  1. I got to mark another brewery off my list Wednesday night: Pretty nice little bar with a big picture window to see into the manufacturing facility. I must say the food was fantastic. All those in our party were impressed with the food selection. Beer-wise, I was a little underwhelmed. I did not have any of their flagship beers since I have already enjoyed them out of the bottle (This may have been an unwise choice). I tried some pub-exclusive drafts instead: Boom Over Pow ESB, Yum Yum Pale Ale, Snow Weasel Porter, Hank on Rye Smoked Ale & Cimmerian Sabertooth Berzerker Imperial IPA. As my friend ZipGrad01 pointed out, it goes to show how spoiled we are in NE Ohio when you can visit a "World-Class" craft beer mecca and leave feeling a little let down. Hoppin' Frog blows FFF away.
  2. Someone has football fever.
  3. I appreciate the confidence that many people have in the Zips & their quest to upset the Nits, but I just don't see it happening for one reason: Christian Hackenberg. If PSU had one of the average QBs of their past, I might buy into the upset. Hopefully I am wrong. As far as the Lindy's preview, I agree that the Zips have a pretty weak MAC schedule & I do believe the east comes down to BG and the Zips. Hopefully they pull off the upset with the Falcons & I will see you in Detroit. I do not agree with the All-MAC prediction. JB53 is the best LB in the league. Also think that NC11 shows up on an All-MAC team as well.
  4. Balsy, I agree there is no team as good as the 2013 Knights on this year's schedule, but I think Penn State is better than Michigan and I think Marshall is better than Louisiana. Going to Pitt and winning is not going to be easy, new QB or not. I think the NC schedule is very difficult. Too difficult.
  5. Here is a very early prediction for the rest of the MAC East
  6. It motivated me.
  7. Find solace in Hollis. And Grice is pretty nice. I like Horner on the corner. Pittman? He ain't a gonna take no shit, man. And be happy cuz we got Capi.
  8. Absolutely correct. Having your football coaches poached by bigger programs is a given for MAC schools. Happens all the time. Except for the Zips. We have never had enough gridiron success for any larger program to want to poach any of our coaches. All of the D1 Akron coaching changes have been as a result of the incumbent being fired. Listen to Skip. Enjoy the ride for as long as Terry stays. He has done a great job and has retained almost all of the staff he arrived with. These are good times to be a Zip.
  9. Skip, I was going to say quarter, but I thought, "Nah, that's too good to be true". I thought maybe I was exaggerating the good old days in my mind like my Dad used to. I got that mug in '86, so I am now sure it was a quarter and it was definitely draft Blatz. Good times.
  10. Skip, I remember all three but I am not that old. I remember having a cloudy plastic 12 ounce mug from The Townhouse that after the inital purchase could be filled with Blatz for 50 cents on Tuesday nights. Does anyone else remember this? My facts might not be all straight but I vividly remember the mug with the Blatz logo on it. I have no idea what happened to it. I also remember having a yellow painter's cap with cardboard bill that had the old cartoon zippy on it. It probably came from RHBP for freshman orientation or something. Crossing Buchtel Ave. could be a real challenge. So could navagating the chain draped between posts that lined the edge of Lee Jackson Field. I witnessed many a young Zip wipe out on the chain after crossing Exchange Street following a night out at Thursday's.
  11. Um, maybe you haven't heard but Akron is going to either the ACC or SEC.
  12. Not sure, Dave. His twitter feed mentioned "official visit". Not sure if that meant an offical visit to a prospective institution. I was under the impression that once you were a graduate and released, you could visit anyplace you like. Didn't Russell Wilson make visits to Auburn and Wisconsin before making his decision? Something Coach Bowden said made me believe that graduate transfer guys couldn't do that. Perhaps he meant graduate transfers that hadn't acquired their release yet?
  13. I recieved my Z-Fund Priority Points packet in the mail today, which informed me of my total Priority Points and my current ranking among 9679 donors. Anyone else stunned at their ranking?
  14. Anyone know if Shaquille visited Saturday?
  15. Oh no! You mean the 2012 was a fluke after all and the Flashes are going to reassume their proper position in the football universe?
  16. USA Today is several teams into its 2014 College Football Countdown and Can't comes in at #107. Just wanted to post this because it foreshadows the Zips a little bit. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/05/12/Can't-state-golden-flashes-mac-2014-countdown-preview-roster-schedule-football-four/8972095/
  17. I am with you. KD should ixnay the inkeringtay.
  18. Do you think they will put us in the SEC East or West?
  19. Tress will have them poised to take the Zips spot when we head for the ACC.
  20. Believe it or not, I have been sleeping well.
  21. Would the Anti-Tressel contingent please get off. We have another faction waiting to get on.
  22. Riddick/Capi combo could spell trouble for MAC quarterbacks. CBS Sports has him ranked as the 12th best NFL prospect at DE entering his senior year. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2015/DE
