  1. 11th and 12th seeds are both going to Cleveland while Charlie Coles is not making it to Cleveland. When has that happened? Not at all...this is really a season of firsts in the MAC...let's hope it ends there for Buffalo...
  2. I think she might of meant two years ago. When the last game of season was at Akron, and it was a white out, on ESPN2, and we got embarrassed on our home floor in the 2nd half...
  3. This is a little off topic of the sport of basketball, but has to do with Bowling Green: Ay-Zigga-Zoomba.com site changes ownership
  4. Agreed..don't think we win that Miami(OH) quarterfinal game without his clutch plays near the end...
  5. I have an idea as well, but I'm with you. LEt him tell us if he wants to. I'll talk to you later Zach to see who you think this person is

  7. from the CBSsports.com article:
  8. JT tweeted this earlier today: "About to have breakfast w/ #Akron new head coach Terry Bowden and the AD. Gotta get the Zips going. Watch out MAC conference"
  9. really? Last time i checked, out of the six 2011 state champions, 4 of them were from NE Ohio. The year before, it was 3 of them.
  10. Just saw this about Jatavis Brown: "Brown is a very active, productive run stopper; uses his playing speed to beat blockers across the line of scrimmage and create havoc in the opponent's backfield. Has the height and athleticism for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition;" sounds like a better version of Wagner
  11. Out of 15 players that have signed so far today, 7 of them are from Ohio, 3 from Florida, 2 from Pennsylvania, 1 from Michigan, 1 from West Virginia, and 1 from New Jersey. More importantly, out of those 7 Ohio players, 5 of them are from Northeast Ohio...
  12. I would love to go to every single game as a student; however, I can't go to majority of the games. I coach basketball and majority of our games are on wednesdays and saturdays. So it's hard for me to catch any games usually...been able to catch a few, show up after halftime for a few after coming from practice, and so forth...but it's just hard...so in some cases, there are people that care, just can't make it due to other obligations... which is why i would guess that a Televised, weekday, game will get between 2-3K...
  13. What I thought was crucial tonight, was that Jones may of beaten Marshall around a bit, but when KD took Zeke out, in came Tree...Jones certainly had his problems against Treadwell tonight...hard for any post player to be mentally ready for two different types of post players...
  14. I'm taking it that whoever does the RPI didn't even bother putting NIU in their ranking?
  15. rematch is now on STO right now if no one has caught it yet...
  16. He's only a sophomore, but this article said we offered him a scholarship 4 games into this season. Other DI schools starting to get involved now as well. Let's hope we can steal one. Here's the article
  17. I'm not sure how much credit to put on this, but according to ASN, Wistrcill told the hockey team that they plan on making them from a club team to a scholarship team. ASN is the only place covering Akron hockey, so i figured they might of been told this by the hockey team on what Wistrcill said. If this is true, could we see an arena be built where it could be used for basketball and hockey? To be completely honest, I want to keep the JAR. It would be a great place to host volleyball matches, basketball practice, summer camps/shootouts that the basketball teams have(sure volleyball does too), and would create more jobs for the Akron area if they keep the JAR, and then build an arena for games..." look under "Other News"
  18. He does have an impact..might not be as big as some on here might think, but there is some. Zeke Marshall said that LeBron being around the JAR in the NBA offseason was a factor on him coming here. Same with others...may not be a big factor in them coming here, but if they have a choice between two schools and they are very similar, but one has an NBA superstar that comes back a few times in offseason, while the other one doesn't, it could be an impact...
  19. At this point, I'll pull out a Bill Cowher quote... "SO WHAT IF WE WON UGLY?" Even though I wouldn't be happy about it, but I would take a 27-26 win...because a win is a win...especially in the MAC East this year...
  20. Obviously, with Rachel Tecca out, this team is not the same offensively. The worst part about it is they didn't work on defense that much so far this year, because Coach Kest wanted to play an up-tempo game and had to put a lot of that in before the first game, when defense would normally be worked on. Here's what the first round of games results: Bowling Green 76, Can't State 57 Ohio 73, Buffalo 64 Miami(OH) 95, Akron 85 Central Michigan 86, Northern Illinois 67 Ball State 54, Eastern Michigan 51 Western Michigan 70, Toledo 67
  21. Terry Bowden to Akron Some of them bring up good points, and others are well....yeah, not so much...I wonder if equins has a yappi account... Anyways, I think page 5, post #137 brings up that he's hearing a strong rumor of Tommy Bowden potentially being asked to join the Zips' staff... It also amazes me the lovefest of YSU fans that are on there... Basically, the reason i posted this topic, was to show you that Bowden has gained steam at places that weren't touch 2-4 years ago here as a football program...and that's the local social media whether it's message boards, forums, blogs, newspapers, facebook, twitter, etc. Can't wait to show those YSU fans who the best in NE Ohio will be (and YSU)
  22. agreed...but I think that might be a given with how our division in MAC has turned out in the re-alignment...
  23. I think it's clear that Bowden might be the guy to awake the sleeping giant of our football program here....Don't want to get ahead of myself here, but this could very well be the start of us being the Boise State of the East....
  24. Do we still have film from Brookhart's last season? If so, wouldn't it be beneficial for Coach Bowden to see how Nicely did in the games his freshmen year. To be honest, I think that many posters on here, had higher expectations for Nicely in his sophomore year, because how he played in MAC play his freshmen year. Then a different system entirely from what Nicely was used to freshmen year with Brookhart, and before he was at Willoughby South. I wouldn't rule out any of the three quite yet...but wouldn't surprise me if one of the three are gone by the spring game...
