Step up defense.

Marshall is looking good to start the second half. Wouldn't be surprised if this game is close before we know it.

The cheap crap on Brown still has me heated. Most likey he's out for the rest of the game if not more. Yet Marshall's center can keep playing. Zips need to keep the momentum going and run away with this..

I'm so sick of hearing about Wisconsin and Houston. ESPN is acting like these two teams are headed straight for the National Championship after week 1.

He was 100% right about the zone coverage though. The Zips weren't getting to the outside and kept running into each other.

VMI's coach must have been mad about the Zips throwing deep late. To be honest they didn't even deserve to be in the game. If you don't want Akron to score, stop them. Usually I'm the most negative person after a game like this. I still think the Zips will lose next week. But, I really hope it was the coaching staff trying to hide something. Obviously the penalties were the main reason VMI was still in the game in the 3rd. But the lack of adjustments only makes me think they were holding back. I mean Jerod Cherry was basically begging the Zips to switch to a zone defense after they kept getting beat.

I was thinking the same thing. From other pictures I've seen it looks like he barely missed the scoreboard. Must have been asleep at the wheel, excessively drunk or old. I hate to say it but some old people scare me more than drunks. Unfortunate that it did so much damage to the fences at the stadium.

Adidas has always had a weird texture on their "stretchy" jerseys. The previous style looked even more like tire threads.

The Zips need to get rid of anything that includes black or silver. Stick with our school colors.

At least one MAC school cares about improving themselves. Even though it's a long shot, at least they are showing they are sick of a mediocre conference.

Apparently the Big12 is talking with 17 schools about expansion. ESPN mentioned: Cincinnati, Houston, BYU, South Florida, UCF, UConn, Memphis, Colorado State, Boise State, Tulane, Temple, East Carolina, SMU and New Mexico. Although I don't think UA has any intentions of leaving the MAC, some spots should open up in the AAC.

I've never been a fan of having a logo on one side, and numbers on the other. I'm guessing they probably realized that the Z logo tends to look a little awkward when placed on the left side. Still think this is my favorite Zips helmet ever.

Awesome thanks! Have to say I love the new jersey. Can't say the same about the white helmet with gold facemask they showed. The gold looks too much like light brown or tan.

Nothing makes me more furious than people talking about Akron or the MAC dropping down to FCS. Especially after a fun year in which the Zips actually won a bowl game. Why would we NEVER want to experience that again?

AAC is really Akron's only option. If we had a somewhat decent arena, I think it would be a no brainer. They are definitely a conference that focuses on market potential (Philadelphia, New Orleans, Tulsa, Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, etc). Maybe if Cincinnati were to move, picking up a new Ohio market would help. No other teams in the MAC would make sense really aside from maybe Buffalo and Toledo?

UB probably has the most generic branding in FBS. Boring color scheme, generic clip-art logo to go with a generic mascot, and extremely plain uniforms. It honestly reminds me of a fictional team from a TV show or movie. I get that not everyone can be the Zips, Wolverines, Flashes, Buckeyes, etc. But plenty of big time programs take generic mascots (bears, tigers, wildcats) and take the time to make them their own. I have a hard time believing any football player at UB could be excited about those uniforms.

Judging by this photo, this Zips are getting new uniforms. Basically just plainer versions of what they have worn the past 5-6 years. No striping, just 'Akron' across the front in a smaller non-italic font. At this point it would be smart of Akron to move away from Adidas. Most schools are dropping them for Nike or UA. Any school still using Adidas has either extremely ugly, or extremely boring uniforms. In the past few years they have lost Michigan, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, UCLA, Arkansas, and Tennessee. At the professional level Nike owns the NFL and soon the NBA. Adidas has shifted towards the NHL and CFL.

Wow. Imagine if we didn't spot them double digit leads each half. We'd be up by 20 right now.

Wheels are falling off. This team needs to get motivated, fast.

If Buffalo keeps shooting 99% this will be over quick. If it's not already.
