all still blaming Dambrot...seesh... People have to understand, it's so easy to turn the ball over there...just because Zeke is tallest player on court, doesn't mean the ball can get there...because the passer may not be able to see where the ball should be at because they're being guarded someone their size...it's easier to TV coach than to play in the game or coach on the sidelines...trust me on that...
  19. People do understand how much of a veteran team Northwestern is and how young we are, right? And they only beat us by two on their floor. We're not losing anyone really, except for Cvetinovic, who we'll miss in MAC regular season play, but not much when it comes to non-conference play. A lot of heartbreaker losses this year may be a good thing for this squad, other than the seniors obviously. Other than the Ohio, Middle Tennessee State, and West Virginia losses, were we blown out? I don't think so...This team will learn from those close losses. NCAA committee made a strong point that non-conference SOS is critical. With Creighton, Cleveland State, Middle Tennessee State, Marshall, Detroit(i think?), the Puerto Rico Tip-off(Akron, Xavier, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Penn State, Oklahoma State, Providence, and NC State), we should be able to pick up some quality non-conference wins, and maybe even add a couple to it still...
  20. Northwestern Message Board
  21. Not surprised about Toledo...they paid the WNIT to host the whole tournament basically...they won the WNIT without leaving Toledo...
  22. Figured to get this going...I am one of the posters that I will follow the Zips where ever they play in Postseason. I was beyond livid when The Zips didn't care when they had a home game against UW-Green Bay in CBI. I don't understand how players don't want to keep playing, even if it means not the NCAA tournament. You first started to play the game because you love it, and us fans follow the sport/team because we like or love the sport as well. IF anyone watched the Selection Show yesterday, it sounded like non-conference strength of schedule was a deciding factor for the selection committee. So, because of that, can't wait to see what our schedule would look like. Here's a start on that: Puerto Rico Tip-off Teams Akron Southern Miss Xavier Penn State Oklahoma State Tennessee Providence NC State It's not a bad field of teams. If we expect to be where we think we should be next year, we need to win this tournament or at least make it to the finals. We should be the crowd favorite with two players from Puerto Rico on our team next year...
  23. If you feel deprived of Cleveland this mid week due to new tournament format, You can come out and watch the Lady Zips at 2:30pm today in the 2nd round against Northern Illinois at the Q. They lost to NIU 72-66 earlier in year, and really should of won that game. Players know that, and want to get some revenge. If the Lady Zips win today, they'll play tomorrow at 2:30pm against #3 seed Toledo...
  24. I wonder if some MAC voters still can't get over the fact of what happened in Mount Pleasant a couple decades ago, and they would rather vote for any other coach in the MAC, than Dambrot...
