  1. Wow. My phone just went wild. I was trying to respond to B&G's question. Pittman played primarily at the left end spot today, but played some tackle as well.
  2. As always, JZ84 is spot-on in his analysis. I will also add that Mizell appears to be trimmer as well. The defense has some swagger. They look confident and really pursue intensely. The defensive line got consistent pressure all day and the linebackers are All-MAC. Secondary looked solid. Offense struggled to consistently move the ball. I missed the first bomb to LT but saw the second one. Nice. I am hoping they just need some time to gel.
  3. Skip, as far as I can tell, Eastern New Mexico women compete as the Zias. That is it. The men are the Greyhounds. So yes the Z Is very unique.
  4. Y'all can wish the best of all possible wishes for Ohio's coaching search if you want to, but not me. I wish years of woe upon their program. Their fan base needs a slice of humble pie.
  5. Well, Mr. Kangaroo. I am glad you can make light of the pressing concern with uniform fonts, but some of us take design elements a little more seriously than you do. We have a golden opportunity here to be the first MAC football team to unveil new unis that don't blow.It is important to get it right. Thank you and good day.
  6. We absolutely need to keep the propriatary Akron font and not some generic crap. Very few schools have their own font. I thought it was a big mistake for UCLA to move away from their traditional numbers to a generic, although I think they still use the old school numbers periodically.
  7. I have found this to be my favorite offering from New Belgium.
  8. I think right after they changed them to grey and white and then black and white. I think eventually they might cycle back around to blue and gold, though. I hear what you are saying. I hope the people making the uniform decisions wake up and make the colors the right hues of blue and gold and keep the "Akron" font.
  9. Checked one off my bucket list last Thursday when I visited Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, FL. I got two flights and tried some really good stuff. First amazing beer was a Brown Ale called Blueberry Pancake. I know it doesn't sound good, but it was amazing. The Jai Alai Cedar Aged IPA from the Humidor series was on point as well. I was one week early for the release of Puppy Breath Porter which was kind of a bummer, but it was a really fun visit overall and I made friends with a guy sitting next to me from Dayton who is opening a bottle shop. Good Times. I also visited a couple of World of Beer locations while on vacation and tried some dandies. Full of Balarney was an Irish Stout on Nitro from Athens, GA's Terrapin. Killer. I also had 3 European Baltic Porters that rocked. The first was from Finland. The second was from Iceland. The third was from Poland. If you like the style and can score any of these, do it.
  10. I am still pinching myself that we traded Ianello for Bowden. How incredibly fortunate are we? When Terry got here the Zips were the worst program in the country. Not one of the worst, THE WORST. The turnaround is already impressive and he has really just begun. I have thought about what he said at the VCU game so many times. "When i say winnin', I mean winnin'!" Good things are coming. I hope Balsy and ZipGrad01 are right and he is here to stay.
  11. Thanks, B&G! I only have one small complaint about the new unis. I wish the numbers would stay with the current font. Other than that, I like them.
  12. I'm betting this kid does not know the words to the alma mater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFmYkoVS9dY
  13. We are going to have to play better defense in the ACC.
  14. Looks like the face mask is chrome too. Bling bling.
  15. Name 'em.
  16. Shaka Schmaka.
  17. Akron to the ACC. You heard it here first.
  18. FIFY.
  19. UAB FAU FIU Marshall MTSU Southern Mississippi Louisiana Tech North Texas Rice UT UTSA Old Dominion UNC Charlotte This would be the C-USA lineup the Zips would join. This list of schools does not move the needle for me. You?
  20. Let's just get down to it. What conferences do you think the Zips should aspire to join? Would any of these conferences want the Zips? Can't wait to see your answers.
  21. Yes. That's why I would like to put the topic of switching conferences to bed. For good.
  22. Totally agree. UA should have made a plan 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity has passed. It would have been fantastic if Akron could have been a part of the old Big East, if the league could have continued on with stable membership as it existed when Cincinnati joined, but that's not what happened. Ask a Cincinnati fan if the AAC is a good conference to be in now. I am not trying to be a naysayer, but the MAC is the best option for the Zips if we are going to continue playing football. Scrap football and then we can look for a better conference to park basketball, but that will be a worse place for all the other sports. Perhaps I see things the way I do because I love football first. I like to be able to travel and tailgate at the MAC stadiums. It's convenient. If I looked at conference affiliation through a basketball first lens I might feel differently, I suppose.
  23. There is a reason Boise and San Diego State rethought jumping conferences and stayed put in the MW. The AQ status that the Big East enjoyed is a relic of the past and when the Catholic basketball schools left, the conference morphed into the old C-USA. Fact. And don't kid yourself, the old C-USA was never a big boy conference. The power 5 successfully stripped the Big East of every football asset they had, forcing the Catholic schools hands, rendering the AAC irrelevant.
  24. If by "Big Six" conferences you mean SEC, PAC12, BIG12, ACC, BIG10 & AAC, I will say this: Akron has no chance of ever being considered for 5 of these conferences and no one associated with any of those 5 considers the sixth as a "big" conference. Just sayin'.
