Make out of it what you will. The Zips just need to stop laying eggs on national television. Last night sucked, no doubt about it. Time to move on and not dwell on it. It's not like the season is ruined now. There is a lot left to be decided. Let's not make make Steve French right about the negativity.

Absolutely! Granted, the team had many weaknesses last year but the QB play was nearly unwatchable. I'll bet Coach Bowden finds a playmaker out of the bunch and that by itself will make the Zips a very much improved team in '12. I cannot wait to see who emerges.

You got your Big East, your Big XII and your Big Ten...maybe the MAC just needs to rebrand with Big in the title...

Sorry. I had forgotten about WVU beating Oklahoma. Red face. But my point was that BE seems like the promised land to a lot of Zips fans, but really doesn't garner a lot of respect in CFB fandom as a whole. Maybe I will just be quiet now.

Sadly, I think the overwhelming perception is that the Big East champion has zero chance of winning the big prize. It is a much maligned conference by fans of the other 5 AQ leagues. West Virginia's beatdown of Clemson was the Big East's first BCS win since Louisville beat Wake Forest. Just sayin.

A lot of posters on this board have gone above and beyond in support of Zips Athletics. I salute them. They are not the problem. There is no magic bullet for the attendance issues. Even if Akron joined the Big East, it would not ensure a sold-out Info. The Zips need to win and win in an entertaining fashion. That is beyond the control of any fan. What fans can control is how much they are willing to contribute to the festive atmosphere in the stands and in the parking lots. There are way too many sticks in the mud. Just my observation. At many highly attended sporting events, its just as much about the party as it is about the game or match or race. A happy medium would be optimal. Unfortunately, we haven't had much to brag about on the field or at the party. I will continue to support the Zips, but I am not going to set myself up for a big disappointment when the Info is empty again this fall. I am cautiously optimistic. That being said, the irrational exuberance of NZF and others is refreshing. Like I said before, hopefully you brought about 20,000 fans with you!

If the home opener sells out I will be shocked, but very happy. NZF, did you bring 25,000 Bowden Backers with you when you moved north? I think the coaching change will bring back a certain percentage of fans that had given up at the end of JD's tenure through the RI debacle, but I don't forsee a huge number of new fans coming out if the NEO woodwork. I certainly appreciate NZF's enthusiasm and wow, would it be great if he was right.

Sometimes you try a highly respected beer and it's just not your cup of tea. Akronnnnnn had that experience with Taddy Porter and I just experienced the same thing with Ommegang BPA. Not that was terrible, just didn't do it for me. On the other hand, I was able to sample 2 offerings from Pennsylvania Brewing that were FANTASTIC. I had 2 of their Christmas offerings: Nut Roll Ale & St. Nickolaus Bock. Delicious. Highly Recommend. Penn Brewery

Something along the lines of what ZW suggests would actually start to make some sense. Replacing the departing Memphis in the depleted remnant of C-USA would not. In my opinion. Blind hatred for the MAC may make it seem like C-USA is a big step up. However, if you look closer at the reasons why you are dissatisfied with the MAC, you may discover that C-USA would actually present the same list of dissatisfiers only at a larger budget and footprint. At least that's what I have concluded, but I realize I am in a small minority that actually (for the most part) likes the conference we are in now. Like the rest of you, I want the University to live up to its maximum potential. Assuming that the BCS sticks with the notion of AQ conferences, inclusion into one of those is the real goal. Joining a cherry picked C-USA won't get the Zips any closer to that goal. Building a powerhouse football program will. Even if it competes in the MAC.
