I feel like it will always be referred to as "Akron" or the slang term "Akron U." Regardless of what the FULL formal name is.

I'd be 100% against building anything that would be used by Can't State, Ohio State, etc. Even if it was an arena built to support a larger city or town, the fact that it would be used by a team I dislike, would make me oppose the plan. Have to think people in the Akron area would feel the same way. They see it as an Akron Zips arena and nothing more. Can't say I'd blame them.

In this day and age, I'm just glad the Zips didn't do anything ridiculous. You see crazy colored floors like black and purple, weird blue and red turf, courts that look like a beach, courts with gigantic logos, skylines, etc. They all look awful. Teams go to such great lengths to stand out it gets embarrassing. I wouldn't mind blue painted keys or baselines, but it seems they are keeping it simple.

I have a hard time adjusting to a new person coming in, with no previous ties to the university, and taking away part of our history. I'm not sure Dr. Scarborough would be too happy if someone demanded him to change his last name to something more prestigious sounding.

Wonder if they will eventually switch the logo at InfoCision to the "Z." Probably costly to make a change like that to artificial turf. Have to think that if the Zips played on natural grass the change would have been made already.

Wonder why he had to justify the use of Polytechnic if he didn't have any interest in changing the name???

Probably would have been more believable had he picked a school with a football team.

I like how athletics seems to be shifting towards use of the Z, as opposed to the A-kangaroo. It's simple, unique and looks cool.

I personally think UB's branding is dumb. The University of Akron sounds much better than The University of Ohio at Akron. If I were Keith Dambrot I would leave UA the first chance I got. It's obvious that the school is not putting the money needed into the basketball program. Other schools are moving up and building new arenas while UA is playing in a glorified HS gym and playing in one of the worst conferences. I love the Zips. But I hate the MAC and I hate the JAR. They are both embarrassing.

I'm still amazed at how our offense was in Bowden's first year compared to our last two seasons. I remember thinking it would be a juggernaut once he was able to build it with his guys. Guess the opposite has happened and it gets worse every year... Was Dalton Williams really that good?

How the heck does FIU get Pitt at home and UB got Baylor? Really? I get that maybe Pitt just wanted to play in Florida for some extra exposure. But there's no talent in Western NY going to Baylor.

Ohio State losing. Makes me feel better about the Zips and Browns sucking it up this weekend.

I'm surprised so many are calling them new uniforms. Technically they the exact same jerseys and pants they wore last season, with only new helmets.

Mediocre Big10 and ACC teams should be able to beat MAC teams. I'm not saying we'll go 0-3, but we aren't good enough to go 3-0. Win 1 out of 3 and I'm happy.

I think we need to be realistic.

This team really hasn't done anything to prove things have turned around. As far as football in NE Ohio, people only care about the Browns and Buckeyes. As far as the Zips they really don't consider them a "real" football team.

Yes, the new awful black uniforms. I'm already sick of them.

So black will be used at least twice. Wouldn't make much sense to wear the chrome helmet with blue jerseys, since the Z is black.

I believe you're referring to the teams new practice uniforms. Navy jerseys w/ white stripes, white w/navy stripes, and QB's had red w/white stripes. They are the generic design that adidas teams are using this season. Only practice uniforms and not based on actual game jerseys.

White helmets look f'n sick! But I hate the black and gold. If they used the same decal on both it would have made it 100x better....

Don't like the idea of using white at Penn State. They are known for white and blue, so why not try to be different? It's the biggest game of the year so we should be wearing the coolest helmet, metallic gold.
