  1. "Read one (receiver), then run,'' If we are running the zone read option shouldn't the quote be: "Read one (defender), then (hand off) run (or pass)''?????
  2. LZip, As long as established and rumored mean the same thing, I agree with you.
  3. No comments on Zach's link? Bowden's comment "read one, then run" certainly sounds like they have installed the read option spread. This will be a huge fundamental change. I wonder if it's modeled after the Gus Malzahn, Rich Rod or Chip Kelly offense? I also wonder if it is based off one of these, will it bear a closer resemblance to the original than the last offense did to the Mike Leach O? Also, I'm no big EA fan, but I am a big believer in giving credit where it's due. "Bowden and Co. acted like their biggest triumph of the season, 21-10 on the road over Pitt, was a fluke, instead of a template for success." Mr. Alexander succinctly nailed it with that sentence.
  4. Astute analysis, CK. For the last 6 years, there are only 2 positions that we can say Akron has recruited well (with a straight face) and one of these is almost solely driven by transfers. LB & DL. As you say, that's the facts. P.S. When does the tailgate start Saturday?
  5. Donnell Alexander, a transfer from Colorado State, got in some work this week and was a full go in the scrimmage. On first impression, he’s more slasher than game-breaker and looks to be the kind of back that needs to get carries to get into a rhythm. “He gives us another back that has some good inside running at 215-220 [pounds],” Bowden said, “but he has to practice hard and go a lot. He’s just in the hunt. It’s not magically you look at him and he’s at a whole different level.” That doesn’t mean he won’t challenge for playing time. He’ll have to show more in upcoming week’s limited practice schedule and in the fall.
  6. Sometimes you have to do that to cover your tracks after venting a response to a post so stupid that it gives you Forrest Whitaker eye.

  8. Quarterbacks receive too much credit when things are going well and shoulder too much blame when they aren't. Say whatever you want about Kyle Pohl but there are a couple of factors we might want to consider. Kyle is not the type of playmaker qb that can make something out of nothing and put the team on his back. Those types of quarterbacks are few and far between. KP16 would look much better with a receiving corps that could 1) get open and 2) catch the ball. The lack of a run game has also a glaring weakness. We have suffered through two years of patiently waiting for Jawon ACAAC Chisholm to finally break through and be the 1400 yard runner he had the talent to become. Never happened. Our opinion of Kyle would be much more favorable had he gotten some support. Unless some receivers step up and a running game is established, any qb on this roster is going to struggle in 2015.
  9. Refrain was a word that always puzzled me as a child. It meant stop all week long until Sunday morning and then it meant "sing it again".
  10. When attempting to brush off someone poking fun at your spelling, you might want to capitalize his last name. Just sayin'. You really need to lighten up and get a sense of humor.
  11. I'm sure he has learned and grown as a coach since his Kansas experience.
  12. I've heard the Noah rumor quite a few times. Where is this coming from? Anybody know?
  13. http://www.foxsports.com/ohio/story/bowling-green-head-coach-chris-jans-fired-040215 Ever been to the bars in BG? I would sue the school for wrongful termination using the "When In Rome" defense.
  14. Just as long as the compromise is flued, you'll be alright.
  15. I wonder how long we have to wait until the details come out and if the details will have any Mike Price-type entertainment value.
  16. Yep. He was one of my favorites too.
  17. What about this BS?
  18. I think the gold helmets saved us.

  20. April fools!
  21. https://westernmichigan.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1752435 Just a short article about Fleck's recruiting successes. Pretty impressive. If Fleck sticks around for a couple more seasons, recruiting at this level, Western's roster is going to be unbelievably stacked. Of course, they still must win on the field, but I bet Toledo and Northern are getting a little uncomfortable by now.
  22. What a letdown. It's been over a year since we heard about the move to the ACC. I was hoping Keith was going to talk about that.
