I will go first. After the game Saturday, a group of us went down to Lockview on Main Street. I really liked it. Their specialty is grilled cheese (13 varieties). I had the daily special which was a roast beef sandwich and a cup of chili with the works. Both good. Pretty nice beer selection, focusing mainly on bottles, of over 100 choices. I was able to sample a Brew Kettle Black Rajah that I had been wanting to try for a while, now. Good music on the box, mostly 80's tunes & a nice over all experience. I will be back. http://thelockview.com/
I figured since we already had "The Beer Thread", we might as well start one for food too. We can use this for suggesting restaurants/food stores to try/avoid. I think this forum would be great not just for Akron area establishments, but for all of NEO and beyond. What do you think?
I am anxious to see Moore & Lane (assuming their grades are in order). I have wondered the same thing as Balsy and B&G, if these 2 could play DE. The couple of times I saw them on the field last summer caught my attention not so much because of their play, but because they both looked so good in pads. Tall with broad shoulders. You know, like football players.
Nice article. Thanks for sharing, Zach. I can't wait to see this year's edition on the field either, Balsy. The depth at linebacker blows my mind. Brown, March, Mizell, Rossi, Evans, Lane, Moore & Williams. Wow.
For those of you who love to drink beer and have a smart phone, I would suggest downloading the untappd app. I joined up some months back and have been having fun with it. The more friends you have, the more fun it could be, but at the very least it is a great tracker for your beer consumption. http://baltimorepostexaminer.com/untappdgamification-of-beer/2013/04/26 http://www.untappd.com
One of the reasons could be because he was wearing #1. When Coach Bowden got here, Nick Rossi was wearing #1. When the number shuffling ended that spring, nobody was wearing the number and I seem to remember some conversation about who "deserves" to wear that number. Didn't Coach say that the guy wearing #1 needs to be the guy everyone is looking at to make the big play at any time or something like that? (I am too lazy to look it up.) I think he mentioned that Dri Archer was a guy that was worthy of wearing that number. I think when Zips fans saw that MTB was wearing the number along with some of hisTwitter quotes and that he was a former Cincinnati commit and what-not, we may have anticipated that he was going to be a much bigger impact player than he turned out to be. Just a guess.
Elton's opinion means less than zero.

These links come from less than 5 minutes of trying.
A small group of us went down to Thirsty Dog after the game Saturday. They had BA Siberian Night and BA Wulver on tap. Good Times. Check it out sometime if you haven't already.
It's been a long time since 1976 and I am sure a lot of Pitt fans have been longing for a return to relevance for a long time. I think they are probably going in the right direction after the dumpster fire depths the program sunk to after the firing of Wannstedt. I don't see anything offensive in the article at all. Because they play in the weak ACC with a lot of conference foes that don't move the needle at all they need to find a way to schedule non-conference home games versus opponents that entice fans to come to the stadium. They are in a pickle because they have little chance of beating most interesting foes.
Good realistic piece if you ask me. If Akron was in the same position we would all be commenting on it by saying amen.
Truth is, Akron is a cupcake and until Akron rises up and beats someone they "shouldn't" beat, they will continue to wear the cupcake label. We've earned the tag folks. I don't know why we get so upset about it sometimes. We have been playing Division I football since my freshman year and after all that time we have never had enough success for one head coach to ever leave for a better job. Every one was fired. Think about that for a minute.
What is important to me is that Coach Bowden is leading the Zips out of the bottom of the D-1 barrel. Hopefully he will get the program to the point where we can be legitimately pissed off about being marginalized in an article on a biased fan website. Until then, we are what they think we are.
It ain't easy being a Zips fan.
