I'd use it as leverage to get a new arena built. Only problem is that Duquesne's arena is actually worse than the JAR. Imagine going from recruiting against Kent State, to recruiting against Pitt and RMU. Two teams that are much more talented and have better facilities than Duq. Good luck with that.

It worries me that this was tweeted before he actually met with them. And why meet with them AGAIN unless you are interested in the job. It looked bad a few years ago when he met with them, and it looks even worse now.

I've disliked Houston ever since Mack Rhoades left Akron to be their AD. So it does feel good to beat them. Even NIT wins will get people's attention and help recruiting. Hopefully things fall into place and they can get some more. Still sucks that every bracket I fill out feels like a punch in the gut.

Kent's energy level is high right now...Akron seems like they're sleepwalking

I was actually really impressed with Ball State's movement. It gave them a lot of good looks from 3, and was really the only thing that kept them in the game. Seemed like the Zips spent a little too much time standing around and waiting for the ball to come to them.

Typical Zips. Just when I start to believe this team is different they lay another egg.

Part of me always wonders what would happen if some of these coaches never left. What would the MAC look like with PJ Fleck, Nick Saban, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, Darrell Hazell, etc. Would any of those schools ever amount to a TCU or Boise State? Would the MAC ever become a powerful conference? Probably not.

I feel like the football team's uniforms get better every season, and the basketball team's get worse. Our school colors are blue and gold. Not blue, silver and black. Why does the kangaroo head just randomly get cut off below the eyes? The University seal is ugly.

5-7. This team has already given up on the season.

Eastern Michigan, Kent and even Georgia Southern played WMU tougher than Akron did. It's embarrassing to get blown out by good MAC teams, let alone mediocre/bad ones like Toledo and Buffalo. Bowling Green only has 1 win all year and I wouldn't be shocked if we lost.

I'm thinking the Zips will go 7-4 heading into MAC play. Probably have losses to Creighton, Gonzaga and UCI. Then, add in one of those typical Zips head-scratching losses like Green Bay last season.

Is it possible to buy tickets for the student section? If you try to buy online, those sections are always grayed out. Not questioning what they said. Just seems odd that they could sell out a section they never sell tickets for.

They definitely seem to be pushing this game more than others. I just wonder how strong word of mouth is right now. When I was a student it seemed like the word of mouth was the strongest marketing tool. Everyone always talked about the next soccer game and we knew it was the place to be that night. No one ever used excuses of weather or timing. You scheduled around the games. Football never had that feel and sadly basketball didn't either. Maybe when Kent or OU came to town, but that's it.

Well I think there are a total of 42 seating sections at InfoCision. That's not including those club boxes. Maybe they sold out 5 of them? lol Either way 5-6 sections full seems normal.

I just don't get it. What the heck are people doing? This is a Division 1 FBS team (coming off a bowl win) with a winning record this season and people in Akron can't show up? It's embarrassing.

Welp. Jojo looks like he seriously injured his shoulder. Maybe broken collar bone or dislocated? Hate to say it, but a better throw and that never happens. Chapman seems to be overthrowing everyone all day.

Hate to say it, but a sore Woodson is a better option than Chapman. He was brutal to watch against Kent State.
