  1. I have and will continue to root for Can't State To lose Every game In every sport Until the end of time.
  2. +1 Sign me up for the threefer. Does anybody know how Rifle calculates attendance? Tickets sold or butts in seats?
  3. Zesty, Let me get this straight... You are a so-called Akron Zips fan... On the Akron Zips fans message board... Engaging in back & forth, arguing on behalf of Can't State University? Would it be wrong of me to consider nominating you for
  4. I heard that! Akron doesn't even offer fashion as a major!
  5. Thank you very much for the reports from those of us who missed the interview. I hope new recruits are as impressed with Coach Bowden as I have been so far.
  6. So, Karl Bostick is taking his talents to Elon... Losing depth is never a good thing, but I am going to go way out on a limb here and say that Karl's departure plus Carlton Thomas' arrival equals net gain for the Zips. (If Hilltopper's little birdie turns out to be right)
  7. I stopped by Lizardville in Bedford Heights on Saturday. I saw on their website that they had 3 Floyds Gumballhead on tap, so since I was in the area, I had to stop. It was a terrible mistake. An error. A false post made on their website. THEY HAD NO SUCH BEER ON TAP! I was saddened, but continued to peruse the shelves of beer. I was trying a really different Coffee Stout from a Wisconsin Brewery called Hinterland when one of the bartenders came up behind me and set in front of me the last bottle of 3 Floyds Blackheart Seasonal English IPA. Needless to say, the bomber went home with me. I'm not a huge IPA fan, but this one was delicious. Very balanced for an IPA. Aged on toasted oak. I wish Akronnnnnnnn was here to try it with me! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/41716

  9. I assume he will be utilizing the Jeremiah Massoli/Russell Wilson/Danny O'Brien method to play immediately.
  10. I wasn't looking at the mobile site, but I apologize. I shouldn't have said template. I should have said designer or something. Template was the wrong term.
  11. I just checked out the official website at www.lakeeriestorm.com and they use the same terrible template as gozips.com. Cool.
  12. I thought that was a pretty damning piece of evidence that this commentator may not have a great deal of knowledge about his subject matter.
  13. Here is a sterling example of the impeccable research some of these pre season previews contain... Opposing Views
  14. Ohio ranked #31 pre-season? www.philsteele.com
  15. That is true. Only a handful of schools (I would guess about a dozen) could afford to pay all their athletes. So, if "pay for play" happens, non-revenue generating schools from the power conferences would have to be subsidized, operate at an even deeper level of red, or not pay, which would create an even wider split between the haves and the have-nots. Everything revolves around the bluebloods maintaining their supreme position.
  16. Right on, Johnny. You know it was just about a year ago when it looked like the Big XII was in a perilous position with the rumor that Oklahoma, OK State, Texas & TTech were headed for the PAC. If that had happened, most pundits were speculating that Kansas and their storied BB program would be left out of a BCS conference. (I figured the Big East would have invited them if it came down to that, but whatever.) Now that the Big XII has solidified its situation, attention has turned to the ACC. The football schools in that conference can get a better payday in the SEC, XII, or B1G. If the ACC is raided, it's not looking too good for tobacco road. They are now have something to worry about like Kansas did. Same would be said for schools like Indiana & Kentucky if their conferences were unstable. Interesting stuff.
  17. I have never seen Pliny the Younger (or the Elder) available for purchase, but would love to try either. I thought I might be able to enjoy one at World of Beer, but no luck. The bartender said those 2 beers are on their most wanted list, but they haven't been able to stock either one. I saw some people at the Cleveland Beer Fest wearing PtY t-shirts, but Russian River Brewery was not there. Again,
  18. Some interesting facts and figures in this Toledo Blade story.
  19. I went to the Friday session. I was disappointed that there weren't more U.S. craft brewers there. Only about half the exhibitors were in that category. 3 Floyds was a no-show. The Ohio contingent was strong, though with a lot of solid brews. At the top of my list was Willoughby Brewing's Peanut Butter Cup Coffee Porter. Mind blown.
  20. The discussions between soccer fans and non-fans remind me of discussions between believers and atheists. All 4 groups know they are right and nothing is going to change their beliefs.
  21. Anybody planning on going?
  22. Although I hated to miss the spring game, I had a really nice beer trek while on vacation in Florida. First place I went was Total Wine and they had an unbelieveable selection of singles, which I promptly made 3 sixers from. I was a little disappointed there weren't more Florida brews available, but there were quite a few labels I have never seen in Ohio, so it was nice. This store is huge. Picture a supermarket full of wine and beer, ONLY. Pretty cool. The second place I was lucky enough to visit was Mr. Beery's "a craft beer bar". I took advantage of the Monday Happy Hour Special. 3-8 P.M. All you can drink unlimited drafts for 10 bucks. Amazing! The third place was World of Beer. I wish I could have spent more time here, as it was a great experience. The bartenders are more like your own personal beer consultants. They ask a lot of questions and make suggestions. They advertised over 500 kinds of bottled beer. I didn't count them, but they did have a lot. I also got to sample some other various treats at restaurants, but these were the big 3 experiences. Now for the list from worst to first...(with the beer advocate links if any sound interesting) "Would not try again." Holy Mackerel Mack in Black Widmer Brothers Pitch Black IPA Blue Point Blueberry Ale Leavenworth Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen Full Sail Session Black Lager Fort Collins Chocolate Stout Ballast Point Barmy Ale Brooklyn Mary's Maple Porter "Solid. Would have another." Spaten Dunkel Anchor Bock Ballast Point Reef Rye Brown Red Brick Laughing Skull Amber Clown Shoes Lubrication American Black Ale Belfast Bay McGovern's Oatmeal Stout Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout Terrapin Rye Pale Ale Bell's Hell Hath No Fury Dubbel Kona Koko Brown Young's Double Chocolate Stout Mad River Serious Madness Black Ale St. Peter's Cream Stout Cigar City Cubano Style Expresso Brown Ipswich Original Ale Coronado Idiot IPA Highland Black Mocha Stout Cigar City Ligero Black Lager Blue Point Hoptical Illusion IPA Terrapin Hopsecutioner IPA Oskar Blues Old Chub Scotch Ale Terrapin Moo-Hoo Milk Stout "Deeeeeeeee-licious!" Red Brick Porter Ballast Point Sculpin IPA Cigar City Jai Alai IPA Cigar City Maduro Brown I am sure some of these may be available in Ohio, but all were new tries for me. Cigar City is in Tampa and was the most widely available craft beer where I was in Sarasota. I was told to avoid the Sarasota Brewing pub, so I skipped that. The one thing I was looking the most forward to finding was The Funky Buddah's Maple Bacon Porter, but they didn't distribute to the Gulf Coast.
  23. Same here. Why it makes such a difference to people whether or not they can drink beer inside the gate puzzles me. I have been trying to lure people to the games through the FANTASTIC food and beverage available at the tailgate and been largely unsuccessful. Now people are interested in coming because they can drink a Budweiser in their seat? Makes no sense to me, but if it draws people in, great.
  24. I also heard they will be offering something called "The Green Demon" at the Chick Fil-A concession stand.
  25. I hear there will be Thirsty Dog, Hoppin Frog & Ohio Brewing on tap!
