Akron is in Ohio. This is true. I don't think we need the outline of the state on anything. It's silly to me. Of what benefit is state branding? Who would care about it? Do you really think the residents of Illinois really give two squirts about the shape of the state being on NIUs field? Will one more person attend a game because of it? Will one more athlete commit to the program because of it? Will one more student enroll because of it? It is nothing but "me too" nonsense to me. I don't know. Like I said, I don't get it. Do you think the Browns could gain an advantage over the Bengals if they would put the outline of the state on their field? Not trying to be an asshole, but it really turns me off.

With practices closed and the almost complete lack of information about what's going on in camp, I am dying to see the 2015 Zips on the field. Who are you most curious to see this year? Before last Sunday, I would have voted for Jamal Marcus but after seeing Rodney Coe in the flesh, I want to see this guy wreak havoc. The most entertaining player will probably be The Hit Man (again) but he is a known quantity and we all fully expect him to be a Holy Terror in his Senior year. What say you?

The Zips showed up to play last year, no doubt about it, but you are living in la la land if you don't expect Pittsburgh to be ready to play this year. This game makes me nervous as hell.

While the win at Pitt last year was a great feel good victory for the Zips, it was made possible, in part, by an absolutely awful offensive game plan by Paul Chryst. I doubt if Pat Narduzzi will make the same mistakes this year.

LeBron should have leveraged his return to the Cavaliers with ownership options. That way he could eventually get a downtown arena built, move the Cavaliers to Akron and the Zips could do what the Vikings are doing. You could even work out a licensing deal with Marvel and rename the team the Avengers and run dynamite promotions for the youngsters all the time. Akron has a nice ring to it. LBJ always said he wanted to put Akron on the map. . . (I hope there are some realistic scenarios to get the Zips into a new arena, but a lot of times I really doubt it)
